I did a trial and Ngan worked with me to ensure I was comfortable with the final look, and it turned out exactly how I wanted--like my normal face, but prettier! My mom was originally planning on doing her own hair and makeup for the wedding, but after seeing how awesome my trial turned out, she decided she wanted to work with Ngan, too. And she's particular, so that says a lot! Ngan was so patient and caring with her, and very communicative and organized in the months leading up to the wedding. I think Ngan may have been a little flustered the morning of the wedding (there were 9 of us getting hair and makeup done and she had to manage 2 assistants and keep everything on track), but she hardly showed it and kept my nerves calm. She did forget one piece of my hairstyle that we'd discussed during my trial, and I didn't realize it until it was too late, but my hair still turned out beautiful and no one noticed any difference. Overall, I'm very happy with how all of our looks turned out for the wedding, and I wouldn't hesitate to work with Ngan again or recommend her to others.

She was a nightmare to work with during this process, resulting us firing her two weeks before the wedding. Every time we needed to change the date due to the pandemic, she would be rude in her emails and increase her pricing. I understand your pricing increases every year and that's fine, but there is no need to be rude. She is not very flexible in any means. We had to add two more services and I got push back for that too. I'm giving your more business and you're upset? My wedding planner said in her 15+years in her role she's one of the worse lady to work with. Originally, I thought maybe my requests was too much but I realized that my requests were reasonable and she was being unprofessional. It was unnecessary stress. Beware of pricing changes with her and also random fees that she makes up on the fly - that is not listed in the contract. I do not recommend working with her at all.

Linh took the time to understand my preferences and the look I wanted, while also making sure everyone in my wedding party felt comfortable and happy with their looks. The makeup felt natural, the products worked really well with my skin, and my lashes were comfortable throughout the entire day. Everything stayed in place beautifully, even through a long wedding day filled with photos, dancing, and plenty of moving around. I was especially happy with how well my curls held up. My hair is naturally very straight and tends to lose its curl quickly, so I was really happy to see that my curls stayed intact throughout the entire wedding day. Even after hours of photos, dancing, and being on the move, my hair still looked great! The touch-up kit was also extremely helpful. Right before the ceremony, I needed a quick touch-up around my eye area, and having everything I needed on hand made it so easy to freshen up before walking down the aisle. Communication and professionalism were also great from the planning process through the wedding day. Linh was responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with, which made the entire experience feel stress-free. The morning of the wedding was organized, and the team did a great job keeping everything on schedule while still making the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. I received so many compliments on my hair and makeup and felt confident and beautiful throughout the entire day. I'm so glad I chose Linh and her team to be part of such an important and special day!

I felt so beautiful and confident and it truly allowed me to enjoy my wedding day to the fullest. Most importantly, I still felt like "me" while I was all glammed up and that truly made all the difference. She also did my mom and my mother-in-law's makeup and they both looked beautiful! Before I found Michelle, I did one bridal makeup trial with someone else that went... horribly. It was my first time having my makeup professional done and I was shocked at how bad it was for the cost. After that experience I almost gave up hope and considered doing my own makeup on my wedding day. Several months later, I decided to look into makeup artists again and found Michelle on instagram (@michellevalentine_beauty) and I am so happy I did. Through my process of trialing two different makeup artists, I can fully recognize how talented Michelle is at what she does. Makeup, especially bridal makeup, is extremely difficult. Everyone has such unique facial features and different personal preferences on how they like different parts of their makeup done. You also want the makeup to be heavy enough to show up in photos and last the whole day, but not look crazy and cakey in person. Michelle was able to strike the perfect balance of all of these things, and was very receptive to all of my feedback on what I wanted, no matter how minor the detail was. Apart from the makeup, Michelle is a very kind and genuine person who is easy to talk to. The makeup takes ~2-3 hours so having a makeup artist you get along with is definitely a bonus. She also did a color analysis for me during my trial which was super thorough and insightful, and even covered what fabrics would look good on me. In terms of cost, Michelle's prices were comparable to the first MUA I trialed and based on my research, she is on the more affordable side for the Bay Area. In terms of scheduling, my wedding was on a Friday during busy season (May) and I booked her 5 months in advance (in December). For the trial, her weekends were booked solid so I had to do it on a weekday, so definitely try to book far in advance for a weekend spot. The trial is so important though so I would not recommend skipping it! Michelle also offers hair services but I had already booked my hairstylist a few months before I found her so I did not end up getting my hair done by her, however she has demonstrated ability in different hairstyles if you look at her instagram! In summary, Michelle is an extremely talented and kind makeup artist that will ensure you look and feel your best on your wedding day! Rest assured you'll be in good hands :)

I scheduled a hair and makeup trial with her a bit before my wedding, which took place in her lovely home studio. Michelle was patient and receptive to my vision, taking time to get my makeup exactly how I liked it and experimenting with different lash looks. When it came time for my wedding, I made a last minute change on how I wanted to do my hair. Michelle was flexible and had left buffer time in the schedule so that we didn't need to be rushed. She gave me advice on what hairstyle might suit my face better. I absolutely loved how my hair and makeup turned out - it photographed beautifully and stayed put the whole night. Michelle has a talent for creating natural looks that complement your natural tones. Her assistants, Ti and Dan Tam, were also amazing and helped my bridesmaids, mom, and husband's mother get their hair and makeup done. It was many of their first time getting makeup/hair done professionally, and Michelle and her team helped make everyone feel comfortable. Thank you so much Michelle!

Shadow helped me and my mom with our makeup and hair on my wedding day. About 9 months before the big day, I met up with Shadow once and knew right away she's the one I want to hire. She's not only accommodating and super nice, for an indecisive bride like me, her consultation really helped me tackle down what style I want to go for on my big day. Not to mention her price is super reasonable. I listened to Shadow's suggestion, grew out my hair (I had shorter hair when I met up with Shadow) and dyed my hair to a lighter color just before the wedding day (she said it'll make the braiding of hair much more lively and natural looking). The end result, man, I cannot say more, it's just exactly what I pictured myself to look like on the most important day of my life! Shadow changed my hairstyle three times throughout the day and helped me changed into two different outfits. The hair/makeup matched my outfits perfectly. She is so efficient, professional, and calm, which is extremely helpful since I was so nervous on the day. I even forgot my bouquet in the dressing room right before I needed to walk down the aisle, it was Shadow, who is a tiny little girl wearing booties with heels, ran across the hotel hallway in lightning speed, all the way to the dressing room, grabbed my bouquet, and ran all the way back to me, made it just on time before I stepped out on the aisle! From this, I know she's not just a makeup and hair artist, she genuinely cares about each and every single one of her customer, and does whatever it takes to make their big day the most perfect day of their life! Luckily, I booked a trial with Jessica, the team lead at THE PURE make up, and loved how she did my hair based on the reference photos I brought. Unfortunately, Jessica was already booked for my wedding day, but she assigned two of her best stylists to handle my hair as well as my mom's and four bridesmaids. The stylists were both professional and friendly, and made everyone look beautiful. That said, some of the bridesmaids' hairstyles started falling out when we arrived at the venue, and I wish the stylists had taken extra care to secure their styles better. THE PURE make up came highly recommended through friends and their networks who had also finished wedding planning, so I had high hopes. Overall, a positive experience given the circumstances. I would recommend more for their makeup services (i.e., natural, Korean style) over their hair services.

I've been following IG: thepuremakeup_official for awhile ever since i saw my friend's hair and makeup at her wedding which was done by Jessica at THE PURE makeup. What I learned about her via IG is how she's always on top of the beauty trend, and she's always willing to learn by even flying to Korea to get lessons. I knew i had to get my hair and makeup done by her as I was looking into more natural style than having my face look cakey with bunch of contouring style. As soon as my wedding date was decided I reached out to Jessica to secure the date. I signed up for the luxury wedding package which included bridesmaids makeup on top of my makeup and 2hrs (?) of stay & retouch since i knew i was going to cry a lot lol Jessica was so easy to work with, and most importantly she did a phenomenal job. Everyone was complimenting on my makeup for looking so natural but also how my skin was glowing and overall makeup was not too overbearing. I'm really surprised to see some negative reviews here, and I'm wondering if they were looking for more intense makeup such as face contouring makeup. You just need to look for a new person if that's you. You can't complain about her work when you have a completely different style. It's like you shopping at Nike to look for heels, and complaining why they only have sneakers.
