After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. A few months ago, the third generation owner of Davidsons announced that Davidsons Men's Clothing, a long-standing family-owned menswear retailer established in Roanoke in 1910 will be sold to R. Coffee Ltd., a menswear store based in Lynchburg, Virginia. The new owner has expressed his commitment to preserving the legacy and traditions of Davidsons, ensuring a seamless transition for its customers. The Roanoke store will continue to operate under the Davidsons name and will retain its current staff, brands, and personalized services. The new owner plans to introduce new opportunities for growth, such as bringing in some new brands while keeping Davidsons' established lines, and merging the websites of both stores to allow for online shopping. Currently the Men's Clothing store is having a 30% Off Sale on everything in the store, including Suites, Sport Coats, Dress and Casual Pants, Shoes, Accessories, and Sportswear. After hearing about the sale I decided to go check it out, especially to check on some Magnanni fine leather shoes that were hardly never on sale that I loved and was looking forward to purchasing. Once there, Sales Associate Lydia took good care of me, finding my size of the Magnanni model shoe I liked and helping me try them on. Since they tend to run big. Size eight and a half was the perfect size for me. I took advantage of the sale which made the shoes more affordable to purchase. Lydia even gave me a Davidsons complimentary shoe horn with the shoes I ended up buying. If you're like me who like the very best in men's clothing and accessories, as well as exceptional customer service, I highly recommend this store to you.

My husband and I popped in because we saw a shirt we liked in the window and we had a wonderful experience with the owner who provided excellent recommendations and perfect customer service. If the items in the display window looked nice, when I walked inside the store I was amazed at all of the beautiful quality items that I saw there. A friendly and very knowledgeable lady in charge of the store was having a young man employee move some of the Boots to the back of the store where all the discounted items are displayed. She talked to me about the company and brought me to the area where the exotic Western Boots were kept so that I could admire all the different boot skins from ostrich to snake and beyond. Everything in the store were quality items, from hats, belts, belt buckles, jewelry, knives, colone, leather wallets, leather purses, apparel, sunglasses, greeting cards, home decorations, toys, stuff animals, and even pet items. On the back wall of the store, high above, there is a mural painted representing the Blue Hill Mountains and the Star of Roanoke, which gives the store a local flavor. Among my favorite items in the store is an artwork of a white barn with the saying: "The simple things MAKE LIFE WORTH LIVING." I highly recommend everyone reading my review to visit this store. I'm sure it will be an amazing experience in and of itself, and who knows, you might come out with one of your favorites items to take home. .

The shop embodies the free-spirited hippie culture of those who embrace the hippie values of peace, love, and community. When one arrives at the Boutique, the entire storefront is large glass windows, with two glass doors that are all the way opened, welcoming and inviting you to walk in. As you walk in you pass by a rack with wheels of clothes on sale. Inside, an orange Volkswagen Beetle full of stickers, one of the icons of the Hippy era, has been raised and standing up decorates the store in a very unique way. The floor of the place is part hardwood floor and another part is covered with pennies with heads facing up and held there with some type of acrylic. The front of the cashier counter is also pieces of broken mirrors stuck together. Over part of the pieces of mirrors there is a colorful cloth with flowers all over it and the saying: "You make the world a better place just by being in it." The store is full of the items already mentioned above. A little bit of it all. Some of them make great gifts for people of all ages, especially the colorful clothing, hats, and jewelry. They now have a Hippy Salon that offers product-free dreadlock creation and maintenance, feathers, woolies, glass beads etc. Appointments are being required for this service. I highly recommend this Boutique to everyone. It is the oldest mail-order retailer in the United States and a leader in fly fishing, hunting, and sporting goods. In the beginning Charles Orvis opened his shop to cater to wealthy tourists, quickly establishing a reputation for quality fly-fishing tackle, pioneering mail-order catalog sales. The company struggled and financially collapsed during the Great Depression. In 1939 businessman Dudley "Duckie" Corkran purchased the failing company for $4,500 and revitalized it. Under Corkran, Orvis expanded its product line to include clothing and opened its first retail store in 1941. In 1965, Leigh Perkins purchased Orvis and transformed it into a lifestyle brand. He diversified the product range to include hunting gear, apparel, and dog accessories, and pioneered customer acquisition techniques by exchanging mailing lists with other retailers. He also established the first U.S. fly-fishing school in 1966 and introduced sporting clays to America. Leigh Perkins passed leadership to his sons, Perk and Dave Perkins, and later to his grandson, Simon Perkins, in 2020, ensuring the company remained family-owned. The company has expanded into e-commerce and has launched innovative Rodeo technologies like the Helios, and continues its commitment to environmental stewardship through the Orvis-Endorsed programs and conservation initiatives. Today, Orvis is an international, multi-channel retailer with its corporate headquarters in Manchester, Vermont, and major operations in Roanoke, Virginia, and the United Kingdom. When I moved to Roanoke, the first gift that I received from a friend was an Orvis Weather Breaker Jacket. And though I still have it today, it is worn down and I thought it was about time I got a new one, because its one of my favorites and practical things to wear. So I headed to the Orvis store located in the heart of Downtown Roanoke, on Campbell Ave. Once there, a young gentleman greeted me and listened to what I was looking for. Then he showed me around and pointed out the jacket I was looking for, as well as several new items that would serve my need as well. He did a great job in following one of the company's core values that states: "Surprise & Delight Your Customer." He listened and built a relationship by being curious, personal, friendly & fun. He also earned credibility and trust by being open, honest & down to earth. And you could tell, he took pride in their products. When I asked him if they were having any Black Friday Sales this year, he told me he didn't know yet but that I could find some sales going on now in the company's website. When I asked him about a Bison Wallet they used to have, he showed what they had and was surprised they didn't have it on display but thought it might be coming in shortly and also suggested I look for it on their website. As we walked around the store, I was very impressed by its cleanliness, interior design, product display, and nice lighting treatment. All items were display to show their best. I also enjoyed viewing their fly-fishing equipment. After all, I have enjoyed fishing all my life and Saltwater Sport Fishing was my one of my favorite hobbies as I was growing up and being the youngest person to win the prestigious Yearly Cangrejos Yacht Club Fishing Tournament in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico by catching and landing a 403 lb Blue Martin after three and a half hours of struggling with him. In another occasion I also caught a 97 lb Bull Dolphin or Mahi-Mahi, also called Dorado, when I was even younger. I thanked the Orvis associate for his assistance and help, and promised to return on Black Friday to see what's going on there. I remember one year they had a roulette or something similar that gave you a discount of different amounts, depending what you picked. One at home I went to their website, found the sale the sales-associate was referring to and purchased the jacket I wanted to replace my worn down one. I highly recommend you visit this store if you're a local or a tourist. In it you will find nice, quality merchandise, and exceptional customer service, creating moments that exceed our expectations.
