Ambiance - it's located in a mall food court, that's all you need to know. Service and food - fast food style. Review the billboard menu above the counter, pay, and wait for your food. I think the allure of the place is they offer Korean street food in upstate NY. Where else can you get a Korean corn dog (K dog, Gamja hotdog, 감자핫도그) upstate? There are also versions of tteokbokki (rice cakes in a sweet savory sauce) available, the gochujang version or the Rosé. While I didn't try the tteokbokki, the K dog was an interesting take on a corn dog. The crust is breaded with Panko so it's extra crispy. I don't know if the batter surrounding the hot dog is a mix of corn meal batter and mochi or not. It seems to have a distinctive chew to it. I liked it. Since this location opened up in crossgates mall, it's been a favorite/must have when we're at the mall. I love that there are no pork products so there's no issue with having the corn dogs all fried in the same oil as each other. Our favorite flavor of all the ones we've tried over the last couple years is the sweet chili corn dog. I love getting half beef half mozzarella so that I get the best of both flavors, my husband prefers getting the full beef corn dog. I highly recommend trying their corn dogs if you've always wanted to try Korean corn dogs! We pair it with bubble tea from berry & berry right across from the food court in the same area in the mall as Kong Dog. read more

Who doesn't love a good corn dog. These are even better. The sweet chili dorito dog was out of this world. I will most likely be back to try all of them. This was the situation. I was at the mall with my son picking up my daughter. He got some Chinese and I was not in the mood. So I took the walk and looked everywhere. So kong dog was very interesting. All kinds of cool looking options. And veggies stuff too. So I pulled the trigger and got the Doritos and sweet chili dog. Wasn't too bad 5 buck and it was half dog and half mozzarella. Hand battered and fried to order. After a couple minute wait it was pretty darn good. It's actually a jail food but don't tell anyone I know that. I'm a believer and I'd definitely go back. Would have been a five but the lady behind the counter was eating something while cooking and the guy helping with the kiosk ordering system asked for a tip. So the turn offs deducted a half star each. I'd recommend this place ! read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING AND YOU HAVE TO TRY IT AT LEAST ONCE! If you ever go to foodcourt in Crossgates, you'll see a store on the side. We walked by and noticed the line was very long. We still decided to try it out and boy was it worth it. They sell Korean Corn dogs here with different types of topping and you can also customize what you want on the inside. We got the potato and flaming hot corn dogs. Visually, they look amazing. Price was also affordable, it was around 5 dollars for each and it has pretty high portions. I recommend getting half mozzarella and half sausage so you get to taste both. You'll get some nice cheese pull. Just beware, it does take a while to make it because of the long line. But to me it was 1000% worth it. Will go there again next time to try out different toppings. read more

Came here with the wife on a "Date afternoon." Either because it was noon on a Sunday, or perhaps because the hype had died down, there were only two orders in front of us and practically no waiting. I had the "Sweet chili Doritos chicken sausage" corn dog, and my wife had the "Crispy potato half hotdog/half mozz." corn dog. Both came up reasonably quickly. Mine was really good, especially with the side of sweet chili dipping sauce. The crunchy Dorito pieces really made it shine, and they didn't skip on those. The chicken sausage looked just like a hot dog and tasted like one too, but when I brought it up to the counter to ask about it I was told that it really was chicken. I was picturing a white chicken sausage (like the one on their menu board) with a different flavor profile. Next time, I will just order a regular hot dog. My wife's was pretty good too, though I didn't prefer the string cheese portion as much. Once you cover it in friend potatoes, it just starts to taste greasy. All in all, a fun diversion before walking the mall. And it gives me ideas to experiment with at home in my own kitchen. read more

Interesting.. Kong Dog opened a location this week in the Crossgates Mall food court, which serves up a variety of sweet and savory corn dogs. Since they opened, the line in the food court for Kong Dog has been insane with lots of hype. Before coming to the mall, I just had a very good potato Korean Corn Dog at a local eatery with no long line. Another customer there was mentioning Kong Dog and the long line of 40+ minutes at the mall. I was warned, but headed over to Crossgates. The customer was not kidding about the long line here at the food court. It took about 40 minutes to get up to the counter to order.  They offer 10 sweet and savory Corn Dog choices with choices of fillings including beef sausage, mozzarella, half beef half mozz, chicken sausage, and plant based sausage. lThey had run out of plant based sausage and chicken sausage and no ramen dogs.  I ordered the 4 Churro Kong Dog, 5 Rainbow Kong Dog, 8 Spaghetti Kong Dog, and 9 Sweet Chili Doritos Kong Dog, all with the half beef sausage/half mozzarella filling total was $23.98. After ordering, I had to wait another 30 minutes for my Kong Dogs for my number to be called and order to be ready. When I went over to sitdown to eat I checked all the dogs I ordered. One dog did not look like the picture on the menu, the Spaghetti Kong Dog which looked like a plain crunchy corn dog. I went back to the counter and they gave me a cup of marinara sauce and parmesan cheese to dip or put on the dog. I guess I was all good now. I filled up and sampled each dog which was very tasty, some with the sweet tastes outside and savory taste inside and savory, sweet, and spicy tastes on the Chili Doritos Kong Dog. I would definitely come back to try their other Kong Dogs, but I will wait a bit for the hype to die down. read more

Many of my favorite dishes are foreign cuisine changed up for an American audience--the Philadelphia roll, General Tso's, Taco Salad, BBQ chicken pizza. You might not think the reverse would appeal to someone like me, but I love Kong Dog, which is basically hot dogs and mozzarella sticks made to appeal to Koreans.
