We ordered sashimi and nigiri, not any rolls. Their rolls look great as they were being delivered to other tables but we prefer to taste the fish. Overall the fish was fresh. Our assortment of sashimi included tuna, yellow tail, and grilled octopus. We also got the pan fried fish. Don't recommend. It was overcooked and bland. Not sure if I'd come back but if you like sushi rolls, I think this would be the place for you. read more

OK people, I promise, promise, promise that just because this restaurant is in the Walmart shopping center in the food court alongside the strip mall, no less, you are about to experience nothing short of the most incredibly fresh fish and sushi your mouth will ever be privileged to enjoy. We have been coming here For nearly 15 years back when they only had two tables and hardly even a restaurant to the point they are now where it is a reservation packed house every time we go day or night. We started with the Special Fried Rice. Chicken, shrimp, mixed veggies, cream cheese (yea I said it!!! You'll love it), spicy crab and avocado. My wife and I CAN NOT share this and must order our own each time. We also got the spicy tuna sashimi with Serano peppers. It was next level. Incredible. For the rolls we got an Alexia and a Smurf roll and both were awesome. After going to Cabo for almost 40 years and going to all the sushi places, I just found out about this place (from the owner of Alexander's Restaurant). The place is small, the sushi bar is very limited but the food and the ambiance is second to none. The prices are great and the quality & taste is unbelievable. I met the owners 2 brothers Jose & Israel they are the sushi chefs (very nice down to earth people) they will do whatever it takes to make you feel good. At one point I just said, surprise me with something that's not on the menu and let me tell you they really impressed me. Don't knock me for going to a sushi place right next to Walmart. :-) We were a bit hungry and Yelp showed this place with the highest reviews in the area. Upstairs and downstairs were both packed with tourists which sometimes is a good sign, while other times not so much. We came in with low expectations anyway and were impressed on some of the items mostly the Ramen which didn't come in a bowl it came in a plate with a thick sauce on it. It was quite delicious but shouldn't be called Ramen. The miso soup was also pretty decent. THe Koi special roll was pretty good and had a kick to it. The roll which I can't remember the name of it was just average. The yellowtail sashimi was decent. Okay I have to admit I thought for sure I'd look at the place and say NOPE, the place looked good, we went in the hostess was friendly and had us seated right away. I'm very picky when it comes to sushi or and raw food for that matter, the menu had many choices but we went with 5 items all specials recommended by the waiters. Serving was outstanding, very kind and friendly. This is now our go to restaurant here in Cabo!! Make this a stop for you, you won't regret it!!! Koi Sushi was recommended to us by a local and being in Cabo we had said we wanted to try some of the best fish and seafood Cabo has to offer. I can say, being a San Diegan born and raised I've had my fair share of sushi, and I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity and the uniqueness of the combinations of flavors in their rolls. The tempura was lightly fried and perfectly crispy, the salads were crisp and flavorful, and the fish was fresh and delicious. We had an off menu specialty roll that I couldn't get enough of! Definitely a must try place if you are looking for delicious sushi, and the best part it is budget friendly! The location had no reflection on the food or service, It's in the food court by the Walmart which had us hesitant at first but so glad we gave it a try. What a surprise this place was! I would never expect great sushi near a food court in a shopping center with Walmart as the anchor store. But as usual, I looked at Yelp for good Sushi while in Cabo and found this place. The restaurant is at the end of the food court and is not a "food court" type place, it has glass doors that lead into a dining room that has a couple of dozen tables. The place is clean and elegant. We were immediately met by our server who spoke very good English, given menus, and drink orders were taken. They have a full bar, and several very good beers by the bottle. I opted for an IPA to take a break from all the Pacifico and Dox X's that I had this week. The prices were super reasonable, with prices listed in Peso and Dollar. I have to admit that I really would rather pay for everything in Mexico with Pesos and save my dollars for tips. The sushi plates came out and I was really impressed. This place was as good if not better than several places I have eaten in California. I liked the fresh tuna rolls, and I bet it was really fresh. The Tempura Rolls and Shrimp rolls were all excellent. We ordered a variety of rolls and different fish to try out this place. I will for sure eat there again when I visit Cabo. The service was impeccable, the food was great, the ambiance was very nice. Next time I am in Los Cabos I will visit Koi Sushi. read more

I hate being a spoiler, but this it not a Japanese food there. We used to like this place 4-5years ago. But not any more. Maybe we got spoiled living around Japanese people making real sushi. The Diego roll was fantastic! Limited fish choices..most of their rolls which I didnt try were isolated to smoked salmon, yellowtail and tuna. I only ordered their sashimi platter and although the fish were masked in sauces, the few unadulterated raw pieces were fresh. This is a hidden gem that most people will overlook. Great sushi fresh and very helpful waiters. They gave us special roles that were not on the menu that were extremely delicious. We ordered 40 various rolls($120-$180 pesos for 8pcs) , 4 pieces of sushi($45 ea) , steamed rice($30), miso soup(45), 2 desserts($95), a beer and a soda or $78 Canadian. DEFINITELY let the waiter choose special dishes for you, they are really cool and unique and way better than the stuff off the menu. They are 10 pesos more than the menu ones but also have way more stuff on them. It's located in the mall with Walmart in behind the food court. I wish I could give this place a review for their sushi. That's what I went there for. But I got there a few minutes before they opened and waited for them to open at noon. I could see a few people inside prepping. I then waited till 12:15 and peered through the window. Some of the staff clearly saw me but gave no acknowledgement. At this point a small line was beginning to form and everyone behind me was getting agitated because they were not yet open. We waited until past 12:30 and had to leave to make sure we could get a quick lunch and make to to an appointment we had. So Koi was not open 30 minutes later than posted. There were employees inside and customers waiting outside. But at no point did they engage the customer or communicated with us. Any establishment that valued it's customers would have at least went outside to let people know what they were late and when they expected to open instead of just ignoring the dozen people anxiously waiting outside. I would t be returning and will be trying one of their competitors instead. read more
