Hands down the best fish fry in the area! Not to mention a yummy breakfast! Great service!

We stopped here for breakfast on a trip to MI. It is small and we had a big group, but they moved some tables around to accommodate us. There was only one waitress but she provided great service to the 12 people in our group and the other customers as well. I had the breakfast special (2 eggs, choice of ham, bacon, or sausage, hash browns, and toast), it was a lot of food for under $8. The best part of my breakfast was the sausage, best ever, I should have asked where they get it. I would go here again it was good food and great service all at a reasonable price. read more

The food was great, service was exceptional, and the restaurant was very welcoming. We loved it and will be there again.

Arrived at the Korner Kitchen after a long drive and we were really hungry. It hit the spot for a quick bite after many hours of not eating. Clean interior, nice staff (albeit our server seemed very shy and soft spoken) a little slow service but it was near closing. I got the Moo-Oink-Cluck burger and it really hit the spot. Hard to go wrong with a burger that has bacon and a fried egg. The egg was not over easy like it said but was still tasty. We also ordered a turkey melt that was quite a disappointment. No veggies at all, not even a tomato or a piece of lettuce but worst of all the "melt" wasn't even slightly melted. The cheese was still cold and the bread was barely even toasted. Clearly the burger was the thing to get because the sandwich was terrible but the burger and fries were great. Overall seems like a fine establishment but some items are not nearly as good as others. Stopped here on our way to Duluth, MN. Nice small local restaurant. We decided on the Philly Steak omelet with wheat toast. My wife and I always split our meals and it was a good idea in this case as the omelet was huge. Steak, green peppers, onion, mushrooms and swiss cheese were all present in large amounts, but well balanced. All wrapped in a tender omelet that was cooked perfectly (as a country omelet). Probably one of the best omelets that I have had in recent memory. So tasty, that it was hard to stop eating it! Service was quick and courteous. We will be back there on our return trip home. read more

A few weeks ago my Dad, my b/f, and myself woke up desperately hungry for some food. I should mention that we were in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in the off season... which means that there are almost no options for food. So, that being said we fired up our gadgets and hit the internet. And by we I mean the b/f and I because my Dad can barely operate his flip phone. I digress... We were staying at the Root Cellar Inn (which I will be reviewing later...it's FANTASTIC) which was about 20 minutes from Ewen and 20 minutes from Wakefield. Ewen doesn't have anything really so we headed to Wakefield to the Korner Kitchen because at this point I was beginning to nibble on my phone. Cute, tiny little building - if you blink you will miss it. Walked in and a very friendly waitress said we could sit anywhere. She brought both the lunch and breakfast menus because I never know what I want. They had a lot of choices - I was pretty surprised. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with scrambled eggs and toast...I needed the grease... IT WAS FABULOUS. Home made with love for sure. Their bread was also fresh from a local bakery and I'm certain I could have eaten a whole loaf. Dad and the b/f both got the standard eggs, ham, bacon. The b/f also got french toast and it was so yummy. This place got 5 stars for these reasons: It was remarkably clean The staff was very friendly The food was fresh and REALLY delicious It was fairly priced We plan on going back when we head back up to the Yoop later this summer. Every summer we go to the Wakefield/Ironwood area for a week and have to stop in the Korner Kitchen for Friday fish fry because it is SO good. There are non-fried options for the fish, but we like the fried version so much that's all my husband and I have ever ordered there. We took my brother-in-law there recently and he ordered the baked haddock (or maybe it was cod) and declared it delicious. Our favorite side with the fish is the home made potato salad. It tastes just like my mom or I made it... not overly sweet or saucy like some places make it. The setting isn't anything fancy (what is in the UP?), but the food is home made and delicious. read more

We found this place thanks to Yelp. After a day of snow shoeing in the Porkies, the family was hungry. We unknowingly walked in just before it closed and the very friendly waitress sat us without even mentioning it. (We realized it while we were eating.) We ordered the cheese curds because of another yelp review, and our six year old declared them to be "the best ever." They were great. The food came our quickly and everything tasted good. We ordered moo-oink-cluck burger, chicken strips, turkey melt, cheeseburger, and pancake with strawberries and cream (6 yr old again!). The lunches came with perfect French fries. The bathrooms were clean, the staff was friendly and conversational, and we were happy to support this local business. Highly recommend! read more

Had lunch, 3 good size pieces of baked haddock, fish swimming in melted butter, and accompanied by a very generous portion of potato salad and coleslaw. Bill was $9! Chelsea was my server; she was knowledgeable, friendly and engaged an appropriate sequence of service. A very pleasant overall surprise. Absolutely the best place to stop in for breakfast or lunch. They are open from 6am-2pm. You'll always have friendly service and the food is excellent! Even when it was fully packed on a Sunday morning, we got our food very quickly. They have a large selection of breakfast and lunch items and they are easy to deal with when it comes to special requests. If you're ever in town, I suggest stopping in and trying the loggers omelet. If that's not for you, they have excellent wraps and a new home made soup every few days. Regardless of the time, you can still get breakfast. If you want to order a cheeseburger at 6am, that's what you can get. If you want to order a late breakfast at 1:50, they will be accommodating and stay open for you to enjoy your meal.
