Crawfish/crayfish/crowdads were flavorable too. It's definitely a new amosphere to have in Madison. I was excited too see how well this establishment compares to Kpot. Kpot is great, love it but this place, just as almost. Only downside is that, during the time when i went, they didn't have tablets for placing orders for each table. It's not a dealbreaker but I do think that would have been better. Customers won't have to wait for their waiter/waitress to come back to the table everytime and place orders. Also keeps the customers from going at their own pace and essentially this could mean leaving sooner and being able to get more customers to seat. read more

Use to love the Korill Hut Korean BBQ & Hot Pot. We had eaten there many times before but the last time we went with a huge family group, my son had eaten literally 2-3 fries from the sauce bar area and was just tired and fell asleep at the table as we ate. Waitress even asked how he was doing and I informed her that he was probably tired from school. When the check came I asked if we could just pay for an appetizer or something since my son didn't eat any of the Korean BBQ. Just a couple of fries and she said it was store policy to still charge him a full dinner buffet. The food is all right and all. I wouldn't say it's amazing by any stretch but the experience of getting charged a full meal when the waitress clearly acknowledged my sleeping child really soured me to this place. The sad part was I would have been more willing to give her a larger tip for being accommodating but I guess policy is policy. Policy is also what lost you a returning customer. read more

Frequent flyer here. Probably have been more than 10 times because it's just that good. They have the option of kbbq, hot pot, or hotpot + kbbq ($5 more). The meat is fresh, and you can tell it's not frozen as it does not seep with water when you cook it *FYI for other places*. For the hot pot, there is availability for individual soups rather than a shared one. There is a self-serve section for sauces, desserts, and sides. Maybe uniquely to Wisconsin, there is AYCE crawfish, which makes this place 10x better. For sauces, would recommend a combination of garlic + green onion + ponzu sauce & gochugang + soy bean paste + garlic; thank me later. Impressed by this AYCE KBBQ spot in Madison. They have both hotpot and KBBQ - but I've only tried the KBBQ. The KBBQ meat quality was unexpectedly really good for AYCE. The self-serve area includes typical KBBQ offerings (fruit, banchan, sauce bar), but some unexpected finds were the crawfish, french fries, and coconut sago. They have a great vent system here as well so you won't smell like food after eating. read more

Korill Hut is a mall-side, AYCE Korean BBQ (and/or hot pot) restaurant that definitely tastes like they're better than your average mall food. The meats were of decent quality, and the sides were also quite pleasant. They also provide... butter? to help grease the grill. This was the first I've had a KBBQ place offer butter, and honestly, it helped keep the meat from sticking, though it didn't really mesh well with marinated meats. I think the one thing I could really say I was a bit let down by was the variety of meats offered. Yes, a lot of the KBBQ classics (bulgogi, brisket, pork belly, short rib) are covered, but some of my favorites - beef belly, pork ribs, and a non-marinated option for squid - are all dishes that I definitely missed. It had been me and another persons first time there, and the waitress knew that and didn't do a great job at explaining how anything worked. We stopped in for an early lunch on Saturday with 2 adults and 4 kids. We chose the hot pot option only. They had plenty of meats, seafood, and pot stickers to choose from, but not many vegetable options. When the bill came, I was a bit shocked because the kid prices were much higher than what was advertised at the entrance (charged $17.99 instead of $12.99). After paying and leaving, I went back to the front desk to double-check, and I was definitely overcharged. When I tried to show the woman at the counter, she was very rude and chose to argue with me about my kids' ages instead of noticing that we had been accidentally charged the hot pot/BBQ price. Thankfully, our very kind server came over at the perfect time and explained that we were mistakenly charged the wrong price. The manager stepped in and fixed it quickly, which I really appreciated. Mistakes happen, and the staff handled the correction well--but they may want to consider a different person for the front counter. This is my favorite hot pot place they offer fresh food and also have lunch specials. I have been here about 15 times and it's always so good. The employees know me by face and greet me with warm welcomes and see you next week goodbyes. Friends and I visited Korill Hut, and we were greatly surprised by the food! We did the Korean BBQ option for lunch and it was pretty busy. There were three people in my group, and they sat us down at a really big table. While we appreciated all the space, it was hard to hear each other talk. The food was pretty good! There were a few dishes that were a bit too salty, which was a bummer. The appetizers and sides that they offered were great! I loved how there was a little seafood boil and as a fries gal, I really appreciated having crispy fries. The only appetizer I was not a fan of was the kimchi, as I felt like it was not fermented enough and that the flavors did not soak into the vegetables well. The service was really quick and our server was attentive. They came back every so often so that we could order more meats, and the timing was good. I did feel like the service on grill changes could be improved, though. The restaurant offers butter to grease up the grill, but the grill got charred really quickly. read more

I've been feeling like I wasn't able to get good KBBQ while out in Wisconsin (I'm from NJ) but then finally took myself to this newISH restaurant. I really appreciated their selection of sides and sauce options as those are very crucial parts of Korean bbq. The meat options were also endless with options including steak, salmon, and more! Although the food was amazing, there weren't many options for children. Our group included six adults, and unfortunately, our server wasn't very familiar with the menu. For example, when I asked where we could find the kimchi, she told us it wasn't on the menu--even though it was. I understand the restaurant is new and still working out a few kinks, but staff should be well-informed about what's being served. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the ambiance is very nice. I do recommend keeping the AC on, as it was a bit warm during our visit. Pretty decent place, the atmosphere and setting are cute and inviting. Madison doesn't have many places like this, you feel like you're in Chicago or Milwaukee. The booths are spacious and wide to accommodate large parties. The meat quality and quality was fine, not too much and not too little. The veggies fresh and crisp. Love that they offer several varieties for hot pot broth, other places have only a spicy and non spicy but this place had three of each. The service was excellent, not too pushy and not neglectful. And the boba is delicious!!! We got a fruit one and asked for half the sugar and it tasted plenty sweet. Didn't get a chance to taste the tapioca pearls though. However, I didn't realize that you make your own food, which is one of my pet peeves - if I'm going to treat myself and eat out, the last thing I want to do after paying for overpriced food is have to make it myself (and wait longer for it because of that). So, this isn't really for me. I was disappointed because I thought it was a buffet. I have NO idea how a family could eat at a place like this - the little burner is so small, it's hard enough to put just one person's on it, let alone trying to make food for multiple people. Im disappointed for Korill today. Its usually good about getting seated. But for some odd reason... Came in around 6 got on the waiting list they said, o it's 10 min waite. So we order our drinks sat athe the bar... And then watch 4 big groups come in and got seat before us. Plus a group of 3 people. And then they claim its because they have a bigger group. And for us it was just 2. And I was on top of the waiting list.. He even said your next but that was 15 min again and letting other groups get seated. She walked us through the process and answered all of our questions. The " appetizer bar" ( included in the price) was also good! Some of the appetizers that I can remember were kimchee ( both daikon and cabbage...one being hotter than the other), melon, fresh pineapple, orange sections, various vegetables, French fries ( yes... French fries... and really good ones!) and some kind of an Asian dessert... small, sesame seed covered balls made from bean curd...sweet and delicious...just forgot the name! I think the fact that it was all-you-can-eat and even the lunch menu was quite plentiful, it was worth the price.
