A cozy restaurant with delicious, homemade food and friendly service. Everything was super tasty, fresh, and filling. Portions were very generous. As big meat eaters, we didn't even miss the meat. Looking forward to coming back for dinner!

My order: Power bowl, the Egyptian platter, and mint lemonade The Review: Absolutely fantastic. I love nothing more than fresh, flavorful, and nutritious food that is made with love. Koshari Mama was just so good. There were gluten-free options galore. The GF pita was really good. I felt like I was getting my fill of protein between the lentils in the power bowl, fava bean stew, and falafel. The fresh and light tomato and cucumber salad was the perfect accompaniment. I also recommend getting the lemonade for a not-too-sweet refreshing beverage. I tried the mint but I believe they also have lavender. I can't wait to come back to Koshari Mama and try everything else.

Recently discovered a food vlogger who explored Cairo, Egypt. Koshari caught my attention, & so I searched for Egyptian food in MA. Koshari Mama appeared, being near Somerville, I decided to try it. I began with their muhammara dip, featuring roasted red peppers & walnuts. My entree was the koshari with mild sauce. Both were packed with flavor.

Creamy Lentil Soup

This was my first time trying Egyptian food and it did not disappoint! The Lentil soup and Koshari were so yummy and were generous portions as well as the drink I got. I'll be back and I encourage everyone to try Koshari Mama!

I'm updating this review to share the fantastic experience we had tonight at Koshari Mama. Our party of 18 (across three tables) was singing the restaurant's praises, and Sahar, Destiny, and the team made everyone feel right at home. They were incredibly generous and the food was, as ever, on point. I was sort of sad to leave and go back home! Our foodies club loved dining here and we are HUGE fans!!

Cute establishment. Great friendly service. Wonderful meal. I had the Muhammura - great pita bread toasted and tasty dip. Koshari for lunch with medium spice. Sauces come on the side so you can control the heat. Wonderful presentation, good lunch portion, tasty flavors with medium heat. Ingredients well done and nice combination, never have had Egyptian food before. Got the chocolate cake to go, assuming it will be fantastic. Never imagined an establishment like this in Somerville, only able to visit when I come back from West Coast. Pros: Service, Food tied with service, Dinner in decor Cons: 3000 miles from my home

Food was PHENOMENAL!! Service was amazing and food got out quick. Great energy inside the place will most definitely be returning.

Service was good. Great options and flavors in the appetizers. Eggplant fries are a must try. Muhamara, was well balanced and really good. My first time and that is a must try as well. Great quality food.

Was here for dinner with a friend on a Wednesday evening. This is a little cute spot in Somerville. It wasn't too crowded for mid week and we were able to get a cozy corner by the window. Inside it's beautifully decorated. As soon as I was seated the server was very kind and I ordered my drinks (black mint tea). For apps he helped us decide which to get. We got the cucumber mint and the babaghanoush which comes with pita. The cucumber mint what garlic and was just perfect! For our mains we both got the Koshari and you can pick what spice level of sauce you want. This is my first time eating Koshari so I didn't know what to expect, but it was a mix of lentils, rice and chickpeas. It also had some macaroni topped with fried onions. I loved the texture and spice level. We ended the night with Kunafeh and a semolina like cake. I personally liked the Kunafeh better , unlike the Turkish kind, this one had a puddling like base. The cake was very sweet. Overall, the vibes were great and so was the food. The service was kind, fast and most importantly friendly. Will definitely be back!

Super delicious food! Tried the sandwich as well as the Koshari. Wish I had ordered a lot more Koshari. A must try.

I've had lamb, chicken, and kofta and they've all been DELECTABLE. I absolutely love the salads and the portions are big enough to give me 2-3 meals out of 1 plate! The food is fresh and piping hot each time and the service is always so fast. It is definitely worth stopping to check out!

Finally made my way here - it is located right next to UML's North campus so prepare for some…read moretraffic across the bridge. I ordered the onion rings and chicken and lamb plate - it took about 5 minutes. Portions are huge like the other reviews mentioned. The onion rings were so hot, crispy, and flavorful - you can see that oil on the bag so you know it'll be good! For the plate, unpopular opinion but I didn't love the white sauce. I've had Halal Guys, but this was too mayo-ey for me, and there was *a lot* of it (and covered all the salad). I wish there was more hot sauce, so next time I'll probably ask for less white sauce or white sauce on the side and extra hot sauce. The hot sauce is hot, so it's great on top of the white sauce. The chicken also wasn't as flavorful as the lamb. I can see why this is such an establishment - fast food and huge portions! My order cost about $25, so increased prices but that's inflation nowadays. They also have drinks for sale.
