Kösem stood out in offering the ambience of a full sit-down restaurant, as well as in offering a much wider selection than many of their neighbours. The menu was divided into a few main sections - durums, grilled meats (lamb, chicken, salmon, etc.), classic cooked foods (güveç, sac kavurma, etc.), and a value deal of two selections from the specialties of the day (lamb shanks, karnıyarık, kofte, etc.). Each of the larger meals included a serving from the meze bar, choice of rice or bulgar pilav, and house-made bread. (Small quibble: they forgot to bring our bread on 2 out of 2 visits, though there was more than enough food without it, and they promptly brought some when the oversight was pointed out.) Frankly, we both agreed that the grilled lamb was the best we have had in ages. Maybe we were there on an especially good night, but I don't care. It was delicious. Our opinions were more divided on the cooked specialties of the day. My husband thought they were absolutely delicious, while I thought they were just respectably tasty. Either way, we enjoyed the meal enough to return a couple days later for a repeat. This time the grilled lamb, grilled salmon, and cooked specialties were all declared a great success. In addition to tasty food, we found the owner-operator very friendly and accommodating. He was happy to help a couple of tourists put together the best possible meals from his daily offerings, regardless of whether our interests matched up with the actual menu items. Just look at the delicious food on offer, tell the nice man what you want, and he will find a way to make it work.

It even seems like the falafel is handmade, at any rate, the falafel paste is taken from a bowl and shaped and fried to order. I have been three times in the last six months, and it keeps impressing me deeply. The owner is so friendly, and you get to take your exact pick of the toppings (various salad items, yoghurt, sometimes hummus, chilli etc.) to go in your bread. Toppings are also very fresh and appetizing. The prices are ridiculously low for the volume you get. Top tip: Even if you feel very hungry, chances are the pita will be enough to fill you up. It is huge! Only drawback I guess is that the small dining space is a little "cold", held in stark black colours and mirror surfaces. Not a place that invites sitting for hours and savouring the atmosphere. But hey, that is not what you go to a kebab place for anyway, and the friendliness of the owner more than makes up for it! Prices: 35 DKK for a HUGE pita, 45 DKK for an even huger durum roll. Get it to go if you can, but if you live far away eat it there. The food is really delightful.

Fast order, pleasant shawarma master, clean display, clean interior, nothing to complain about. The durum wrap itself was really delicious, baked after I ordered. Meat had a very good flavour with a lot of spices dominating the taste which is correct for my taste (since it's in most cases lamb which has a very strong odour). They added some salad, tomatoes, pickled cabbage, onions and some jalapeños along with a creme fraiche dressings and my durum kebab was ready. Price was 39DKK which is probably slightly more than other shawarma bars around Norrebro but totally okay with me and it is worth it. Since I am in the area quite often, I will most likely be back very fast. That was my first time at this place and certainly not last.

The service was great, very attentive and fast, which is always a huge bonus, especially when you're a bit drunk... I am not totally sold on their cheese chips/fries only because the cheese wasn't melted enough, but man did it make for some fantastic drunk food! I had it with salsa which I mixed some of the chili sauce on the table into to cut through the cheese, and it was pretty damn good. I wasn't hungry enough for a burger too, so cheese chips/fries was all I ordered. I'll be back to try an actual burger one of these days as they have both vegan and vegetarian patties. It's also halal and can serve paleo buns consisting of portobello mushrooms, so it's a pretty big win-win for everybody.

We ordered from the sweet lady behind the counter and she had the food packed and ready to go shortly after. Since it was such a nice day, we took our paper bag to Assistens Kirkegård. Everything was nicely packed and didn't shift around at all in our short walk. I went with the Mohammed Ali which comes with double cheese, double bacon, pickles, and fried onions as well as the usual salad and tomatoes. The burger was wrapped in paper and also put in a paper box to keep it safe. Unfortunately I'd forgotten to ask for the beef to be cooked medium rare, but surprisingly it still tasted great. The whole wheat bun was a little dry but had a nice, nutty flavour. Cheese was perfectly melted and though the bacon was not crispy, it was a good burger as a whole. On Monday to Friday the meal price is 89 dkk after 4pm and the lunch special before that is 69 dkk. It includes fries and dip. This is great for those of us who don't normally like soda or would rather have a beer with it, as the drink is not included in the price. The fries were fine and as for the dip, well, I just wanted ketchup. I spooned a little bit of chili paste into the cup of ketchup before I left, so that perked things up a bit. I like that your meal can be so customizable here, much like Halifax, only Burgerklubben seems to execute it better and at a lower price. In addition to serving only halal meat, they also offer vegan and vegetarian patties, as well as portobello mushrooms for a paleo "bun," so everyone can enjoy food together. I'll definitely swing by here again!
