I wanted to post an update to my review…read more I did rehome my dog that day that they tried to charge me a $55 no show fee. I didn't show because I didn't have the dog anymore. It's They are terrible people at this vet- don't even go there if you are looking for kindness, compassion, reason, human decency, and respect. So disrespectful, especially the front office staff- there's like two people that are absolutely horrible, not sure why they work there. They come across like they completely hate their job and hate humans, but perhaps they do love animals, but they really hate the caretakers over those animals.

My local vet was on vacation so I called Salmon Brook in a panic and within the hour Thumper was at the facility in Granby. Dr Groshek performed a battery of tests and X-rays, and sent Thumper home with some oral and topical antibiotics, and long term steroid pills to treat what is suspected to be an inner ear infection, with suggested consultation with neurologist in a few weeks. Thumper has responded quite well to the prescribed medications, appears well on the way to full recovery, although it is a long process with this type of affliction. Neurologist at Pieper Memorial recommended continuing with the oral steroids and topical antibiotics, with another follow-up in a few weeks. I am eternally grateful that Salmon Brook was able to accommodate in such short notice and under these stressful circumstances. Dr Groshek was very knowledgeable and empathetic, and I found his subsequent lab reports very thorough. Treatment costs were high as expected given the extensive testing, but I highly recommend this facility for prompt and exceptional care.

We have two large senior dogs, one with ongoing medical issues and the entire team is always so kind and understanding. They are reasonably priced and never try to push "extras" on us. They always take the time to explain any diagnosis, treatments & next step options. We recently had to say goodbye to one of our dogs. The staff had us enter through a private entrance, which gave us a little comfort during such a sad time. Dr Begg was incredible. he explained every step of the process while being patient, understanding and so kind. We are so grateful for the support and compassion we received.

Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital saved my cat's life. My beloved cat, Stella, required emergency…read moresurgery over the Summer of 2020 and RBVH accurately diagnosed the issue and was able to take her in for emergency surgery the next day, even during the height of the COVID-19 crisis. I was a healthcare worker in New York City at the time, but originally am from Connecticut. Due to the COVID surge in NYC, I was routinely working 80-100 hour weeks. After several months, started noticing that my cat was not acting like herself. I thought something serious might be happening I rushed her straight to Roaring Brook, where I had previously got my vet care, because I knew I could 100% trust them. Long story short, it turns out she was eating my hair ties and had an obstruction. They were able to take her into surgery the next day and save her life. They were also very non judgmental about it, which I appreciated because I felt absolutely terrible about the whole ordeal and felt like the worst cat mom in existence. I am happy to report that 2 and a half years later she is 100% recovered and her normal, happy self. I cannot be more grateful to Roaring Brook for saving her, and am super vigilant about my hair ties now. She is expected to live a full, happy life.

All Creatures Wise and Wonderful - A patient enjoying his acupuncture!

All Creatures Wise and Wonderful

My kitty, Finley is doing remarkably well ever since switching over to holistic care at All…read moreCreatures Wise and Wonderful. Last spring, he got extremely ill and tested positive for a fatal retrovirus. We thought he was a goner. The conventional vets pretty much gave up on him and told me to consider euthanasia. Finley bounced back after we put the prednisone in the trash bin and instead gave him some Acemannan "inner leaf" aloe and CBD oil from Pet Releaf. He started seeing Dr. Matthews after this (early last spring). She tested all of his food, and medicines to make sure they agree with him. She recommended a limited raw food diet, continuing with the aloe and CBD, as well as monthly acupuncture treatments. Dr. Matthews has a way of communicating with the animal, understanding their backstory and knowing what they need. It seems a little hocus pocus but you can clearly see the animal responding. She was also trained as a conventional vet. She has a lovely side-kick named Dee Dee, who does Reiki and just loves up the animals during their procedures. Dee Dee gives Finley "cookies" and places a scarf over his head so he feels secure, (and looks like a baby babushka). Finley does get very stressed from the travel so Dee Dee's relaxing and loving energy has been especially helpful. The office also provides 'acupuncture' treatments over telehealth. Don't ask me how this works, but it DOES. Since Finley started as a patient, he has been acting happy and healthy, getting into lots of mischief, "helping" around the house, and posting his latest thots to Instagram. He does have a bit of a "herx" reaction which lasts about 2-3 days after each appointment, but I assume this is a good sign.

At the time the office manager and I exchanged emails to explain the missed appointment. He was firm in not refunding the $40 no-show fee because, as he told me, it was policy to charge anyone who didn't provide the required notice regardless of the reason or if it was a first time offense. I was quite upset and angry about this charge and stopped bringing Lucy to Dr. Amy because of the unfairness of the situation. Imagine my surprise when, nearly a year later, I received a refund of $40 to my credit card.
