If you do order the cooked breakfast make sure you also ask for the veggie option of home made bubble and squeak to be added. This elevates the breakfast to another level. I now can't imagine ordering a breakfast without it. Apart form the breakfast the food is all great with interesting daily specials and cakes always available. Including homemade Marmalade of course. There is also a nice resident puppy called Doris who if you are lucky will say hello. Easily the best café in the Blackboy Hill area and I urge you to visit.

Their homemade marmalade is so good, I think about it throughout the year while I'm not in the UK. I'm not sure where they get their bacon, but it's absolutely killer. The anytime breakfast with a side of crumpets/marmalade with tea is about £8. You can't get a better deal than that for fresh, made-to-order food that's not greasy. I'm so glad this place has survived in an address that's historically had quite a bit of turnover.

However, I was told the full English breakfast here (they call it the Bristolian on their menu) was incredible so I gave it a whirl. I was not disappointed. In fact, I think they may have won me over. First off, the presentation was incredible. I didn't take a picture, but in retrospect I should have, just so you could see it. Second, everything was hot. Like, I burned my mouth because I didn't have the patience to wait for the food to cook a little bit. Worth it. Third, everything was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside, and perfectly flavored. The bacon was very tasty. The eggs were not over cooked, and were full of flavor. The baked beans were amazing (I didn't see this coming). I usually avoid them anywhere I go, but especially when they're part of breakfast in the UK. Wow! Also, the sesame infused spinach was better than I could have imagined. Fourth, they give you a large portion at a reasonable price. Considering the ingredients are premium quality, this is quite a feat. Being a fairly large guy, who needs a bit more to eat than your average person, I was satisfied with the portions. It's grand and light, and the food is good and reasonably priced. What would we change? We would upgrade the condiments, so that the ketchup is better, and that authentic maple syrup is used on our pancakes rather than golden syrup, which is thick and doesn't taste of much. We would also have preferred our meals a bit hotter, as we felt like we had to wolf it down before it got cold. But these are small niggles that can be easily fixed, and probably will be at some point if the professionalism of the staff is anything to go by. They're friendly, not over-familiar, not too pushy, and they seem to want to go out of their way to make sure you enjoy Cosy Club. The wine list is short, but will hopefully improve in time. As of writing, it's only been open a couple of weeks. I look forward to being able to buy Champagne by the glass!

If it's the food you're going for, I'd say there are plenty of other establishments in Clifton offering better value and quality than the Bridge Café - but you're really paying for the whole experience here, particularly the elegant surroundings and the location, and I'd highly recommend eating here at least once if only to enjoy what has to be one of Bristol's most striking and spectacular views.

However, don't let that put you off. Whilst it does have a full lunch and dinner menu breakfast/brunch is probably what it does best. On weekend mornings, you'll see it chock-a-block with people having smoked salmon bagels and cappuccinos, and this is the best time to visit. The evening meals are delicious though. The place is candle lit in the evenings too, transforming making for a quite intimate experience. This really has got the fundamentals of a good restaurant exactly right. The service is as sharp as anywhere else I've been recently, and you can see that plenty of attention has been given to the interior design. All the food I've had has been delicious. Having gushed about it I should warn that it's certainly not cheap, which is unsurprising given the location (Clifton Village) and probably explains the clientèle. An evening meal for five tops out at over a hundred pounds - this is somewhere for special occasions, or just when you're feeling rich. A piece of toast and a coffee won't cost that much though, so go for breakfast if you haven't got a spare fifty quid lying around in your wallet. Certainly don't pass it up completely just because of the prices, it's a delightful place that's should be on the list of places to go of anyone visiting in Bristol.

I popped in for a lovely cup of strong coffee with a pleasant view over the harbour. The food here is really very good. They do very good breakfast, ranging from a classic fry up to honey oat porridge. The also do a selection of brunches and lunches which again is very good. The prices are very reasonable too, therefore i would definitely recommend this cafe to spend a pleasant afternoon.
