I first experienced Kothel in the West End, during which I received fantastic customer service and delicious food. The new installment carries on the similar feeling of a beautifully rustic decor, using reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls. In other words, it continues to be cosy and welcoming, feeling as though you've stepped into a chic domain that is part art installation, part breakfast nook. Don't let its petite size fool you; it is compact, but not cramped. Instead, there offers seating with lowered ceilings at the bottom half that allows for intimate meals one-on-one, and the top half that offers group tables, surrounded by vintage knick knacks hanging from the wall.
The food certainly does not disappoint, ranging from hotdogs and burgers, to lighter, but no less delicious veggie items like stuffed peppers. I wouldn't call the food fuss-free, it possesses a level of sophistication, but without the intimidation that may put off the fussier diner. You can see the amount of care and consideration that goes into the balance of flavours and presentation, and being able to see your meal finished off by the friendly man behind the counter adds a certain pleasing feature to the dining experience.
As I mentioned earlier, the service at the West End branch was excellent, and it continues at this one; a small but formidable team of wait staff handle the place at its busiest like a well-oiled machine, but never without a smile. They speak to you the same way you would with an old friend, having felt as though you never left.
All in all, an experience that is not to be missed! read more
