took a good while to get drinks. Took even longer to bring drinks out. Took EVEN longer to get orders placed. Had empty cups for a long time. Food was not very good. Very unfriendly waitress. Not as positive as a waitress should be. Seasoning on chips was way too much. Standing at the bar it took 5 minutes to get them to even notice us. Pretzels were good though don't get me wrong. Men's bathroom looked like a jail cell. Women's bathroom there was no lock on the stall nor the door to enter the restroom. I haven't been to the Kopper Kettle in years, but was referred to it recently via a friend's parents from Monogaltuckey. They have been making frequent trips out to dine in the greater Washington area and had nothing but glowing remarks. Regrettably, I missed the monthly prime rib special by one week. My consolation was a ribeye steak with all of the fixin's that was prepared perfectly medium as requested. Along with a side of pasta and a nice, filling salad, my meal was overall quite tasty. I preferred the marinara sauce we had with our fried zucchini appetizer, but the meat sauce with my side of spaghetti was still decent. Others in my party had a meatball sandwich, portabella chicken (one of the daily specials), and a Reuben sandwich. The former two were qualified as 'very good', but the latter was noted to be outstanding. Lean chipped corned beef on a marble rye with a dressing that made the whole sandwich come together perfectly. Service was top-notch and the noise level (for an early dinner on Saturday) was low. The prices were modest, with the most expensive menu item being @ $24-25. While the restaurant might be a little out of the way for some, it's not difficult to get to being located on the corner of a main road (Route 40). It's also not far from a highway exit (Laboratory on I-79). There's no question that I will return, it's simply a matter of how often. read more

Amazing service and great food! Have to say I was. Rey impressed with the service at this establishment. My waitress was amazing, but everyone who walked by my table asked if I needed anything. All of this while they were at capacity. Ordered the Mozzaluna which is mozzarella sticks on steroids. Just the right amount of crispy and gooey with flavorful marinara. Then on the the main dish which I got 5 hot garlic and 5 extra hot chicken wings. The hot garlic was good, but the extra hot is where it's at! If you like sweaty spicy then you're in luck with these bad boys. And the flavor...well I couldn't stop eating them while the inferno was raging in my face hole. Kopper Kettle is a hidden gem just outside of the city of Washington. Their beer selection is extensive, and their food is very good. You would be surprised to find those things out, because the restaurant looks like a regular old bar on the outside. This is not your typical bar food, they even have nightly specials. I go here with my family every now and again, and it's great! In my opinion it's a nice meetup, on weekdays it's empty. So just pop on in on a weekday for a party/reunion etc and you'll have yourself a pretty great time, the beer fries are crispy and delicious. The best fries ever. And it also is like pretty much a ghost town majority of the time, which is undeserved on the hand of the chefs and people who cook the meals. It should be packed. But luckily it isn't so we can actually get food because when it's busy it takes forever to get service, but hey that's how that works. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I had such a pleasant experience all around this evening. Service was AMAZING. Our server Kaisi was fantastic, personable, and attentive. Food was all around great! We started with their pretzel stick appetizer, which was a melt in your mouth experience. I lucked out on being in town on their prime rib Saturday (2nd Saturday of every month). They have tasty horseradish sauce (and raw) to go with the prime rib. We also ordered the steakhouse burger, which had a nicely sized hand-formed patty. Onion rings were great too. We lucked out with a free dessert due to extras accidentally made. We had the brownie sundae, and yes, they warm up the brownie! Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. I wanted to go somewhere else and asked for local opinions. Those locals said drive the extra 7 miles and go to the kopper kettle because it's a better place. Boy were they right. It's a small place but nice to be in. Went on a Sunday, wasn't too busy. Staff was really friendly. Wife and I each got a burger and a nacho appetizer. Nachos did not have cheese, but the salsa made up for it. Burgers were great! You could tell they were fresh, seasoned well, and awesome buns on them. We did wait a little longer for food, but it could have just been an off evening for all I know. You can tell they put a lot of attention and care into their product. We were traveling through, and stopped here for lunch because of the positive yelp reviews. The restaurant and restrooms were super clean. The waitress was very friendly and very prompt. I enjoyed my ice tea, but not my pierogies. The menu said they would be sautéed in butter, but it was clearly some kind of butter flavored oil. I put a menu under the corner of my plate to drain all of the oil off of my food. There had to be at least a tablespoon if not more of oil on my plate. It just tasted like oil. Do not let the 'bar feel' fool you! We stopped by on our family's cross country road trip after reading good reviews on Yelp. We were a bit scared at the look of the place, but decided to give it a shot. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of 2- dozen wings (mild and Thai chili spicy) with fries. Our waitress was super welcoming and reassured us that it was a family bar and restaurant. We were with our 13 and 9 year old boys. We were happy we tried it and would definitely come back! We had a horrible experience at the Kopper Kettle. Everyone who lives in the area always raves about their food but we were not impressed. Our waitress told us she was new and we could tell. We ordered the mozzarella wedges that were not bad but I think we were hungry. We were waiting on a few guests and they had already sat down and ordered their food after us and we're almost done eating before we even got the rest of our meal. I ordered the steak hoagie and fries which was just ok. Nothing special. My husband had their wings and was not impressed. He said they were good in the past but not this trip. Our daughter got the cookies and cream cheese cake for dessert and did love it. That's why I gave my rating 2 stars. The waitress also tried to charge us for extra food that was placed on our families bill and when we asked her about it she brought another tables check to us, then proceeded to tell us another waitress would handle the problem. She only came back to our table maybe twice and other tables had even sat down ate and left that she was also helping before we got our food. I believe the owner/manager maybe did ask about our service and the issue, proceeding to apologize but I feel like the damage was already done.
