This is SO much better than all of the craptastic ones that my parents took me to when I was a kid…read more Most dojos/academies have one of two basic problems: they're either so strict that very few young kids will stay motivated and interested with their "boot camp" style, or they are so lax and unprepared that they can't even break basic moves down into their composite movements and posture. Inspiration not only keeps it fun and exciting for kids, but also provides extensive instruction on how to execute every segment of every maneuver. They also teach everything from social and life skills to personal safety in non-violent situations as well as the physical ones. Kids and adults learn and advance at their own pace, and they have a variety of packages from basic TKD to sparring, weapons, hyper (trick/stunt styles) and kickboxing and Krav Maga for older kids and adults. You can also choose from a basic 2 classes per week or a more intensive schedule. Please remember that you get what you pay for. The tuition is about 2-3 times what I had initially intended to pay, but the results as well as support system are well worth it, and they do have payment plans with multiple options to help you to afford their fees. They also have great family rates so that your while family can train for around the same price as 2 or 3 people, depending upon which package you choose. For the first time since I became a parent, I finally have a team that is able to reinforce the lessons I teach my sons, both positive and disciplinary. You can also see the results by the number of district/state/world champions who have trained here, as well as by the roles their students take on in the community. My youngest son used to be very wild and disobedient in comparison to his brothers. My middle son was beaten up about twice a week in his old school, and the administration did nothing to correct the problem. My oldest son wanted an outlet to grow his athletic and leadership skills. Inspiration ATA has helped us to take care of all of that and more. This is probably the best investment I've ever made...and I hold multiple college degrees including an M.A. If you are willing and able to make the investment in their programs, the dividends reaped will far outweigh the costs. In addition to fitness and self defense, your child will develop self-confidence/self-esteem, respect, discipline, vision, teamwork, leadership, community responsibility, academic focus, and so much more. They do especially well with new kids and usually assign one teacher to a new kid -- there can be a lot of tears as for some little guys, this is their first activity out of the safety of their home. It does seem pricey to me at $130/month (the pricing can be lower if you lock into a time commitment -- we go month to month) but you can attend as many classes as you would like at this price. So you can really make it worth your money. And if karate is something your child wants to commit to, it's a total bargain.

I have a membership at a corporate gym in the Phoenix area, which I do love. However, it lacks some…read moreequipment I prefer and gets too busy. I was recommended by a friend to try Fitness 1 due to the quality of equipment as well as the old school atmosphere. The communication with Chad prior to visiting was great. He welcomed me when I came in and showed me around the gym, explaining how it was laid out and where I can find certain pieces of equipment. This included equipment like the pendulum squat, which can't be found in most commercial gyms. He also showed me where much of the power lifting equipment was and even discussed the childcare. I spent the next 90 minutes using amazing equipment such as Rogue, Precor, and my personal favorite, Arsenal. The culture in the gym was great. Everyone was working towards their own personal goals, all while supporting and assisting each other. They were even being spotters for others in the gym who they did not know, but supported nevertheless. Other gymgoers were not playing on their phones or hanging out in the gym, showing they were all there for a reason. After a good 90 minute workout, I went back and spoke to Chad. I told him I wanted to get a membership, paying for an entire year up front. Chad was able to do all this without pressuring me at all, which seems to be uncommon in the gym world. He lets the gym and the culture the staff at Fitness 1 has created, along with others in the gym, sell the product. All of this came with no hidden fees, which is just icing on the cake. Fitness 1 is a hidden "gym" in the fitness industry. It is an example of what all gyms should be and should be mirrored.
