CraveBurger - The Classic Burger with Cheese

CraveBurger

Fruitvale, East Oakland

"CraveBurger" is a virtual brand that's only offered thru delivery apps. Unlike food from ghost…read morekitchens, CraveBurgers are prepared and served from actual restaurants. I ordered thru GrubHub+, and my order came from "4481 International Blvd." A little research reveals that my food came from "La Frontera Mexican Restaurant" in East Oakland. So, on a Wednesday evening, at 8:20pm, I order: - Classic Burger ($9.00), with Cheese (add $2.00). - Onion Rings ($5.00) Okay, I used to be a fast food shift Mgr, so lets talk about this Classic Burger. This is a good cheese burger. Yes, I paid $2 more to make the Classic Burger a Cheeseburger. It came with lettuce, tomato, and zesty house sauce. The bun was toasted on the grill or a flat surface. The condiment placement was right on the mark. You pickup this burger, it stays together. The meat patty shows caramelization, which means it was freshly cooked. The meat is juicy and has flavor. I didn't like the house sauce, it was a bit too spicy for a cheeseburger. If I order this burger again, I would elect to add the free pickles, ketchup, and mustard. But still a good burger, Grade (4/5). The onion rings were still crispy and crunchy when they arrived. Usually fried foods don't travel well as delivery foods. These were crispy, but a little oily. So perhaps they needed to be drained a little longer. I think these rings have the simple coating, and then deep fried. Grade (4/5). Value: $9.00 for this 11.5-oz burger is about right. Add $2.00 for cheese. $5.00 for an order of onion rings is about average.

Little Skillet is a cloud kitchen inside Jingletown Eats in East Oakland. I only live about 10…read moremins away, so I scheduled a 1pm pickup time and hoped to get the food home fast. I got a Grubhub msg that my order was ready for pickup at 1235pm. So the food sat for about 20 mins. But no harm was done as the food was fresh and tasty. I ordered a "2-pc Chicken and a side of Collard Greens." The fried chicken was moist and juicy. The crust was crispy, but not hard and crunchy. The pieces were a wing and a thigh . The collard greens were savory and flavorful. They tasted just like the greens I had in Georgia, when i was in the US Army. I also ordered "The Works," which was 2-pcs of chicken, 2 waffles, cornbread, and 1 side. My side was Mac n Cheese, and OMG it was good. It was blended well, no weird powdered cheese texture. The Chicken pieces were breast and drumstick. I usually don't like white meat, but this breast was juicy and moist. The crispy crust was an afterthought. (A hot sauce is included in the order). What's really surprising is that this food travels well as takeout. Because I would think the waffles might get soggy when packed with hot foods. Not the case. The waffles were crispy and slightly doughy. They come with a powdered sugar, and you pour on the syrup. Maybe you want to drown it with butter, but I liked it as served. So, if you like soul food, try Little Skillet @ Jingletown Eats. Remember, this is a cloud kitchen, it has no diningroom. It's strictly pickup or delivery. If you like it, it's worth the price.

We met for lunch on a quiet Sunday. It was our first time there…read more Parking was excellent. We all parked in the alley in front. It was kinda confusing looking for the entry because there's another name on the building. Once inside, I loved the unique setting. We were able to get a table right away. We had to wait until someone addressed us, seemed a little unusual as it wasn't crowded. We ordered our meals. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Next time, I will request an extra scoop because it wasn't enough for me. As we kept waiting to have our table cleared, my friend had to actually call out for assistance. Overall, it was a pretty good experience the food was tasty. We plan to go back on another day just to feel the vibe.

First off, 100% pros! Highly recommend you consider (at least get a quote) using the historic venue…read morefor any function for 70 or less! Susan (owner) is prompt and responsible on communications. Usually same day, 24 hours at the most. She is also a direct communicator (i.e., she will volunteer best practices in advance - which I personally resonated to). You can tell she has expertise in catering immediately. We needed a seating plan for our church's 20th Anniversary to accommodate 70 people and were able to get 60 in the main room and another table for the remaining 10 just outside in the adjoining buffet/bar area ( with line of sight to main room there was no problem). We opted in for some appetizers and a buffet style menu and hosted refreshment bar. The catered pricing, including venue was more than I was expecting, but in hindsight was reasonable considering the flexibility in set up accommodations, wonderful service and tasty food. Susan permitted several onsite run throughs for us, and gave us early access to set up which was an unexpected perk. Our service team consisting of Lisa, Julie, Adriana and Shelly were all in place and totally in the zone the entire event. They had out on platters the stuffed mushrooms and crab cakes three minutes into the welcome and mingle portion of the banquet. The coffee pot and condiments were ready all through the three hour event. The buffet line was opened and the food was warm (could have been hotter), but all tasty. I suggest that the gravy pot be reposition because it was hard to get too with being squeezed in between the two serving bins. Not sure why at some point that one of the staff members moved into the line to serve out the chicken fillets only. That was a little odd. The cake was expertly platted and served at the right moment. Tables cleared and waters refreshed adequately. Parking was street only but had nearby options so it all worked out well. The Audio/ Visual equipment was above average and worked without any issues. The entrance way on the front corner of the cafe would benefit with a cautionary led light or tape on the entry's one step as it blends into the approach and can represent a trip hazard, but we had no issues during our event. The bathrooms are eclectic, in character and clean. This organization did a fine job for our special event and we are very glad to have selected High Street Catering and Cafe. Hope this helps. - Pastor Mike

The owners (I know now after googling to check out the place) were onsite the whole time making sure everything ran smoothly. 10 outta 10 for everything. Thank you High Street Station!
