AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! Trust me...Just do it yourself…read more I initially felt I got a decent deal as I was able to pay upfront for the full season last year at a discounted rate. I asked to be apprised of when visits would take place...that did not happen. When a visit did take place they didn't use a deflector shield on the spreader to prevent the treatments from covering my car and driveway. Results wise, I didn't see much of a difference between what they provided and a Scotts 4- Step plan (which is about a 1/4 of the cost). Now here's the kicker: Despite paying in advance and not signing a contract, the service continues from year-to-year unless they are notified. To my surprise service was provided when I was out of town. If I saw the Lawn Doctor guy pull up and I was home, I would have run out to stop him. Now, this was NEVER discussed at the time of the initial payment. This disclosure is at the bottom of their invoice that they either shove in the mailbox or under your doormat....a little underhanded if you ask me, especially because it was my assumption it was a one and done thing, last summer. Also, why am I paying attention to the invoice when the the dollar amount is crossed out because I already paid in advance!? Sketchy... This is one of the email responses from Lawn Doctor: "A simple disclosure on the bottom of our statement clearly explains that our service continues from year to year unless you cancel. It is not practical for our company to contact hundreds of customers just to ensure their service will continue. And this is why the disclosure appears on the bottom half of our invoice." Not practical huh? Well how practical is it to provide continued service, when it's not clear upfront?? Is it really soooooo time consuming to send out an email blast or postcard to current customers?? Give me a break.
