I have poetic recall of visiting Clinton with my dad when I was a very young child. We stopped into Village Crossing On The Green women's clothing store and were both pleasantly surprised at the selection, quality and styles packed into one cozy store. I must have tried on over a dozen things, and had I not been budget conscious would have gotten many of them. As it was, I ended up with a wonderful stylish rayon tunic with crinkly fabric in deep tealish navy and black. I got some below the knee leggings to go with it....the leggings had extra style as well, sporting voile cuffs. My new fall outfit which I will wear VERY often! You can dress it up, you can dress it down. The perfect outfit. Most of the clothing there is made of luxurious linens, cottons and rayons, my favorite fabrics. The owner has a an extra special eye for garments that are cut in flattering and interesting ways. If this store were in my town in CA I would buy my whole wardrobe there.

We always make it our priority to stop in to the Village Crossing where we spend hours perusing the colorful merchandise -- and the great sales! -- and having such fun. (One time my mom and I bought matching tops! I've never laughed so hard). The inventory -- lots of comfortable cotton dresses and tunics, some made in the USA -- is right up my alley, and the owner Joyce could not be nicer or more helpful. I was here 3 times while home visiting my parents and both experiences were blah. The first time I came shopping in store. The parking lot is insane. It was early afternoon and we still had to park very far away. Inside the store things looked like a tornado went through in many different sections. They also had empty spots, and were out of quite a few things. The one thing that made me happy was the special biodegradable, reusable bags they are now using. They are super sturdy and def worth reusing, esp with NY State's plastic bag ban going into effect in the spring. The second and third times I did online order for pickup in store. I dont know if this is a newer option at this Target, but at home I am used to this being a very quick process. They even have reserved parking for it. Here I had to wait in line with everyone else wanting something out of the customer service desk, to which only one person was working. One instance I showed my barcode and they said it wasn't needed just my ID. The second instance they wanted my barcode and not the ID. No consistency. Some of my products ordered online upon pickup were not available and had to be cancelled.

Being back to school shopping season is no excuse for how messy and disastrous each and every department was. The shoe department was especially bad. Prices were marked completely different RIGHT. ON. THE SHOE. from what scanned. You would open a shoe box and find a different shoe or size inside. The dressing rooms looked like someone emptied their entire closet and just threw things everywhere. The bedding department had sale signs under items that were not on sale at all. Thankgod for the Kohls app to find out the real prices of things or there would be huge issues come time to check out. My mom and I were so frustrated with all of the disarray we couldn't stand to stay very long or complete our shopping trip.

They have many sizes that other stores do not bother to carry. The retail prices are high but they have lots of discounts and the quality is much better than some of their competitors. Today I saw a couple of summer-weight jackets I liked. They didn't have my exact size in the store so they located them in other stores and had them shipped to my house. I am very happy to have discovered this clothing line.
