A fun, retro eatery! Stopped by for burgers and ice cream and they delivered. Fortunately for us, there was sufficient parking. Although I can see where it might be difficult during prime time and in the summer. We stopped by in April when there was a chill in the air. Lots of places to sit outside. But because of the cold, ate inside which is a little cramped. Nevertheless, clearly this is a well loved place with lots of ties to the community. Grabbed the menu from the counter and quickly decided what we wanted. Hubby decided on a hot dog and I had the cheeseburger. Fries are extra unless you order the burger as a 'platter'. Clearly the fries are hand cut and my hubby enjoyed them immensely. Wish the ketchup packets were Heinz, but they were Hunts. Hamburger was Ok, but again I wish I had Heinz. Hubby's hot dog was Huge! And he devoured it with pleasure. We shared a taco ice cream which was yummy. Looked around and people had huge soft ice cream cones in hand. Definitely over generous with the ice cream. Took home some whoopie pies and they were yummy the next day Note that the bathroom is outside and Unisex. Enough said. Overall, a really nice place for a burger and ice cream with friends. Stop on by!

Kristy's Whistle Stop is the best ice cream location in Cumberland County. I had a burger and fries before the ice cream, and that was also really good. The fresh cut fries are great.

I was turned on to the thought of this place by a coworker who took her children. She was talking about a baklava sundae... sounds good right. Well I tried to get my employees to join me but they were all busy. And with me I don't need a crowd so today after church and a BJ'S run I ran to Kristy's Whistle Stop. HHHHHHH I don't know how in the world I am going to keep the 40 lbs that I lost the heck off... So I got the s'mores sundae and the young man asked what size? My mind said you didn't hear that... What size is he kidding... They actually have small medium and large.... OMG that is CRA CRAY! So the small is all I could muster and that was a lot!!! The good thing for me is that I don't like peanut butter so I will not have to eat about half of the menu.

Enjoyed the experience and ambiance. This was size medium. Advise to get a smaller size. Bought a cute children's book written by a woman local to central PA

We have driven by Kristy's Whistle stop for many, many years and are always glad to see it open for the season. We stop every chance we get and enjoy a some good homemade food and fresh cut fries. We have always had very good food and great ice cream and this stop was the same as always. The staff is always nice and friendly and the food is always good. Stop and enjoy a great meal.

This is a cute little roadside shop. The interior has a 1950's soda shop feel, but it is small. There are maybe 5 tables inside, a few benches and picnic tables along the outside, and a covered pavilion in the back. We sat in the pavilion and my toddler loved the multi-colored twinkling star lights draped around the roofline. There is also very cute landscaping in the back with ice cream cone lights and tiny mushroom lights. This visit, I got a mushroom swiss burger and a small order of fries. The burger was very good. It was cooked well-done, which I never normally get when offered a choice, but it was still pretty juicy. The fries were very nicely crispy but needed a good bit of salting. The small was more than enough fries for my mom, my toddler, and I to share. My son got an Oreo sundae and loved it. I got a sundae called Fat Mama that was vanilla soft serve, peanut butter sauce, hot fudge, peanut butter cups, whipped cream and a cherry----fantastic! We both got a small and the portions were super generous. Neither my son nor I could finish our serving. They have so many varieties of ice cream and many sundaes to choose from. You can also make your own creation. We are always happy with the service here. After ordering, we walked out with our sundaes and they brought our other food out to our table when it was ready. Highly recommend!

I stopped in here to support the East Penns boro fire police fundraiser and it was also National Hot Dog Day so I ordered the Donna dog with chili cheese and onion the dog was very delicious but I also couldn't just leave with out ice cream so I got the soft serve twist yummy. This place gets packed but the employees do a great job!

The aesthetics of a building are not that great, and at first, you are scared to enter. The entrance is cluttered and not inviting. However, the ice cream is fantastic. I am a massive fan of their soft-serve black raspberry. The service is excellent. They just need to organize the space a bit.

The kind that requires intention. Enter Faye's Ice Cream Parlor, which I learned (the hard way) is one of the very few local ice cream shops that's open year-round AND late enough to actually grab dessert after dinner in the winter. Bless them. A little pre-visit research led me to Faye's social media to confirm they were open--and that's when I saw it: Peanut Butter Blast. Creamy peanut butter ice cream loaded with Reese's Pieces and Peanut Butter Cups. As a lifelong peanut butter enthusiast, my fate was sealed. Thanks to a recent Central PA snowstorm, street parking was...adventurous. After one strategic lap around the block, I found a spot just a few spaces from the front door and felt like I had won the lottery. I carefully perched my car atop a snowplow-created mountain and hustled inside in search of warmth...and ice cream. Inside, there was only one other group of customers, which made perfect sense given it was late January, about 15 degrees outside, and there were still inches of snow piled everywhere. I was oddly comforted knowing I wasn't the only person craving ice cream in the dead of winter. I ordered the smallest dish they offer (a kiddie size for around $4), slid into a retro booth in the back, and dug in. The ice cream was fabulous--rich, creamy, and absolutely loaded with peanut butter goodness. Zero regrets. But honestly? The interior might have been my favorite part. The full-on 1950s vibe--from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe, the decor, and the music--felt like stepping into a time capsule. I have nothing but respect for the staff who listen to the classics all day, every day...because I personally could not do that without losing my mind. Still, it absolutely fits the charm. Bottom line: Faye's is a super solid ice cream stop any time of year. Between the great ice cream, cozy retro vibes, convenient location, and rare winter / later-night hours, this place is a win! I'll definitely be back--especially once the weather breaks and I no longer have to scale snowbanks for dessert.

It's a pretty simple but effective menu of scoops, shakes, floats, and sundaes. We were each going to get a flavor and share but saw the flight option: 4 kids sized flavors in their own little cubbies in one container. Highly recommend this if you're torn on flavors. Many of the flavors were monthly, so even if I loved them, I understand they might not be around next time. The brown butter sugar cookie was sweet and creamy, the watermelon was refreshing and light, the espresso martini was rich and complex, and the more regular flavor Dutch chocolate was perfection. They give out samples which was great because one of the seasonal flavors wasn't to our liking, so we were able to pivot. Don't abuse sampling privileges and don't be afraid to try some of the more unique flavors. You never know! They have their operations down pat, so the line moved quickly. The employees seemed nice, and the cost was very reasonable for specialty flavors. You can't go wrong trying this place.

The flavor lineup was stacked, but I finally committed to a baseball-sized scoop of Monday Morning ($6) -- brown sugar ice cream swirled with cinnamon and studded with coffee cake chunks. And it was phenomenal. Sweet but balanced, creamy as a dream, with those coffee cake bites adding just the right texture. Imagine drinking the leftover milk from a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch -- but better. Whoever invented this deserves a medal. I wasn't looking for ice cream when my wife and I attended a concert at Riverfront Park in Harrisburg. But as we were walking towards the stage I saw the Honeybear Ice Cream food truck and was intrigued. Ho hum let's take a gander at that menu.... IT'S ALL VEGAN?! Ok, you got me, let's do this! Honeybear has an entirely vegan ice cream menu. These aren't your basic flavors. They've got fruit flavors, traditional ones and coffee. They've got mix ins. They've got root beer and coffee floats. They've got brownies and cookies. You getting my drift? This is inspired ice cream here. Honeybear has a menu of different ice cream combos. They also had a list of favorites from the people working. I went with the recommendation posted by Macy. It was coffee ice cream (which uses Harrisburg's own, Little Amps as the coffee), graham cracker mix in and chocolate shell on top. It is then topped with a cherry (a real one with a seed, no maraschino ones here). Incredible combo, incredible ice cream. Price wise Honeybear is consistent with other local vegan ice cream shops I've visited in Baltimore, Tampa and Denver.
