Monday March 3rd. l spent seven hours at Kocourek Subaru in Wausau. They diagnosed a problem with the TPMS system, and after seven hours didn't fix it. The service writer Lizz completely dropped the ball after I told her twice I want it fixed. I'm a Subaru owner and have been religious about following the Subaru recommended maintenance schedule to get as much life out of my car as possible. Until recently, I was doing my maintenance at the dealer. During my 90,000-mile service, Kocourek told me I needed to re-seal my oil pan because it was leaking...and they wanted to charge almost $3,000 for it because it would require removing the engine to get at the oil pan. I didn't have a spare $3K laying around (especially during the holidays!) so I called Schierl Tire to see how much they'd charge. They took the dealer's diagnosis at face value and estimated $1800 sight unseen (with a warning that it could potentially cost more if they opened it up and the problem was different or more severe). Given the significantly lower price for the exact same service, I booked the service on the spot. When I took my car in a week later, they weren't confident in the dealer's diagnosis. They put dye into my system, had me drive for 200 miles, and then had me come back to reassess and figure out what was going on. I was *shocked* when the technican called me back to take a look. There wasn't a drop of oil in sight. No leaky seal, nothing. They didn't charge a penny for this--not even a diagnostic fee, even though they'd looked at my car twice and done the dye service. I'm never going back to Kocurek again. From here on, I'll be heading to Schierel to have them do the recommended maintenance--and probably at a fraction of the price. read more

Went there for a repair on my outback(usually never go to the dealer because of the high prices and the up sales), had a transmission code that looked as simply be a little low on fluid and they noticed I had a small engine leak. so when I inquired about it, they said they can't even use the words that the mechanic said about the car, rebuild the motor is the only option!! this is what they told me. so I went to a few small mechanic shops and three out of four so the exact same thing well the car has 150,000 miles on it. Throw some Lucas in there and see if that slows down the leak. it did pretty much stop the leak. imagine that 10 extra dollars every other oil change instead of a new motor thanks Subaru for not even offering that option!! and I would've completely let it go, but since I've been there, I've been getting constant emails about trading in my vehicle for a lease!!! I really don't like their pushy sales tactics! what their sales guys get bored so they go online and look at the recent repairs and light up those peoples emails with possibilities of being more in debt on a lease!!! I feel you guys probably get paid by the work you bring in which is the wrong way to do business at a car dealership!! so please don't let them throw you into a panic. Look at other options. This dealer sucks. We found a Mitsubishi Lancer online and went to this dealership to view the car. We drive over 3 1/2 Hours to get to the dealership and did not know what we would find when we got there. Everyone knows what it's like to deal with the wrong kind of dealership. We were so pleasantly surprised that this was not the "wrong" kind of place. They honored the price we found online without any bickering. They had a full inspection on the car and showed us full disclosure of exactly what that included. From the beginning of our interactions with Austin in the sales department to Rick in the financing department, we had an excellent experience. An absolutely unethical service department, and it has gone on for a while. I am a Subaru guy for life. I love the cars. I have a Forrester now, and before that I had a Outback that I drove to 210 thousand miles. It was old and rough, and I always thought that taking it to the dealer was the safest bet, them being the trained experts. The problem is NOT their skill with cars. The problem is their ethics and dishonesty. The last 14 visits with the Outback, the estimate was always lower than the actual cost of the repair. Christine the service manager even told me that they often times lower the estimate to keep our business. This is completely dishonest and unethical. This last visit took the cake for me though. I was bringing the 2011 Forrester in for some recall work. I have since found a garage I trust, with people I believe to be ethical and honest (within the confines of auto mechanics). I had an oil change at my auto mechanic 7 days before I brought it in for the recall. During the recall they managed to find 3000 dollars in repair that were not part of the recall. This seemed strange, since I assume my mechanic would have caught something as significant as a leaking headgasket, or or failed bushings. So, someone was lying. The icing on the cake was they broke the windshield on my car, and tried to blame me for it. When confronted with it, they offered no check in verification that it was broken. When they called me to tell me the other issues with my car, Ryan, never mentioned the broken windshield. I assume that would be on the list of repairs. The general manager did the right thing, and replaced my windshield. I took my car to my mechanic immediately following leaving Subaru, with the paper work outlining the issues they said needed addressing. My mechanic put my car up on the lift and walked me through how the dealership was either simply wrong, misleading, or trying to make a quick 3000 bucks. The culture of this, and all the other family of Kocurek dealerships is predatory. In my experience they are dishonest, and unethical and cannot be trusted. I will be driving my car from Wausau to Appleton to have all recall work done, that is how strongly I feel about the ethics or lack there of, of this dealership. read more

Please look at your financial paperwork very carefully at Wausau Kocourek Subaru or any Kocourek Dealership located in the Wausau area. My mother in law purchased a 2015 Legacy about 2 years ago. My husband and myself went with her and helped her pick out a beautiful blue Legacy that was down at a Madison dealership. They arranged for it to be delivered 2 days later. She picked it up by herself. Fast forward two years later and she decided to upgrade and get a 2018 Outback. She went by herself and picked it out. I was looking at her paperwork and noticed some add on's like an extended warranty, roadside assistance plan, and a rustproof plan. As I was looking closer at the roadside plan I quickly realized that this was basically a AAA type plan that would fix a flat tire, fix your windshield, tow, or jump your car. Most people have this type of coverage on their car insurance. This plan alone was $1000. She also signed up for the Starlink which is Subaru's version of ONStar. Starlink will do a lot of the same things and she the same coverage on her car insurance. There was no need for this coverage, so I personally drove to Kocourek and cancelled this with the finance person. I felt that they had taken advantage of a 80 year old women. The finance person tried to explain that all he did was put on what she had on her previous car the Legacy. I told him I know for a fact that she didn't have all this extra stuff because myself and her son (my husband) sat in the finance person's office and helped her sign the paperwork for the Legacy. He shows me some electronic paperwork on his computer supposedly from two years ago. I decided see for myself if he was telling the truth, and looked at her paperwork from 2 years ago. There was two sets of finance papers. One set was from when we all sat down with Brent the finance guy and proceed to fill out all the paperwork with her so she would be able come back and literally walk in and pick up her car. And one set was dated 2 days later. This set included a extended warranty and a roadside plan for an extra $4000 added to the price we had signed and agreed upon 2 days before. In addition they put the roadside plan $ in the cash price and didn't list it on the finance paperwork. She didn't even know she had roadside plan. I feel that they took advantage of a situation when her son was not there and tricked her into signing "new" paperwork. I confronted the finance person Brent and showed him the two sets of papers. He gave me some excuse that first set was just hold the vehicle that wasn't really wasn't the final paperwork...we don't do it that way anymore. I told him it was beyond sketchy and it looks really bad. To appease me they gave her two free oil changes. In my opinion a pittance of what they could of or should of done. I will never step foot in any Kocourek dealership as long as I live. They are crooks and I will happily drive to Milwaukee or another state not to give them any of my hard earned money. read more

We just bought a car there and it was a great experience. They bent over backwards to get the new car we wanted. The staff was more than accomodating. We had a lot of questions and they answered them well. Buying a car is stressful anywhere but everyone was light hearted about it. Very professional. Would recommend them to anybody. read more

We purchased a used Subaru Outback and did not immediately notice that the shoulder height adjuster of the passenger seat belt was stuck in place. This should have been caught and by the dealership before it was offered for sale. Seat belts are a safety issue covered by a lifetime warranty. We live over an hour and a half away and my concern was having to make two trips to get it fixed, one to see what parts they need and two to get it fixed. They refused to get the part ahead of time so that it could be fixed in one trip. I called a dealership in Eau Claire, WI and they gladly ordered the part in advance so that only one trip would fix the issue. We won't be buying any more vehicles from this family of dealerships and would not recommend to others. read more

SCAMERS!!! I purchased a used 2013 Subaru Impreza in 2015 and noticed a few things on the vehicle that indicated some sort of accident. I was assured by the sales staff that the "CarFax" was clean and no accidents were on the report. Recently I was selling my car to a private buyer, and he found, through his insurance agent that the vehicle had been in an accident with over $5000 in damage. I lost some negotiating power and felt totally scammed by Kocuorek. Even when previously taking my car for service to Kocourek, I felt something was not correct the computer had to be updated due to hard starting, odd. So two years later I find out the truth... They lied and sold me a vehicle that was over priced by manipulating CarFax reports to scam people into thinking there is no previous damage history. Who knows, they could have had the vehicle repaired at their own body shop and not reported it to carfax knowing they could scam people.. Not honest and truthful business!! read more

I had done my research on the car I wanted, I knew I wanted a Legacy. Kocourek did not have a used Legacy I wanted, but Brett went above and beyond to find a car I would like. He was knowledgeable in how the cars worked and pointed me in the right direction. He even showed me a few cars which were similar to the Subaru Legacy to help me compare brands. I ended up getting a new 2017 Limited 2.5i Legacy. Brent did a great job of going over all the paperwork with me and making sure I understood everything I was signing for the car. I also got a clear coat for my car, but when I went to pick up my car I found out there were some complications. Luke gave me a 2017 Outback as a loaner car and said he, or one of his staff, would drive the car to me as soon as it was finish. The team here really puts the customers first and wants to make sure you have the best experience possible. Side note, I have never owned a Subaru before, but I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a new car! read more

I recently purchased a 2017 Suburu Impreza from Mike Curtis at Kocourek Suburu. We originally weren't even planning to stop at Suburu, but then did on a last minute whim. Whereas some dealerships just handed us the keys, we very much appreciated that Mike took the time to walk us through all the amazing features offered in Suburu vehicles. Our choice to purchase was based on (1) the Impreza had so many safety features, (2) a spacious interior with soft leather, large windows throughout, and (3) was the best sedan in terms of balancing both the safety of all wheel drive with comparatively excellent gas mileage (28 city, 38 hwy). Overall the dealership exceeded our expectations in terms of their customer service, knowledge of the sales staff, products offered, and willingness to accommodate some special needs we had in the purchasing process. I would highly recommend stopping here first if you are looking for a new car (and ask for Mike)! read more
