I had never tasted Afghan food before, like a lot of people in the SLO County area I would guess. When I saw this new restaurant online, I decided to go. The flavors were delicious, and not quite like anything I had tasted before, but just good. As an appetizer on the table they had dried chickpeas, pistachios and some dried berries I liked a lot. I ordered the dumplings, with beef inside and topped with chickpeas (?) and pomegranate, with a side of yogurt sauce and lentils. An interesting tasty mix of savory with a little sweet. They also had a vegetarian dish option, though I didn't order it. In addition to the dumplings the chef brought me some pakora (?), which she said were fried spinach and potato fritters, with a delicious side sauce (maybe cilantro?)--these pakora with the sauce were my favorite, so good. I could have eaten a whole plate of those. The rice pudding dessert was also a treat, as was the green tea. The chef and hostess were super friendly and welcoming, and the seating area though a little small was nice and peaceful. It looks like they are currently only open Saturday 11am-3pm, but it was totally worth making the window of time!

Had an amazing lunch here. The menu is small, and we ordered one of each things available. It was all super unique and delicious. The women running the restaurant were lovely as well. Will definitely be back.

Salata- Afghani Salad. Cucumber, walnuts, radishes, tomatoes, red onion, pomegranate, cilantro, dried mint. So refreshing!

Gorgeous new spot in San Luis Obispo to enjoy Afghani cuisine. Open Saturdays 11-3 for lunch only. The food is amazing and unlike anything we have in SLO. We had 3 separate dishes and loved everything. The food is so flavorful, but light. The patio is like a little oasis. My kids loved the spiced chicken with rice and shredded carrots. The eggplant dish was cooked perfectly. Warm service and unique food experience. A hidden gem worth the planning to go.

The ambiance was warm, quiet, and inviting with a charming country feel. There was plenty of space, which made it comfortable and relaxing after a long drive. We were greeted by Nolan, who is clearly passionate about both food and hospitality. He took the time to answer all of our questions, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we sat down. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared--but what truly made this experience unforgettable was how special they made it for my son. My son, Orion, created his own dish and proudly presented it to Nolan. Not only did Nolan embrace it with enthusiasm, but the team actually turned it into a daily special and put it up on the menu board. That alone would have been incredible--but it gets even better. On our way home that Friday, we stopped back in to grab a carrot cake to go, and to our surprise, Orion's creation was displayed on the wall. Seeing his idea come to life meant the world to him--and to me. That kind of care, encouragement, and attention to detail is something you just don't find everywhere. This wasn't just a great meal--it was a memorable experience we'll be talking about for a long time. Thank you to Nolan and the entire team at The Switch SLO for going above and beyond. We will absolutely be back.

For a while they wouldn't let you order the sandwiches a la carte, you had to order their fries. They also used to have a nice blueberry sauce you could order on the chicken sandwich. no more. Once I realized they changed my beloved chicken breast to an inferior one there was no longer a reason to eat here. Sorry.

We were looking for a place to have dinner to celebrate our anniversary…read more We looked around yelp the night before and found this gem. We made a reservation for the next day. We originally made our reservation for 7:30 p.m.... we then decided we wanted to perhaps change it to 6:30. We called ahead and hopes that they could accommodate us. They said they couldn't promise anything but they would try. We showed up around 6:15. And they sat us down around 6:35. We had a beautiful window seat overlooking the ocean and had a perfect view of the sunset. I forgot our server's name but he was amazing. This place sounds fancy and bougie but it's really not. The food might be, but the vibe is not. There's no dress code. Everything we ordered was soooo tasty and delicious! We ordered fish and chips, baked clams, a wedge salad, and seafood pasta. For drinks we had two mocktails that were just okay. We also got a couple of flour tortillas with some cinnamon butter and a salsa trio. Our server suggested we spread butter inside the tortilla and drizzle our favorite salsa inside. So good. After dinner we decided to walk around the restaurant and appreciate the views. I'm so glad we came here. We will definitely come back next time we come to Pismo Beach

Both breads did come out a bit cold though and I wish the sourdough was crispier. - Beet and endive salad (4/5): one of the best beet salads we've had. The sauce really brings the dish together with the herbed goat cheese flavor shining subtley through. - Bone marrow tots (4/5): this was the reason we wanted to try come ox + anchor and it did not disappoint. We couldn't really taste the bone marrow, which we had expected to shine, but the tots themselves were perfectly crispy and flavored. We both also loved the horseradish creme fraiche that helped cut through some of the heaviness of this dish. Note though that there is an odd amount of tots per dish so my gf and I had to fight over the last one. - 10oz american wagyu flat iron (5/5): we ordered this medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. The steak was juicy but not overly fatty since it was consistently marbled. It was seasoned well but we loved trying all the different complimentary sauces with it - especially the red wine bordelaise sauce. So glad we tried this! - Ox burger with aged cheddar (5/5): Super fresh tasting and not oily at all. Juicy and super aromatic to the bite. Brioche bun was slightly sweet and made the dish well balanced. We also loved the tomato relish that was included as it was super unique and delicious. It was a bit odd having the lettuce, tomato, pickle, and pickled onion on the side but we had it like a side salad and it worked out ok. The fries included were yummy and definitely get the lemon aioli to add to some bites! - Meyer Lemon Cheesecake (5/5): Not heavy or overly sweet at all which we really appreciated since we were stuffed at this point. It was great how the orange sherbet cut through the lemon flavor. - Dark chocolate, baking soda, honey comb - Appreciated this small dessert for our Valentine's Day dinner. The honeycomb was dehydrated and crunchy when biting but softens and gets sticky when chewing. - Towel w almond smell Overall (5/5): Late review for our Valentine's day reservation. Service was super friendly and helpful, especially at explaining the menu. Ambiance was pretty vibey with candlelight but it was a bit noisy. Overall food and vibes were amazing and it was one of the best meals we had that weekend!

It was juicy and all went well together. For our main we shared the duck leg confit and American wagyu which were very good. The steak needed no sauce. It was juicy and flavorlf. The duck was crispy and paired nicely with the cherries. We ended our meal with the chocolate dome. We could not stop eating it.

Super attentive, genuinely hardworking, and honestly impressive. I ordered the crispy milkfish (the famous Filipino national fish), and my husband had the chicken skewers. The seasoning was slightly bold, but with rice it was perfectly balanced -- exactly how it should be. At the next table, a group ordered noodles and Crispy Pata. What a generous portion of the food! Let me just say: that pork leg looked like something a medieval barbarian would proudly feast on. Huge. Legendary. Easily enough for four people. This is not a "small portion" place. This is a come hungry, leave very full kind of place -- in the best way. We were curious about the ube ice cream, and they kindly treated us to it. A lovely surprise and a sweet ending. Bonus: Bible verses on the walls made the whole space feel warm and welcoming. Great food, generous portions, kind people. This feels like a place destined to succeed. We'll be back.

The flavor was alright but I've had better lumpia anywhere else. Also curiously small in size. Lechon Kawali: Whenever we got a piece of the pork rind/skin it was nice and crispy. Unfortunately all we got in our order was pork skin. Only about 10% was any actual pork meat. We basically got chicharron. Pancit Bihon: This was the third best part of our order. There was a nice assortment of proteins, got some shrimp, chicken, and sausage. However it was a bit dry. Garlic Rice: Nice and flavorful, not too oily or salty. My favorite savoury item that I tried. Can't go wrong and it complements every main dish. Halo Halo: This was the best part of our order. The ube ice cream complimented the other ingredients. It was sweet (as it should be) but this was balanced by all the different textures. As far as service goes, we chose to do takeout so can't speak much on that. The wait was about half an hour which may have been longer than usual because a large birthday party was dining in when we arrived. We were assisted as promptly as the single worker taking orders could. The interior is very casual. One thing I'd keep in mind if dining in is that the place can get pretty smokey. Not sure how their ventilation system is but when I came back to pick up my order, the inside was looking a little hazy. Cost would deter me from coming back because our order was nearly $70 for what we got. The Halo Halo alone was $10. The quality of what we got did not justify the high price. It could have just been a bad day because they had a bigger party to tend to but it shouldn't affect the quality of food coming out even if it's just for first time take-out orders.
