Katsu Curry
Josh M.

Had a great first experience here at Kohnami Sushi. I would definitely recommend reservations since it is a very tiny restaurant with limited seating (4-5 tables). The sushi was great for the price and the katsu curry was not bad. Wish the chicken katsu was a little crispier. Service was great given the fact that there was limited seating. I would definitely recommend the nigiri combo as well as trying a few of their rolls!

Kwang V.

Food: Fresh, artistic presentation on the nigiri combo. Great portions & value. Miso soup tastes great, but doesn't have any tofu, seaweed or green onion in it. It is very simple & plain soup. Saw many Soju(Korean vodka) & Asians beer in the fridge! Service: On a slow side as I shown up at 7 pm on Thursday night & my waiter told me it will be about 30-40 mins wait for food to be ready due to their limited staffs. Otherwise, the only waiter works very hard to give his best services. Ambiance: Modern, simple & relaxing music with mountain view. Small & comforting spaces. Sum up: If you looking for a hidden gems sushi/Korean foods in Briargate area, Kohnami sushi will deliver your crave, but might be on the slower pace. Don't show up starving!

Left to right; California roll, Cheyenne mt roll, red rock roll. And wasabi.

Very well done. We ordered a California roll (for my 11 year old), Cheyenne mountain, and red rock. All were incredibly delicious even after sitting for roughly an hour after picking them up (carry out). I especially appreciate the fresh, raw wasabi. We walked in at 8:23 because online it said they were open till 9 but signs said 8:30. They were very accommodating, we opted to do carry out to not hold them over. The service was top notch. Would absolutely return on future trips to the springs.

Shrimp Tempura Roll Salmon Avocado Roll

Simply, the best Japanese food I have had in Colorado Springs. The prices are fair, the portions are large, the sushi is excellent and the service is attentive and kind. The staff here has always accommodated my 18-month-old son with grace and attention, offering smaller portions of food to help keep meals affordable, fun and most importantly, delicious. Highlights are all the sushi, beef bulgogi and the chicken fried rice. All the food is excellent, whether eaten in the clean, cozy restaurant, or taken to-go.

Cute tiny space, amazing customer service, and affordable good food. Filled up two people for less than $40 and it was so good, and came with free small soup. Very cozy and cute

Great local spot for Northern Colorado Springs! We will definitely be coming back. The sushi and bulgolgi were fantastic.

What happened to the owner, as I see it is under new management. Was, to me, my favorite sushi place. Had wonderful food experience there!

IMO, best sushi in town. be warned, it is a small intimate venue so reservations are recommended for the dinner rush time period.

Do they have all you can eat?

Unfortunately they do not.

Is this the same Kohnami business that used to be located off of South Academy a decade ago? My friend and I were fans of it, but then they left.

I heard so many good things about this place that a friend and I decided to dine there. Now mind…read moreyou, neither of us drink alcohol so we can't rate what I've come find out is a bar, not really a restaurant. What I can say is that our lovely waitress, Lindsey, had to run all over the hotel up and down elevators to find a couple of bottles of sparkling water. A bar, that doesn't have sparkling water? The menu is pretty extensive for a bar so we ordered several things. I knew we shouldn't expect 4 star dining when I first ordered the mochi's to start, because my world traveled friend had never had one. It was a chemical confection of freezer burn and rubber and sadly would never win any awards. Meanwhile, Lindsey announced that she was still on the hunt for sparkling water! Next our food came out in strange order. My friend had the rubbery chicken wings and I had the Burrata cheese and sourdough having also ordered a crab salad. Meanwhile Lindsey had returned to the table to announce "they" were all still looking throughout the Hotel Polaris for Perrier, San Pellegrino or any kind of sparkling water. The salad came out as pig slop in a cup. Hosed down crab with so much mayo that it could honestly have easily been misidentified as a colon mass. It went back to die in a kitchen that I suspect is stocked with nothing more than frozen food from Kroger. Instead Lindsey offered just crabmeat in a cup. Wanting to just eat I eagerly agreed, after all she was so lovely and was trying so hard to find that damn water. lol When the bowl was returned to my table it was frozen fake crab, no labeling on the menu that it would be fake crabmeat. Once again the search began for anything healthy to eat. Then the lobster meat came out in the same size small queso like cup with a side of cold drawn butter congealing. By now I was done, BUT THE WATER WAS FOUND !!! TWO SMALL BOTTLES OF PERRIER SAVED THE NIGHT. A liquid diet it would be for me and all for the price of a small dog. :) I'd like to thank God for giving me such a humorous, patient spirit,l I'd like to thank my date for his eye rolls with smiles as they fumbled through our meal, I'd like to thank Lindsey for her tenacity, determination and devotion to her customers and I'd appreciate a thank you from Lindsey for my helping her to reach 10,000 steps in just under 2 hours. :) Bypass this place unless you're desperate for a view of the mountains and alcohol.

One of the few places you can get great food and great drinks…read more The cup of bacon and the fried cheese were both great starters. The fried cheese is very different from your other standard cheeses or mozzarella sticks. The cheese is much more firm with a light fry. The cup of bacon is fatty, salty, with a tiny bit of sweetness. The ricotta gnocchi bolognese has some amazing fresh gnocchi. The bolognese sauce was okay so it's a fine dish but I probably wouldn't get it again. The duck poutine has delicious fresh fries that end up crisp topped with tons of cheese and gravy. Not a lot of duck, but a great poutine overall. Every item is always a treat and unique and makes me want to try the whole menu.

My friend also had the gnocchi, which was so salty! We passed it around and nobody could finish it because of how salty it was! It also was very loud there to where we couldn't hold a conversation easily. We've been there many times in the past, we've never had this kind of problem with the noise or the food. The food has always been outstanding. Our waitress was good, but she was very short at times. Maybe she had too many tables that she was waiting on, but I don't know. There were other people at my table that didn't finish their food as well because it was not edible. Some people even said their food was just "okay". Definitely not what we've experienced here in the past.

Steak bites, truffle fries, brownie skillet... I want to come back just to try more food alone. This was insane and the pricing was good, the value was good, and I even ordered truffle fries to go because I loved it so much! What is super fun is that they now have wine tastings on Tuesdays and it is a great deal. $12 for four wines. Someone tells you about each wine and it's a great way to sample a bunch of wines, both local and not. I was super excited about that! I will again, come back to do that! Lots of positives there. And our server was very sweet. She was checking in and making sure we were doing well. I wish I knew her name but sadly I don't. But she was so kind and had a great personality. And everything came out fast! The vibes are also good. I love the outdoor seating/patio options for a hot summer night. And it was very lush. It's funny because I had never heard of this place before but it is in a fantastic area near Night Ramen and Provision Bakery (two amazing spots). Breakfast at Provision, apps and drinks at My Cellar Wine Bar, and maybe a dinner at Night Ramen. Haha! Just kidding, but again, great spot. Here's where I have issues. I worked in the restaurant industry for six years. I understand staying over close and even coming in close to close is a no no (at least for me). But we arrived at 7:30 pm and stayed until 9:45 pm. One of my best friends is getting married so she wanted to show us her dress and share her excitement. At 9 pm (note they close at 10 pm), they turned on the lights, began sweeping, closed the kitchen, and even at one point blasted music. We asked the waitress when they closed the wine bar. 10 pm. But what frustrated me the most is that the manager (I assume) came over and was acting extremely condescending. "I know you girls are having such a good time!!" And was trying to usher us out. Girl. You don't close until 10 pm. It's 9:45. If you didn't want us to stay, then maybe change the hours. I don't care if we are the only ones there. It was extremely rude and the way she said it felt, as I said, condescending. Like we were young and dumb or something. As a diner, I expect great service. Which we got for the most part. But to kick us out before it closes is unprofessional and frustrating. Of course we left, but god forbid a girl get excited about her wedding and wants to share all about it. This left a sour taste in my mouth and again, if you wanted to close early, maybe don't tell patrons the actual time you close: 10 pm. We bought a lot and a bottle of wine. Let us finish our glasses and I promise we will leave before close. I would still come back, but maybe I'll go to Vine and Wheel or another wine bar first.

After telling the waitress I had allergies, she did not mention they had a gluten free menu. I found a picture of that menu online. It tells you what is gluten free but it does not give you other allergen information. Due to this, I took a star away because even on their website they did not offer allergy or nutrition information. For example, their grilled chicken is marinated in buttermilk which is not dairy or gluten free. I found that out when asking if they grilled their meats in butter. In the end, I got gluten free chicken and it was very tough and chewy. I was not impressed. But my create your own salad was fresh and had wonderful toppings to choose from. I wouldn't mind coming here again but I would be afraid to try anything else due to the lack of allergy information. Our food came quickly and for those without allergies, like my husband, his bacon cheeseburger on steroids looked amazing. He also said it tasted amazing. I would implore this business to be more transparent with allergies so that someone like myself can go to a place like this and still find something to eat.
