Portland really is the land of deliciousness! We have not had a bad meal here, and Jacqueline was…read moreno exception! Dishes can be shared here, and our server suggested a few specialties for us to try. They also have a tasting menu but we opted for picking our own. We started with grilled oysters that were topped with kimchi butter and garlic. It was incredibly flavorful and perfectly grilled. We had the Little Gems salad, which was refreshing with the greens, radish, and green goddess sauce. The hamachi crudo is their specialty. The raw fish came with grilled pineapple and a bold and pungent fish sauce that meshed all the ingredients together cohesively for one sweet and savory dish! Absolutely recommend it! The lobster roll was absolutely delicious with bread that holds the flavors together. Cooked well and no notes here! The start of the evening was absolutely the cedar plank whole branzino. Wow, I have never been more impressed with a fish. Perfectly cooked with juicy, smoked flavors. 12/10 recommend! For dessert, we ordered an earl grey tea ice cream with blackberry, and peach sorbet. Both refreshing!

We came here because I heard they have a great seafood menu and my kids recently started enjoying oysters and other shellfish that used to be "gross". We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.

That said, this may be a new favorite. I walked two miles from the Marriott Bidwell and crossed the Willamette River to come here (an added bonus: I love how walkable Portland is). The restaurant is low-key and ultra-casual with patio and bar dining. I went for the bar, since that is usually the best option for interaction when dining solo on a work trip. Great choice: Alex the bartender and the folks seated at the bar were super-friendly. Now the food... holy moly! Fantastic oysters (I have to have oysters whenever I come to the PNW)! Briny, sweet and delicious, with a tasty garlic mignonette. Next up: Spot Prawn Crudo in a coconut lime "milk" with red onions. Tender, complex and delicious. Now, the main course was probably the best steelhead I've ever had. Sustainably sourced from an indigenous-owned farm in Washington. It was incredibly Buttery, with rich umami... perfect! I came will an Asian-style kale slaw and coconut sesame rice. The chili crisp oil topping put it over the top. This place was perfect. I will be back.

LOVE the fish tacos, fish & chips, oysters and other dishes in the past. We recently tried a new or seasonal dish. I think it was watermelon, mint and octopus? Which very tasty.. the amount of octopus was such a small amount that the $20 for the dish felt like we were cheated. I joked that we didn't even get a tentacle worth.

If you are coming on a weekend you probably want to try to grab a reservation, but both times I've popped up, I've had no trouble getting seated. The server was very friendly and had plenty of recommendations. They have both cocktails and NA drinks. The cocktails are fancy and not your average, though they lean toward mainly tequila and mezcal. They also have classic cocktails available if you aren't feeling adventurous. The desserts are really fun - full of different flavors and textures. We wanted to try everything, but settled on the Toxica and Para Mi Papa. The Toxica was basically guava passion fruit sorbet, but the smear of house made strawberry chamoy gave it a fun kick and the cornflake crunch was the texture it needed. We both really enjoyed it. My favorite was the Para Mi Papa, a delicious take on carrot cake. The orange cream cheese frosting had me questioning why all carrot cake doesn't come with orange cream cheese frosting. The miso spiced ice cream gave it a little salty note that just made the whole thing sing. I was sad to be sharing this one. Definitely a great spot to stop in with some friends or after dinner.

If you appreciate 'terroir' and how each environment impacts food sources uniquely; then you will appreciate the food of the Northwest. I have never experienced a raw oyster as I did that evening. I odered three on ice; all delicious but one especially just knocked me off my chair. It was so luscious and creamy, you must order it. The waiter informed me that it was a Pacific variety, but originated from Japan. We started with complimentary sour dough bread, soft and tasty. Then we shared a freshly prepared 'Classic Ceasar romaine, torn croutons, radish, Parmigiano-Reggiano, garlic-anchovy dressing This was exceptional. No bottled dressing here, hand-made and very tasty! My wife opted for the 'Fish + Chips: cider battered Pacific cod, fries, slaw, lemon' This arrived crispy and generous portions of fresh cod. Again, very well prepared. I chose the 'Sturgeon Picatta: butter-whipped yukon potatoes, lemon-caper sauce, wild mushrooms, crispy shallots persillade' If you have never tasted sturgeon, this is a must-try dish. The fish is moist and sweet tasting and has a very nice texture. All in all, we quafed local beers and enjoyed our meals immensely.

I've tried the mole, the elote, the empanadas, and the carne asada bowl so far. O My Great God it's so good. For sure more expensive than I'm generally comfortable paying for food so it isn't an all the time thing, but I like how easy it is to split a bill and order through their QR codes *and* their chip reader, if you're not a tap guy like me. I am non alcoholic but Grandma really loved theirs, mezcal I believe but I may be incorrect! It is LOUD outside on the patio, because duh, you're right on the busy street. If you live here, you're quite used to that! Quieter inside, the music is loud enough to confidently have a conversation without lowering your voice too much, but not so loud that you can't hear your friends. Waitstaff is pleasant, accommodating, and compassionate! It feels and smells clean inside, and my experience in back of house food let me perceive that the dishes had been freshly cleaned and steamed dry; they just had that feeling on the fingertips. (I wish the cleanliness of dishes wasn't a highlight in Portland but here we are.) Also the water didn't taste like fish OR rocks! What a win!!! Now on to the food: I was simply blown away! They have a happy hour from 4-6 with $2 oysters! The fish was so clean and cooked to perfection! The leek salad was beautifully dressed and came with the most perfect gooey eggs. Things of note from a Friday night summer visit to this place that's been there four years now: High-end presentation. The plating is top level and each thing they place in front of you is like a sculpture or work of art. Nice energy, not at all too loud. They have acoustic tiles on the ceiling and on the concrete floor added a runner that echos the curve of the large bar, which helps. Portion size looked nice and generous from examples of things we saw being brought to tables, such as the salad and focaccia. Best appetizers were fried cauliflower and the asparagus dish w/ the eggs (which would be even better if warm). The one fish entree is the sablefish (ours was underseasoned) that's brought out on thin piece of cedar with edges still slightly charred. It comes with nothing else on the plate so plan accordingly. Just inside the door they have a little snack/pantry curated market of sorts, where you can linger while waiting for seating and can buy things like a cute little bottle of honey for $20 or a colorful crocheted wall hanging basket for $70. Lots of good natural light because of the walls of floor to ceiling windows. Option of ample seating indoors and outdoors because it's a corner location. Cautionary note: We saw and heard a lunatic in hoodie who, at 6pm on a Friday night, walked up to one of the unoccupied outdoor tables and flipped it over, causing the plates and glasses to fly in the air and shattered, landing in shards next to the elderly couple at the next table who jumped up, her understandably in shock and tears. Staff did nice job moving them inside to a twotop, cleaning up the mess, and removing all the seating on that side of the building for the night.

I understand that restaurants may have a charge for extra sauces, and I have no problem paying for something if that's the policy. What bothered me was the way he spoke to me. It's not the 75 cents that prompted me to write this review--it's the unnecessary attitude and lack of basic customer service. A simple, polite explanation would have made a big difference.
