I live in Modesto and make the trek to Turlock to have my children see Dr. Armita Akbarnejad or…read moresimply, Dr. A. Her office staff and dental assistants are so sweet, kind, and attentive to the children and parents. I initially reached out to Dr. A when a Modesto pediatric dentist recommended my son get anesthesia for a cavity or two. I am totally against that and this dentist wouldn't even consider laughing gas as my son is really good at dental exams. When I met Dr. A, she really listened to my concerns and recommended laughing gas to try at first. We did that and like I expected, he did so well! And Dr. A even recommended not working on the other concerns from the Modesto dentist, and he's been doing fine since then. I really appreciate and trust Dr. A and I love how they make the children as comfortable as possible and leave them with smiles on their faces with their balloon animals. Such a sweet and memorable touch! My children get excited about the dentist because they know they'll get their balloons! LOL! I highly recommend checking out Dr. A for your child(ren).

The staff is so patient with my son who is on the spectrum they let him see all the tools and explain beforehand what they are going to do. And after every visit they get a balloon animal. We highly recommend this dentist to anyone with young children.

Unfortunately, I got a toothache when my regular dentist was closed. I desperately tried to "tough…read moreit out" until his business hours on Monday. I just couldn't do it. My husband suggested that he take me to a dentist he had tried when the same thing happened to him. Unfortunately, being new to Turlock, he called Turlock Dental Care which is a very similar name to the dentist office that he was trying to reach. They had an opening so he made an appointment for me. I felt very lucky to get it. Had I only known what was to come l would not have felt so lucky. This mistake would cost me about $10,000 in some unnecessary and some overpriced and quite frankly weird and bizarre dental procedures. Being a senior citizen on a fixed income, this is a big deal. While no one would like this, my husband and I, being retirees, have no way to make it back! The appointment time came and my husband drove me to the office. I must say that I was quite impressed with the fancy office and the initial treatment that I received. They are really good at fooling you into believing that they have your best interests in mind. This is not true. What they actually have in mind is fleecing you of as much cash as possible. After the first "consultation " they lead you to a little room much like a car dealership where you are presented with a bunch of papers to sign. They get you when you are in pain and vulnerable. The only "contract" that was legit was the first one which was for the extraction of the tooth that was causing the pain. The rest was for redoing procedures that were already done by my regular dentist and covered by Medi-Cal (like I said I am a retiree). Being in an extreme pain when questioned about how I would pay for said procedures (I was told that they do not take Medi-Cal no surprise there) I divulged some private information. I was then told to sign the big bundle of paper. Being in that kind of pain, I would and did sign anything. After realizing my terrible mistake, I knew that there was nothing that I could do about it. I figured that I might as well get what I had paid for done. On the final visit, the dentist said that he had time to do the procedure that we had talked about. He said that I should ask my husband who was sitting in the waiting room if we had time to do it. I said that I would text him and see. I had assumed that it was one of the procedures that I had already paid for. Unfortunately, it was not. The dentist said that he would prefer that I go to the waiting room to ask my husband. I now know that was so his employees would think that I asked him to spend another $2700 on a bizarre procedure. This was not the case. I thought that it was something on the list of things that I had already paid for. I went back in. I did not sign anything stating that I understood or agreed to this procedure. All that I know is that it involved running strips of metal between my teeth. This resulted in a chip to one of my front teeth (ironically he had said that if I didn't have this done my two front teeth would fall out) and my previously tight teeth having gaps between them where particles of food are now constantly being stuck. After the procedure was done, my husband and I were escorted to the billing area where we were told that we owed another $2700. My husband, of course, questioned this. The receptionist looked at me and said that I had agreed to it. She very smirky looked at me and said, "You know you did, Mary". I didn't say a word. I knew that there was no point arguing with these people. When I returned to my dentist, he said, "Why didn't you come to me." I told him that it was because he was closed. He also asked why I had had his work that he had just done the month before replaced. I told him that I didn't know that I had. Then I told him what had happened. I told him how my son-in-law had told me that I should have refused to pay. My dentist said that I had to pay. I said that I knew. Otherwise the police would be called. Don't be fooled by the fancy chandeliers. Turlock Dental Care does not have your best interests in mind. It is simply interested in separating you from as much of your hard earned cash as possible! BTW they will probably say that they have no record of me ever being in their office. My credit card statement says differently!

Sadly, I can no longer recommend this practice. My kids have been treated here for about 10 years…read morenow. My daughter's treatment went great and she finished about a year ago. My son's treatment/service has turned into a nightmare over the past year. Here's what we've been dealing with: -A high staff turnover rate. There is never the same workers when we go in. The ones we've interacted with seem very unfamiliar with my son's treatment plan. Heiner seems very impatient with staff at times even making comments to me personally about his frustrations and it makes for some awkward vibes. It was never like this until recently. - We drive 40 minutes each way to go here and have had 2 appointments in the last 2 months where we drove there for nothing. One, he called in sick as we were pulling in the parking lot for our appt. They couldn't even call me, they text me. The other, we went to the appt and they said they felt bad they should have called me and cancelled because he wasn't in and they couldn't help us. There was no respect for our wasted time what so ever. - They no longer answer the phone. I had tried to get thru several times in one day and instead of answer they text back (obv have caller id) and say they will call back. So weird and unprofessional to do biz like this. -Heiner has become frustrated with my son's lack of progress on closing a gap. Has made the comment numerous times that we are causing him to lose money because my son is over treatment time. This made me mad after about the 4th visit hearing this comment so I told him nicely to just remove the braces. He and staff were not happy about that. I was told by a worker there today that we are termed "non-compliant" now so if we need anything further they will "charge us whatever". I have no idea what she means but I don't really care anymore. We are done. -They've been telling me Heiner will call me for 2 months now. No call yet. Today I was told she can get my son an appt to just get his final retainer and end treatment but warned me of a high probability we still won't get to talk to him. To be honest, I don't really know what's going on here. Whether it's just a bad staff with bad communication or if Heiner just isn't into it anymore like he used to be I don't know. But the past year has been really bad for us and I look VERY forward to completing this treatment and being done with the place all together. The vibes are all bad and uncomfortable these days. And it makes me sad the way it is now vs. what it used to be.
