We used Bartlett Tree Experts shortly after moving into our house last summer at which point we realized we had 2 rotting trees (underground mushroom growth) that they easily removed. They charged significantly less than most companies and the entire crew was very easy to work with, cleaned everything up, and were in and out. In addition to the tree removal, they also are helping us save a tree that previously had been trimmed to excess to help bring undergrowth back into the picture. They also did regular seasonal maintenance trimming on a huge white oak. To have them cover so many needs for different varieties also proved they are excellent experts. Had Chris coming out today to take a look at our trees and give us his expert opinion regarding potential dangers and the overall health of our trees. He was very thorough and took time to look at everything, he explained to me everything and what might be a cause of concern. He ended up pointing out one tree that was decaying and would probably need to be removed, to avoid falling in the house. What is remarkable is that he was totally honest and said that Bartlett was most likely not going to be the most competitive company to do the work. But he gave me the name of two other companies in my area which he would entrust with this. It is so refreshing to have an expert come out to just give you his professional opinion and not trying to upsell you on anything. He didn't even want anything for the consultation! I paid $803.95 for the treatment of three ash trees. The Bartlett Tree technician treated only two of the three trees. All security cameras in our yard show the technician treating only the two trees in the side yard. The backyard tree was not treated. I have contacted the Bartlett Tree offices in Denville, NJ 4 times and the office in Stamford, Ct. 2 times. Mr. Kevin Rodriquez our client representative has returned only one call and stated he would "get back to me" after he investigated. This call was over two weeks ago. As you can see, I have called again and again and have left messages on the voicemail and with office personnel for a return call but have not been able to resolve this issue. I am truly trying to save 3 magnificent ash trees that are on my property. Unfortunately, Bartlett Tree Experts have no interest in saving them. They are only interested in money and company profits. If you do decide to use this company do NOT pay them in full until all work has been completed. I would strongly suggest that the initial payment should be only 20%. read more

I could write a book on this company's excellence!! To begin with, their prices blew our other estimates out of the water , and were kind enough to discount us because our neighbors were already using their larger equipment and trucks. They have a team including actual arborists! As a scientist myself I can't stress enough how important it is to know not only how to take a tree down, but how to help a tree thrive. Bartlett came to my home and assessed every tree on my property detailing what would and wouldn't happen to each over the years. It was like a free lifetime quote of tree maintenance that will save me a ton in the long run. Sounds expensive right? Wrong! There were trees I wanted to take down because they looked worrisome, but I was told we're not. What more can you ask for from a business than this kind of honesty? Other tree companies would have taken my money gladly to take down the trees Bartlett said weren't an issue. I'm thankful for their honesty and look forward to using them for years to come. Michael at Bartlett Tree Experts has been looking after the health of our large and small trees for years. He is knowledgeable, professional and kind. On Monday, a very old, beautiful 28" diameter tree came crashing down on our home. Two large limbs came through the roof into the kitchen where I was standing mere feet away. The rest of the tree was resting on the roof and surrounding the house. My first call was to my husband, the second was to Michael at Bartlett. Michael was at my house within 15 MINUTES! He assessed the situation, determined that it was not due to rot or pests, but roots had been damaged when we had done some construction and the town had required a trench some 15 years before. So the whole tree came out of the ground. Michael told me he would have a crane and a crew at my house by 2:00 (it was now 10:00). Well, everybody was here at least 2 hours earlier than he estimated! They went right to work, got the tree off the house, out of the kitchen without damaging anything else (which was a miracle), cleaned up all the debris outside so nary a stray stick was left on the lawn! DONE by or before 5:00. AND they tarped my roof! I was astounded how quickly they had this giant mess cleaned up. They trim trees, fertilize, diagnose, take down dead trees, every sort of care to trees. But! They also were at the ready when I needed them most. If I could post a picture, I would because that would say it all. But I don't think there is a way to do that here. BARTLETT IS NOTHING SHORT OF FABULOUS. read more

It took two weeks just to get someone to assess the work. This was understandable since recent storms took a toll on trees in the area. But when their rep Robert Lindsley did the assessment, I was told that the work could be done "in about two weeks, maybe sooner if something opens up." I signed the paperwork but three weeks passed without any word from the rep. I followed up with several voice messages and emails but still, no reply. Another week went by and he finally responded only to say that they did not have any availability to do the work on my property. A classic case of overpromising, underdelivering and very poor customer service. read more
