We stayed 7 nights. Our average nightly rate was $28.65. The park's weekly rate was better than using Good Sam or other discount. Michelle took our reservation and was very friendly and easy to work with. Check-in was simple and efficient. We met the gentleman owner of the park....can't remember his name. Very nice, easy to talk to, he has lots of ideas and big plans for the RV park. Sounds like they're constantly making upgrades to things. We stayed on a brand new concrete pad, number 54 - perfectly level. We had no issues with the water, sewer, or electricity. This RV park has at least 200 sites right now, and they will be growing in the future. There is some road noise, but it didn't bother us much at all. We can sleep through pretty much anything. If noise bothers you, perhaps think about asking for a site at the back of the property. There are some RVs here that are old and need to go. I get the feeling there are a lot of full-timers who live here year round. Some of them really do not take care of their areas..lots of junk scattered around. Also, the bath house doors could use a good scrub down. I never went inside though. The main sign needs to be repainted. However, these are all cosmetic things. I feel sure they'll get to it all eventually.

Just enjoying our first coffee of the day and the weather was gorgeous

I want start by saying this is a beautiful and well maintained State Park - "Louisiana's newest…read morestate park is very interactive with 6 cabins, 95 campsites, 4 picnic pavilion and numerous picnic sites, a visitor center, boat launch, splash park, nature trails, lakes, canoe area" and lot of wildlife roaming around. If you want to take pictures of them you'll need to be ready and alert because they are camera shy - as we crept along the improved roads in stealth mode (our Maverick is a hybrid and when driving slow it's very quiet in electric mode) we saw so much beautiful wildlife but was only able to snap a photo of one lone rabbit. We probably saw a dozen rabbits grazing the wet green grass, a few deer, lots of native birds and a 8 - 10 foot alligator that was crossing the road directly in front of us only to scurry into the swamp like he was being chased by a Cajun Chef looking to prepare a stew. We walked a few trails cautiously after seeing the gator, but the deer flies were active so we abandoned that idea pretty quickly, There is so much to do here and the State has done so many things for visitors to do no matter your age. Being avid RVers we also drove through the camp ground, the sites look level and are gorgeous, most if not have full hookups, it's appears most are gravel but there are a few concrete pads in the mix, of course lots of shade and most are very private. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent here, being this park is very very remote come with everything you need and take out everything you don't need and help keep this park pristine for the wildlife and others to enjoy...

That was a nice surprise. The site we were in, was level and had full 50 amp hookups as well as sewer dump. We had to do laundry and the machines, are the old heavy duty units, so you can put a few loads in each. The location, which looks like your miles from anywhere, is actually very close to town for shopping and dining. Jason recommend one place to us foe dinner, Fezzos, and we loved it. When you get there, It looks like a small park, but there are other sites in the back, away from the traffic, so ask the owner if you can use one of those. They are mostly for long term campers, but he may have some spots available. The last reviewer mention the road noise, but so far, every place we've stayed, either has traffic noise or trains blowing their horn at all hours. I've gotten use to it. I'm giving it 4 stars because the place is nothing fancy and the road through Lafayette is really bad, but once you get past there, it's good. Maxie's is an older campsite and still needs work, but Jason makes you feel welcome and we felt safe. It was a perfect stop over for us and worth trying.

We stayed here three nights and it could have easily turned into three weeks or even three months. The amenities here are enough, the site was level, the utilities all worked great and the people were amazing and Betty is a wonderful host that goes above and beyond that of any RV Park owner could. This park is in the heart of cajun country and there is so much to see and if you're staying here you couldn't ask for a better tour guide to point you in the right direction for anything the area has to offer. The 4:30 PM daily happy hour is a must do - it's a time to enjoy a cocktail with your RV neighbors that's hosted by Betty and filled with laughter and conversation of everyone's adventures with a little cajun music playing in the background I swear a cold beer never tasted so good. Located on the edge of Abbeville it's close to a lot of historic places and great local restaurants and they still do music on the downtown square on Thursday evenings. It's so refreshing to find that this culture still exist and you'll never meet more hospitable people anywhere. We hope to return again and again...
