I started going to KOMO a little over a year ago. What was initially a one-time visit to try something different than traditional weightlifting (my preferred form of exercise) quickly became something I'm borderline obsessed with. I love the challenge, I love the community, and I love the results. The instructors are motivating and the workout itself is tough but gratifying. There is something really sacred about being in a room full of strong, supportive women (and sometimes men!). I'm a huge fan of the space Joy has created and I encourage everyone to give it a try! You might just find your new can't-live-without-it workout! read more

Komo feels like so much more than a workout studio. I look forward to seeing instructors and classmates here every time I come. After a knee injury took me out for a while, I was worried I wouldn't be able to workout again. But Joy (the owner) helped me work through the injury. Now I feel even stronger than I was before the injury. read more

What can I say, another year goes by and I'm still going here. I've tried out other lagree studios on island and nothing quite clicks with me like KOMO. I love the ENERGY the instructors bring from the moment you walk in the door- I always feel welcomed, seen and encouraged. The workouts kick my butt no matter what level class it is since there can always be modifications. The instructors encourages by name, corrects your form, and are attentive. As much as I don't like driving from town to Kailua, KOMO gets me so I'll continue to make the sacrifice. Thanks for helping me show up to be a stronger better version than me. read more

Walking into a new fitness studio can be intimidating, but the 'Ohana' vibe at KOMO made me feel at home immediately. I really appreciate how the instructors accommodate all fitness levels and help you modify movements so you can progress safely. It's not just a workout; it's a place where I feel genuinely supported and pushed to be my best self. I look forward to every class! Definitely recommended if you are visiting or new to the area! read more

KOMO is my favorite place to start my mornings! Not only does it make me feel physically stronger, but mentally too. It's a great way to get out of your comfort zone and get real results. The studio also has great instructors, class formats, and scheduling to accommodate your schedule. Love KOMO!! read more

My love for Komo is so real. I've been coming for 5 years (about 2-3x a week) and I can't live without it. My core and obliques, all because of Komo. I love that classes are only 40 min so I can fit it into my schedule no matter how busy life gets. It's also a winning combo when I pair it with some cardio and strength training at the gym. Plus it's low impact so I'll be doing Lagree into my 90's. So ya I'm a Komo lifer read more

The Komo Lagree studio is amazing! There are a wide variety of classes and times to fit my busy schedule. All the instructors are experienced and top notch. They instruct you to challenge yourself and encourage you to make progress. A full body workout in 40 minutes. Thank Komo for supporting me to do hard things on purpose. The Komo community has helped bring my fitness to another level of success! read more

I stated lagree about 1 year ago. The instructors and other members have continued to be very welcoming and friendly. Its a very challenging workout and has helped me lose weight and tone up. I'm not perfect but I just keep trying. I actually appreciate having to sign up and commit, down side is the late cancelation feel. I'm sure I have gone more often because of the penalty. LOL. read more

KOMO has been a blessing!! I have been taking Lagree (similar to Pilates, you workout on a machine called a megaformer and emphasize slow reps of 4-6 counts in each direction to really fire up your slow twitch muscle fibers) classes at this studio for over three years and it never gets easier-in the best way!! The instructors are attentive and explain things clearly so you feel confident working out! They offer modifications for beginners, injuries, etc! As you understand the format of Lagree better, it only gets more exciting to challenge yourself by adding extra resistance, time under tension, or more challenging modifications. It's an effective 40 minute workout with encouraging instructors, clear cueing, and uplifting music! Every class is full body, although there are options of different class formats: Foundations: I used to only take these classes when I first started to get more comfortable with the machine and the moves-it's also great to start here after returning from a break PIHA: total body-this has a lot of variety and gives you a great full body workout! PIKO Core: an emphasis on core and upper body moves (although don't be fooled-every format toasts the core and upper body lol) MANA: extra resistance and a bigger emphasis on compound moves to really build strength and muscle! MAKIA: the sweatiest workout!! Cardio bursts help add an extra level of challenge! KOMO also offers yoga and occasional breathwork classes, both of which are taught by knowledgeable, thoughtful instructors as well. read more

KOMO has truly changed my life completely. I'm so grateful for the strength it's given me and how much it's helped my mental health. I had an injury a few years ago and this has improved my range of motion significantly. Mahalo to all of the instructors. I appreciate you all! read more

It's easy to get hooked on KOMO! As a lifelong runner, Crossfitter and weightlifter, KOMO is unlike anything I have tried before. The studio is a total vibe and is absolutely stunning and the instructors are so sweet but don't let all of that fool you... this workout is TOUGH. The movements are slow, controlled and will literally leave you shaking. Listen to the instructor, follow the cues and this workout will be unlike anything you've tried before. I look forward to each class and I am so glad I found this studio! read more

Holy guacamole! I thought I had made a review forever ago, but looks like I missed one of my favorite local businesses! I first tried a class at Komo through a Yelp event almost a year ago in January 2020. It was different - I wasn't sure if I'd continue, but I thought it was worth more than one try. So I went back again. And again. And then finally signed up for a monthly membership. And then COVID hit. Right when everything else stopped, Komo continued. They pivoted and communicated and created online content that kept members engaged and connected. Now that Hawaii is in Tier 2, in-person classes have resumed with a max of 5 people per class time. It's tough getting a spot in a class, but it makes the time that you're there even more precious. There are classes outdoors and indoors, temp checks, and the Lagree machines are wiped down twice after each class. Even aside from all their community involvement and resilience, the work outs themselves are incredible. They connect mind and body through slow, deliberate movements and build muscle with focused exercises. My weight may not have changed, but you know what has? My posture. My core. My outlook. I can't recommend trying Komo Studio enough - they are wahine-owned, civic minded, and full of aloha. read more

Every time I'm back, I have to work out at Komo! The workouts are killer, and the instructors are very friendly and motivating. Lagree can be imitating at first, but Komo is very inviting. Joy is so sweet, and despite only coming here for a month every year, she has a unique ability to make everyone feel part of the community! They have great class packs if you're in a similar situation or just on vacation but want to work up a sweat!! read more

Moving for work frequently, I have tried many gyms, and I can say with certainty that KOMO Studio is exceptional. I am so thankful to have found this gem. KOMO is a great reminder of why Lagree is my favorite practice, from the supportive instructors to the sense of strength each class gives me, it is to no surprise that I am always looking forward to my next class. read more

First of all, the Lagree method definitely kicks butt! All of the instructors here are super attentive and know their stuff. I jokingly say I feel like I'm going to throw up after every class which to me is a sign of a really good class! Rachael Britney Susan, and on are all superb instructors. I've been coming here when I'm on vacation since KOMO opened and they just get better and better. read more

Best place in town to workout. Low impact and high intensity exercises, excellent instructors welcome space and positive environment. If you want to improve your health and performance you definitely need to schedule an class. read more

I started to attend classes at KOMO at the beginning of October 2024. I bought the BOGO deal for locals and took one class a week. The very first class I attended was with Naomi who was so kind to text me the day before my class to introduce herself and see if I had any questions. She also saved me the best machine for first-timers which made me feel so special. I have now been going to 3 months and I have to say the experience has been life-changing. Every instructor is different and has different strengths. I learned that it's not about finding "the best instructor" and only attending their classes. It's about building a relationship with the instructors and my fellow classmates that really helps me improve and feel welcome. If you take the time to ask the instructors questions, you'll find that every one of them have hearts of gold and only want to help. I highly recommend checking out KOMO if you're looking for an amazing place to get fit and build a strong empowered network of women. Also, the low impact workouts are the best! I feel stronger and have had zero issues with my joints (which is a big deal for me)! Hope to see you there!! read more

I absolutely love KOMO Studio! The workout is amazing and produces results, FAST. I love the instructors. They all are full of positive energy. When I complete a class, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I know I have pushed myself to improve the mind-muscle connection. I never feel intimidated, even when I can barely hold a position. The other people that attend are equally as supportive. It is a wonderful experience to be able to go do something so good for you and leave feeling stronger, empowered, and able to tackle whatever the day may bring. The studio is very clean. I noticed the distinct smell of Tea Tree after the first class, even before the COVID lockdown. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking close by. What sets this studio apart is the staff. I truly feel that they care for me, more than to just take my money. And I am getting in great shape! read more

Joy's Komo studio is beautifully decorated, clean, well ventilated (air purified by Molekule!), and just great. Best Lagree classes I've attended anywhere! This is *not* Pilates so don't get it twisted! This is Lagree - megaformer so if you're new to Lagree it's best to come to a foundations/beginner class so they can help you learn the correct positions and names of the moves so you get the max out of your workout. If you aren't using the right position or making the right adjustments you're robbing yourself of the glory of the full workout potential! I've attended the Mana (strength), Piha (total body), Mā Kia (endurance) classes and highly recommend any of them for a full body, fat blasting, cardio/strength/resistance workout. Every teacher has been attentive to form, as well as encouraging in a way that pushes you to your max. The classes encourage you to Slow Down! Rather than rushing through the movements so you can activate your slow twitch muscle fibers - these muscle fibers support your metabolism (so you continue burning calories after your workout is over) and also help you build your muscle endurance. After just a few classes I can see a marked improvement in my strength, endurance and also inches of Covid weight melting off my body. Love this studio so much! There are also bathroom facilities and the megaformers are cleaned after every class. Each class has a different routine so you're never bored! And great playlists. Komo will sculpt and change your body and all the people who attend are friendly as well :) read more

I've been coming to KOMO for about six months now and can't tell you how addicting this workout is. These small, slow movements are guaranteed to make you shake and sweat. It's very challenging but also VERY rewarding - it's the perfect physical and mental exercise for me. The studio is always clean. The music played during class somehow always the intensity of the workout and really gets you in the zone. I believe it's the only megaformer class on the island, too! This year, they started offering different types of classes that have different focuses. You have your foundation (basic), core, endurance and strength. I really enjoy these updated classes and you really feel the emphasis on whatever they are teaching that day (especially Naomi's endurance lol). Aside from the great workout and studio, I love the community and the instructors that come with it the most! The instructors are always so kind and motivational. They really want to make sure you are challenging yourself (and not at all in the scary, pushy way). It's always so reassuring to see their friendly faces even right before they take you through one hell of a workout. read more

This studio is the best of everything and unlike anything I've ever experienced in a fitness studio/gym. I live in Ewa and whenever I have the opportunity, I drive all the way to Kailua just to do one of these workouts. It's that good. Not to mention that the owner Joy is an absolute sweetheart and one of the best parts of KOMO. She has so much passion for the lagree method and is dedicated to helping each client get the most out of each workout. When I first heard of the Lagree method and saw videos of the workouts, I thought it was just slow yoga-esque movements on the mega former machine. Needless to say, I was SO wrong. These high intensity, low impact classes are brutal but in the best way possible! Each class only allows 10 people max which makes them very personable. The instructors constantly go around the room to ensure you have the right form and are going at a slow and steady pace, which is vital to the efficacy of these workouts. I always leave this studio dripping in sweat and sometimes asking myself "what did I just put myself through?" But the physical and mental results of knowing what your body is able to accomplish in these workouts is addicting and can't be beat! read more

What a wonderful studio. As for myself, I am impressed with the various teaching styles that each instructor possesses and the way each instructor describes each exercise. I am new to Lagree/megaformer exercises and I have enjoyed my first week of classes here. What a great way to utilize the mind-body connection. Keep up the great work KOMO! read more

If you're looking for a new way to challenge yourself mentally and physically, you should check out KOMO Studio in Kailua! KOMO Studio took over the space that was formerly Titan Core on the corner of Hekili Street and Hamakua Drive, across the street from Foodland. Joy, one of the trainers, purchased the exercise equipment and Lagree license and took over the space with her KOMO Studio brand. The ownership change is clear, with new branding and aesthetics that reference our Hawaiian culture and the beauty of nature that we're so fortunate to enjoy every day. KOMO Studio is the only Lagree Method studio on O'ahu. The Lagree Method is a type of workout invented by fitness guru Sebastien Lagree that is high intensity and low impact, so this is perfect if you're recovering from an injury, or otherwise have a need to take it easy on your joints. Make no mistake, though, this is personally the most challenging workout I've done, and I've done MMA bootcamp and Crossfit. It's because this workout emphasizes slow and controlled movements to build endurance. I know runners and yoga devotees who cross-train here to round out their fitness. The trainers here are positive and encouraging. I'm always able to take away what the trainers say and what we do during class and apply it outside of the studio. One thing that I hear in class regularly is that "we do hard things on purpose," since that's what leads to change and growth. read more

As someone who is a huge fan of kick boxing and going to the cross fit classes, I was taken by surprise at how much I enjoyed the lagree fitness class. During the class, I genuinely understood the benefits that come from workouts involving slow movements. Previously, I have tried everything from cycling, yoga, cross fit, etc and I have never come across anything like this. I definitely think it was a great time and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys working out and want to try something different. This class also gave me that satisfying muscle ache afterwards as well... The instructor/owner Joy is also energetic and helpful when it comes to learning the different moves. Another thing I loved about this studio is how clean and nicely spaced everything was. I felt like I had enough space and could exercise freely without worrying about dirty equipment at all. I highly recommend trying out lagree fitness at Komo! It's unlike anything you've ever tried before! Parking: There is limited parking directly outside of the studio and if anything, there is street parking available as well. read more

I would frequent this studio when it was Titan Core and now I continue to go now that it's Komo. This really is such a unique studio. The workouts are HARD but in a good way. I LOVE these workouts and this studio. As I beginner, I felt completely welcomed. The instructors are so encouraging and were great at explaining every move. These classes are so motivating - the instructors really push you to challenge yourself in a positive way. The refrain I keep hearing is: you took this time to invest in yourself, so make the most of it. It's 50 minutes of hard work, but in the best way possible! It's one of the best workouts I have gotten from a class and I can already tell a difference in my strength. I'm hooked! And I'm brining my husband this weekend :-) read more

Komo Hawaii has been an absolute game-changer for me. As someone who favored cardio-heavy workouts like running or cycling, I sought a way to diversify my fitness routine to add in some strength training, especially with my wedding on the horizon. Super knowledgeable and passionate instructors guided me through challenging workouts that targeted muscles I didn't even know I had. The results were just *awesome* -- not only did I get in killer shape in time for my wedding (dropping 15 lbs overall in six months), but I am now significantly stronger, more flexible, and more confident. Thanks to Joy and her team for making me *actually* do a core workout -- and love every moment of it. read more

BEST INVESTMENT!!! Best place to get a killer workout in just 40 mins! I always feel better after every class! My body feels sore, but stronger! I LOVE that megaformer! I've tried many different types of workouts in my lifetime but this workout on the megaformer is like no other! It works every part of your body with little to no impact on your joints. This is, by far, the best workout I have ever done. It has made me not just physically stronger, but mentally stronger, as well. The instructors are so supportive. I feel safe going here because of the physical distance between people & the extremely thorough job they do cleaning every machine after every class. The workout itself is incredible. If you have never done a Lagree method workout, you are really missing out! It's a full body workout every time. You will see results! read more

When I first was introduced to this fitness called Lagree fitness, I was like, "What is that? sounds like yoga or something." For me, fitness and staying active is vital to my quality of life. I gave it a try and man it turned out to be something good! like really good!! I started as a beginner (back in 2018). The exercising machine you get to use is called a megareformer, which is awesome. Each time I joined a class I got better and better in improving my core and stabilizing my muscles. Each class is always different. Meaning, I struggle with the 4-second back and forth movements on the megareformer. But hey, I kept going. I don't know but those short struggle(s) taught me a lot of things about myself. Things that I'm getting better at or improving to be better. Each class gives you a killer 50-minute workout. Oh and you sweat! Feels so good after a class. You don't only get a physical workout but you train your mentality to be stronger. One saying I could tell you from class, "you have to be comfortable with the uncomfortable." You'll know what I mean when you try it for yourself. I have taken Joy's classes. She also has a good group of instructors as well ready to meet you! So I would highly recommend you try it. Who knows, maybe I will see you in class. Aloha, George :) read more

I found Komo on instagram right before they were opening. I scored a pretty awesome intro deal to try them out and am still using my credits. I was brand new to anything pilates related, especially mega former and lagree fitness. All of the instructors I've met, as well as the owner, are delightful. They're extremely helpful, fun and motivating. I've enjoyed every class and walked away very sweaty feeling the burn. I switched to pilates to get a good, low impact workout in and after trying some other regular reformer classes, I definitely prefer the megaformer that Komo has to offer. They are very beginner friendly and are quick to correct positioning or offer modifications. The instructor will demonstrate but spends most of the class observing- which is exactly how it should be in my opinion. This fitness is all about form and they're great at correcting and offering motivational reminders in class. One of the biggest reasons I went with their studio initially is their commitment to sustainability. They use washcloths and tea tree oil to clean the machines and promote sustainable living and merchandise. I love seeing a fitness studio putting in the extra work to help the planet! Depending on time of day, parking is usually a breeze nearby. I would be a member there all the time if my schedule allowed it and I lived in Kailua. For now, I'll have to settle for the occasional class. If you're in the area and/or looking for a good workout, I can't recommend them enough! read more

KOMO let me count the ways I adore ya! Komo is a community that I could not be more thankful to have discovered and be apart of. It has changed my life - always pushing me further and further mentally and physically. I am really amazed at the hard things I now know I can do, and that there is always room for growth! I have some chronic injuries that don't allow me to do anything high impact, so finding lagree which is low impact yet one of the hardest workouts I have ever done, was such good fortune. The bonus was the community that is KOMO. I am constantly inspired by the bad ass babes around me in class, and love the insight and assistance from the instructors who are always working with me with any modifiers my injuries may need.
