Dr. Kristin Walker is a phenomenal physician. After carefully reading most of the reviews, I was hesitant to make an appointment. I would have been so wrong if I did not make an appointment. Hands down, I had one of THE BEST experiences with any physician I have ever had. My husband is a plastic surgeon, and I am a registered nurse from Stanford University who has an autoimmune disease making me very educated as a patient and as a practitioner. First off, Dr. Kristin Walker's office is busy, and for me as a medical personnel, and patient, that is a GREAT SIGN. To know your physician has 45 plus patients a day or has a four month waiting list should tell you something. So for all of you negative patients who thought the waiting period of more than 20 minutes was unsatisfactory, you should really reconsider who your physicians are. Dr. Kristin Walker is comparable to my physicians at the Mayo Clinic and Cedars Sinai, which, if you did not know, are the top medical centers in the nation. With this being said, my physicians have 4 month waiting periods, and hour long waits for a 15 minute max appointment. If you are educated in medicine, you would know that is perfection. 2 reasons for this -- 1. Your physician is smart enough to diagnose, evaluate or analyze an issue in a quick fashion b/c of their knowledge and 2. They are busy -- because they are good. Think about it. -- One of the main concern really is not about Kristin Walker herself in all of the previous posts, it's about her office. Do you want to go to a physician who has no patients? Suit yourself.
Upon my visit to her office, I waited about 20 minutes and was seen by her PA (Physician's Assistant) who was more than polite, kind, knowledgeable and engaging. I had told her my multiple medical issues, allergies, etc. and she was very receptive to any concern I had. As she looked at the concerned area, she made a decision to remove a small portion of it. Great, and fast thinking! She had Dr. Walker come in, I met with her. She educated me on exactly what it was, what she was going to do, and my after care procedures. She made me feel EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. Something that every patient should feel. Dr. Kristin Walker's whole demeanor and down to earth nature was so pleasant that I am just baffled by all of the comments below. She seemed like a personable, well-educated, busy, warm, and well-natured woman. I am so picky with my physicains that I was more than pleased to know that I have found a dermatologist who knows what they are doing.
In hopes for the next Yelp reviewer who reads this, I ignored the reviews and went with my gut instinct which I based on her credentials and education. I saw she had graduated from UC Davis, USC, and George Washington, etc. -- that in itself is what I want to know about my physician-- is she/he smart, educated, up to date, modern, knows the latest research? And +10 for the business of her practice. I say, way to go, Dr. Walker. In nursing school, they always said the best way to assess a Physician is by the number of patients in his or her waiting room.
I have been to Dr. Walker 5 times now, once as a first time patient where I had a procedure and another time for a follow up. There was a follow up phone call involved, and even a personal call from Dr. Walker herself to ensure everything went as planned. The three other times, I have come in for minor questions/ concerns and even brought my 4 children there for acne, eczema, and skin tags. My one daughter had a case of flat warts that took over her entire forehead. As we went to the TOP UCSF Dermatologist for 1.5 years, who tried injecting yeast in her forehead, and that did not work, we decided to go to Dr. Walker who zapped off the warts, never to have them return again. All of my children have all been treated correctly and proactively. We live in Los Gatos and our commute to Orinda is an hour and a half. If that does not tell you how much I believe in this physician, I don't know what will. read more
