I don't usually go to Makati for a food trip. But, if I am in Makati, I usually look for Japanese food. This is because most of the best Japanese restaurants are in Makati. On the day that I decided to try Koku, I was there to try one dish: Salmon Aburi Sushi! I mean, 4 pieces of torched Salmon Sushi for Php308? I needed to try it!
I arrived at around 4PM in the afternoon and I was basically the only customer there. I order the Aburi Sushi and the Mixed Sushi Special (includes Kani, Ebi, Unagi, Salmon and Tuna). The server jots down my order and, before he leaves, I see a promo board at the bar... "Sake All You Want! Unlimited Gekkeikan Sake! Php328 per person! Served daily 3-10PM." I didn't see this as a promo; this was a Challenge! Yes, I did order it! Yes, the staff looked at me funny... I didn't care! Hahaha!
Long story short, the sushi was delicious! The sake was overflowing! It was so good that, even though I left at 530PM, I was back at Koku for dinner at 8PM! Yes, I did order the Sake All You Want promo again! Woohoo~! For dinner, I tried the Oyster Papaya (sounds weird, but you MUST give it a try!), the Salmon Cream Cheese Pizza, and another order of the Aburi Sushi. The place is a bit tucked away but, if you have a hard time finding it, it is right beside Electric Studio. When I have time again, I will most definitely eat here again! :) read more
