Butcher paper are placed on our tables with menus following. We ordered Boba, strawberry smoothies (our smoothies weren't quite sweet enough, and something was missing to make them the best they could be), and Sprite (in a bottle). We also ordered two lobster tails, which came with two corn and two potato sides and Combo Grilled Platters. The lobster tails were generous, packed with meat and flavor. Rolling Crab offers a variety of flavors: Rolling Crab Classic, Louisiana Cajun, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Butter. Bibs and gloves are available, and you can choose the lobster tails mild, medium, or super spicy, or go for the original. They come in buckets. The Combo Grilled Platters were generous portions, though we wished for more shrimp. The flavor was excellent, though. The restaurant was clean and cozy, with a small space that could easily accommodate a large group. We didn't feel rushed at all, even though it wasn't packed. We noticed a lot of takeout orders, but overall, the service was great, and the food was delicious. We're definitely planning to return!

What I received was corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage with a few pieces of shrimp and the crab. My family does not eat meat so I do not understand how they could make such a mistake especially when I was the only customer there. What if someone was allergic to one of the additional items? I'm pretty sure the sausage and vegetables were added to the shrimp to equal a pound. I am totally disappointed with this mistake and I see the reason why the restaurant was empty on a Saturday afternoon. There was no way I could have gone back to return the item since I live quite far and I made the mistake of not checking before I left since the girl stapled the bag and sealed the container inside. The shrimp isn't cooked well either. Some of them were cooked for too long while others seemed almost raw. Bad quality.

We've dined in before but that was a long time ago & I couldn't recall the experience. Anyhow, husband made some bomb sticky rice the day before and since we had no ideas for what to make tonight, this sounded like a great solution! I highly recommend this deal! I ordered the 1lb head on shrimp. Daddy sauce. Mild. It was perfectly cooked and very tasty. At first I thought it was too spicy, after a few, I realized it was the perfect amount of spice. The portion was plentiful. Husband had the fish po' boy with garlic fries and said it was great. Total was $31 including tax.

I really didn't even tell him because I wanted money back but PLEASE DONT SERVE THAT TO NO ONE ELSE! I spent over 100$ 120$ the least I expected was no spoiled food. Everything was ok not amazing but we really don't have great soul food in Ventura county this one is a tad better than cjs but still mid, just trek yourself to la for more decent options or somewhere else because this ain't it! I used to like this place some what but the guy in there is different, he had an attitude while naming off my items and showing me what I got, they put cat fish in my bag and told him I didn't get that and said I did, and then I pointed out the receipt stapled on the bag and not even an apology! Then forgot my yams anyways. This place needs new staff whole heartedly even saw him arguing with someone else in the back. HE DOES NOT NEEED OR SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. Amen. Edited: I'm starting to feel sick and the peach cobbler does not taste right . He called me to berate and argue with me after this post. Don't come here if you want to have a decent day.

West of Orleans is the real deal; an institution that meets, excels, devastates all notions of what Cajun/Creole/BBQ cuisine can or should accomplish to stand out amongst the rest of the competition. And with how high they stand, all should recognize. With a menu as expansive as most, West of Orleans manages to offer their patrons all of the classics seen with most other restaurants of the same variety, but with so much more... But onto the food. It's true to its word. Fresh, delicate, light, harmonious in every sense of the word. Flavorful beyond flavor. The PoBoy was delicious, as the shrimp popped, the remoulade sauce incredible, tangy and sweet but not overpowering. The Jerk Chicken Mac-n-Cheese was the perfect pair between savory and succulence. Not too spicy, not too smoky, just enough of everything. The macaroni held up its half of the bargain as well. Currently planning my next experience here. Stay tuned.

From the moment you walk in, that amazing smell hits you like no other! Marcus, the owner, treated us like you're a regular, even on our first visit. Marcus was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about the menu. And the food? Absolutely next level. Marcus gave us samples of the chicken gumbo and from the moment it touched my tongue, I was sold. I got a 32 ounce Gumbo and let me tell you, it was plenty. Everything was perfectly seasoned and packed full with some much pride and flavor. You could tell Marcus and his wife are passionate about their business and the product they're putting out. In addition to the chicken gumbo, I got the cornbread with the honey butter. Let me tell you something, I must've died and went to heaven. One of my friends' grandmothers made corn bread back in the day and this made me think of those times. The cornbread wasn't dry and the honey butter just amplified it to the next level. My friends got the brisket po'boys and they were blown away by the flavor. The sandwich was packed full of brisket and was seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back for another round as this was the best meal we've had in a while. Thank you Marcus!

They close at 9 but stop taking walk in dining after 8:15 which is understandable because food preparation duh. Those complaints about that are for people who walk in restaurants at 8:50 thinking staff should serve you and then wonder why food quality is bad. Anywho back to my experience. It's was my birthday and my first time there. Juana was my server and I gave us good recommendations on what to get. I got a boil and my bestie got a po'boy which she loved. My family is actually from Louisiana so I'm always skeptical but the seasoning was on point and the crawfish was not overcooked!!!!! No personally and in Louisiana the fish in po'boys are catfish not cod but I think that choice is based more on the location this restaurant is in. Honestly that's the only critique I have on the food it was very good. Back to the service Mark wasn't out server but he help the table next to us and I hope they tipped well he was on it. Amialey wasn't our server but she checked on us and talked with us at our table. Did I mention our amazing server Juana made me a birthday hat! They also sung happy birthday and gave me a slice of cheesecake. Again they went above and beyond. Also again they do not overcook the seafood.

I consider that not good customer service being as that their conversation wasn't about work. I have a new review of Shabang after 6 years. I have always purchased 1lb peeled shrimp, Classic seasoning and mild heat seasoning. This has been my go to. Today, I don't know who was playing in the kitchen. The sauce was watery and not red and thick in color. Shrimp was uncoated (see pic) Imagine my sheer disappointment not getting the same quality of food as I have been these past 6 years. I have brought people to eat here, near and far. Now the cook is playing in the kitchen. I hate when establishment know that their stuff is subpar for a takeout order and they're gonna throw it together thinking that you know the people aren't gonna say nothing or they're not gonna open their bag until they get home and they're gonna keep it. Well that's not me. I'm a shout it loud.
