It's been a few years since I stepped foot in Krista K, but I remember them having a much better selection than they did yesterday. They have their big "Shop Around The Clock" sale today so perhaps my timing was off and they have lots of new merchandise coming in soon, but not much caught my eye besides a few cute Ella Moss and Splendid shirts. Everything was pricey too, but that's to be expected when boutique shopping in this neighborhood. I left within 10 minutes a bit bummed that I had just paid more for my parking with the hopes that I"d be shopping for awhile. read more

My family and I were in from out of town. We have a passion for supporting local businesses. We were ready to spend money. We were extremely disappointed in the lack of acknowledgment from the staff members. We saw one staff member on their phone and being EXTREMELY RUDE to another customer about tightening the bows on their bow shoes. When we went downstairs we were finally acknowledged but only because the staff member made us feel like they were watching us to keep us from stealing. The staff members were elitist and racist. Such lovely clothing items are wasted by the staff's "Pretty Woman" customer service mentality. Living close by, I wish I could say it was an isolated experience, but alas, they are chronic offenders. With that being said, I'll never buy something from Krista K on principle alone. My advice if you do stop in: Enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things. Pick out designers you like and then take that info home with you to purchase it elsewhere. My daughter and I were out shopping today. I was looking for a holiday top and didn't quite see anything I liked. We ventured downstairs and were followed downstairs by a staff member who didn't acknowledge us but did seem to be watching us. I have never ever had the feeling I was being watched in a store before. It sort of felt like maybe we shouldn't be shopping in their store. I may have browsed more and bought something had she not made us feel mistreated. I want to support small business as a fellow small business owner but small businesses shouldn't judge their clientele and ensure everyone feels welcome. Blech. I can't even think of an articulate word to describe the unpleasant experience and memory of this place - I have to settle for a sound. I am fairly confident I did not show up wearing trash bags and that there isn't anything (immediately) wrong with me or my friend that I came here with... it makes me wonder how people had such great experience with the sales staff here. Should I feel left out? The last time I was here, there weren't enough people inside for it to be so busy that the saleswoman had to be a snot. But she was. She just had an attitude like she couldn't be bothered with questions and treated us like we were inconsequential and certainly not there to spend money. So we did ourselves a favor and left. I love boutiques and when there are so many options to get the same merchandise at any of the other great boutiques in Chicago AND online, I certainly wouldn't waste any more time and money on a place that employs stuck-up saleswomen. Is this a joke? I can barely believe what just happened. I walked in, and a sales associate straight up looked at me multiple times while helping another woman (who loudly announced how small her clothing size is- no one cares!). Anyway, no one is surprised due to a million similar reviews saying the same thing, but the sales associate didn't acknowledge me. Ever. When I went downstairs, a very nice sales associate acknowledged me and said "hi," so there was that. I'm confused: was my designer handbag not expensive enough to warrant acknowledgment when I walked in? Was it that I was wearing Uggs and am in my 30s? Oh my! Krista K is a gem! Best selection for unique clothing and "best of" brands. The sales women are all so attentive and helpful. I needed a dress for a party and with their help, found the perfect one! I've read a variety of reviews about rude staff but don't agree. Maybe it's changed but my experience was fantastic. I went in today in a panic for a holiday dress and the entire staff made the experience totally great. The brought me clothes I normally wouldn't have tried on with many 'wins' in the batch--I'm far north of 40 and fairly short but asked for sexy stuff that was age-appropriate. They delivered. They proceeded to make me feel beautiful with positive comments on the clothes they thought worked but they also told me when they didn't like something either. I get that it's their job to sell their wares but I felt the compliments were sincere. It was fun and I have a great dress. Many thanks. read more

I don't hate shopping here but I don't love it, either. I agree that the sales staff could probably use a lesson or two in manners, but I still come back because it's an easy spot to pick up a pair of new designer jeans and I don't have to go all the way downtown. They always bring in a few shirts/tops to my dressing room for me try on and I smile and nod but come on, I do not need a $250 shirt to go with these $200 jeans. Krista K has a great selection of jeans. But they only carry 1-2 sizes per style, so go early and often to get the latest and greatest. This spot also has REALLY good sales. I really enjoy shopping at Krista K and make a point to stop in when I am in the neighborhood. There is an entire floor that is dedicated to maternity and baby gear. I was able to get a super-cute present for a new Mom there. They are, however, opening another store soon dedicated to maternity and baby gear. read more

Krista K has beautiful clothes. Just walk past their window displays and you'll see that time and time again. But just walk into their store and you'll see that they also have rude staff. I love to support all the shops along Southport...except Krista K. The best way I can describe this place is by referencing the "big mistake, HUGE" scene in Pretty Woman - the sales staff here can certainly make ANYONE feel like they don't belong and/or aren't welcome. If you want better service and clothes that are just as beautiful go to Perchance just down the street. You'll be glad you did. read more

Definitely nothing special....designer goods are everywhere but this place did not rub me particularly the right way to drop $400 on a plain brown sweater. The saleswoman was doting on a lady flitting about the store touching everything and being a complete priss....my acknowledgement was just a stare which I didn't know to take as "Oh my god ask me a question so I can take a break from this B here" or "Ew, what are you doing in here?"....whatever. By far my favorite boutique in chicago. The staff is so friendly, have always treated me kindly and have never ever been snobby or rude. My mom and I like to come here several times a year for unique pieces, and this place always delivers. The downstairs is more casual, w/jeans and other lines, upstairs is more high end. They carry a lot of one of a kind lines, as well as some more common ones, but seem to stock pieces that you dont see in other stores. Krista is on the pricier end, but if you're looking for unique pieces, its the place to go. read more

I'm reviewing the Krista K Boutique - Maternity location. This store is about 2 blocks away from the original boutique and only carries maternity clothing. Beautiful clothes....but - wow - pricey for something you will only wear for a couple months. I don't mind spending $200 on a jacket if I know I will wear it for a couple years. My only real complaint is that the store is small and the sales staff can be overwhelming. You can't just casually browse here without someone pestering you constantly. I went here because I knew from their website that they carried a brand I was looking for. I wasn't too excited, as I was worried that the sales staff would be super snotty based on previous reviews here on Yelp. To top it off, I was dressed in workout clothes and looking pretty scrubby. I walked in and was greeted by the two sales clerks. I did get a once over, but overall they were very friendly and helped me find what I was looking for. They weren't pushy, either. But what was really amazing about Krista K. was the clothes! I wanted to take home each and every piece. Great handbag selection also: Rebecca Minkoff, Treesje, and Foley + Corinna. I love the staff at Krista K. I am always treated very well and they remember me every time I walk through the doors, though I am not a regular. I am not a size zero, in fact I am a double number size, but I can always find plenty of very fashionable things that fit me perfectly. The Manager Heather is full of life and the staff is gorgeous, but amazingly down to earth as well, why would that garner a negative review by anyone. The clothes and accessories are not worth the money, extremely overpriced for quality, style and selection. I think a very average (nothing special) neckless for $400.00 is a bit much for a clothing store on Southport. The one thing I would highly recommend are their jeans. Good selection, pricey but they do last and great fit!! Service - depends on the day, like any other place. Unless you have consistent and long term employees, you get what you get. You always hope service exceeds your expectations, but at the end of the day they are just trying to make a sale. read more

There is something for everybody, upstairs has more occasion and business attire, downstairs is where you'll find me with the super chic, cute more casual clothes that you can't find anywhere else. Yikes. I was really excited to go in here, as I've been meaning to check it out for years and just never get over to this area. The sales girls were horrible! The girl with the black hair that brings in her sweet dog is incredibly rude. She sat in front of her computer and had a face on that made it seem like I was in her house looking at her clothes and I wasn't supposed to be there. When she did open her mouth to tell me about what I was looking at, I responded with a funny story I had about the piece I was looking at. She paid no attention and went back to her computer screen. We then were asking each other (the girls I was with) --hmm, I wonder what's downstairs. Nobody answered us. They were just sitting behind the counter as if we weren't there. I love to shop. I buy a lot of the brands that Krista K carries and would much prefer to get what I need at Neimans or Saks....why would I submit myself to the attitude of this lazy sales girl. Or maybe she's the owner...whatever she is, she obviously doesn't like customers. But, I did go to Perchance right before...amazing clothes, amazing sales girl, and a beautiful place to shop! i loved it. So much more welcoming. read more

I have now had two wonderful experiences here and encountered nothing but super friendly staff, that were ready to help find what I was looking for and treated me as if I was the only person in the store, when I clearly was not. The reviews are very mixed for Krista K and I might be able to help people understand why. I live very close to Krista K and used to love shopping here. They do have a great selection of clothes and occasionally have excellent sales. I used to get amazing attention from the sales staff when I shopped here. You might be wondering why I use the phrase 'used to.' Well, over the past three years my career has sky rocketed, but I have also had to work grueling 60-70 hour work weeks. Because of the long hours, I developed some bad habits of not working out and getting home late and grabbing what I could to eat. 30 lbs later and I am no longer a size 6. When I was a size 6, I was treated VERY well here. Now that I am a 10/12, I get the evil eye when I walk into the store. I know it's because of my size because I stopped by recently with my girlfriend who is a petite size 4. The staff doted on her every move and gave her great suggestions for clothes to wear. If you notice, the entire staff is size 2/4. While I am not happy with my size right now, I would still like to have staff help me to find cute clothes to accentuate the positive. Apparently, they don't think that my size has any positive possibilities. I will never shop here again. read more

I was very disappointed by my experience at this store yesterday. I walked in with my daughter. Yes I was wearing work out clothes because, wait for it, I had just gotten done actually working out! Not because I'm a lazy dresser! I could have spent any amount of money had anybody bothered to assist me and/or help me find my sizes. I was in the upstairs area and I had to ask the young woman if I could try on my picks. Notice, I had to ask her for assistance. Anyway, she told me she was helping two other (obnoxious, been day drinking and probably had a lot less credit on their cards than I do...) customers but that I could go downstairs. So down I went and asked that woman for help. She got me set up in a dressing room and that was it. Not a check in to see how it was going or if I needed anything and no acknowledgement as I left.
