I love this place so much that I have to stop in the middle of my vacation just to write this…read morereview! Love their food but what I love even more, is how they help to feed the homeless and/or those in need. Whether you're a paying customer or someone in need, EVERYONE EATS THE SAME SOUP! Bravo!!! The Wild Olive Tree is located on Nelson Mandela's Place, inside the St. George's Tron Church of Scotland. The lovely cafe is on the main level. You walk in and get seated for table service; or you can order takeout. This is not a Soup Kitchen per se, but if you're a person of need, you can enter via a side door for free soup and hot beverages to go. They have been in operation since 2015, and in their first three years of operation, have given away 12,000 meals and 13,500 hot beverages! Again, BRAVO!!! All profits and donations from the Cafe go to their two charity partners: Glasgow City Mission and Bethany Christian Trust, to support their ongoing work with some of the city's most vulnerable people. The charities also help with work placement and employability training. How awesome is that?!?! The team at The Wild Olive Tree consists of paid staff, volunteers and work placements. This team of people are awesome! The food is homemade and delicious, customer service is so friendly, and they're so thankful for your visit. If I lived in Glasgow, I'd be a regular customer for sure! If you're ever in Glasgow (down the block from George Square), please stop by for a gigantic bowl of delicious homemade soup and scones...you'll be so glad you did!

I'm sure you hear this a lot, but the breakfast we had at this restaurant was the best breakfast…read moreI've ever had, no doubt! I had the eggs Benedict, which was the perfect portion, cooked to perfection, and left me wanting more. The sauce was light and mixed with the egg in a way that was just indescribable. The French toast with bacon offered a great mix of sweet and savory. Syrup was available if you wanted it, but honestly, you didn't need it. My wife had the fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy, cheesy, served over toast with bacon and hash browns. This is something she gets often, and she has had none better than the ones here. The service was excellent. It's not the biggest restaurant, but the tables seem to move fairly quickly, and they have outdoor seating on warmer days. The whole experience was a delightful way to start our day. So if you happen to be in Glasgow, Scotland, you have to check out the Wilton Street Pantry, you will not be disappointed!

This was a great place for Sunday Brunch. It was within walking distance of our hotel in Merchant…read moreCity and the reviews suggested that it was worth a try. The reservation that we made was worthwhile as they were booked past 1 PM when we arrived at 11:30 AM. They offered a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated inside and attended to right away. Our server was excellent the entire time we were there. The menu was condensed with some tempting choices. My wife opted for the Avocado Toast, which was loaded generously. She enjoyed it quite a lot. I tried the marinated cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, mozzarella, rocket, pesto and smoked almonds on toasted sourdough. I was likewise happy with my selection. I can also report that the coffee was very good. My wife had a Macchiato and said it was quite nice as well. Including the food, drinks and a small tip, the total bill was £36. At £18 per person, this was not cheap but I had no problem with the value. The experience including the food, the service and the vibe all added up to make this worth the cost. If we're in Glasgow again, we'd be happy to do brunch here again.

They're about the same size and always packed, and huzzah, their sandwiches are delicious at both locations. I had walked by a few times the day I finally popped in for a late lunch, as they were swamped the whole lunch rush. I managed to squeeze in to the queue around 2pm and I could tell they had just been through the ringer with the lunch crowd. The guy ahead of me wanted a chicken tikka sandwich but they were out of a couple of the ingredients, so he ordered something else. When it was my turn to order, the guy jokingly said 'let's see if I'm able to make your sandwich!" I ordered the Chiken Ole which was chicken meat, manchego cheese, chorizo, salsa and a spicy mayo on ciabatta. The only one thing they didn't have was the salsa, which in exchange they offered me a bit of salad with some sweet chili sauce. I decided against the sauce and took the salad! What a delightful sandwich this was. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! The bread was freshly baked and so delicious, even at 2pm. The ingredients were all fresh and piled high in to the bread. I also grabbed a bag of crisps and a lemon mint san pellagrino. The greatest lunch on the go I've had in a long while. The guys in here were cool as anything and the music was great. The queues might be long but the sandwiches are worth it. They also serve soups, coffee and baked goods if you're looking for something sweet. I will be back for sure!
