Traveling from Florida to Louisiana I had no idea where I would end up stopping for the night, so after crossing the state line I decided it was probably time to start making a reservation. We called the KOA located in Scott, Louisiana, and after answering a few simple questions to ensure we would be matched up with the right site and issuing a credit card we were all set, and shortly afterwards received an email confirmation. We arrived late afternoon and after a short check in we were directed by a staff member in a golf cart to our campsite. He directed me into the pull-through space and checked the utilities before waving good-bye (you just can't be the southern hospitality). Being we were only staying the night I was only concerned about a 50 amp electrical service and fresh water and both were easily accessible, I did a quick check of the electrical service and found it clean and there was plenty of water pressure so we were set. This KOA was mostly filled even though it was the weekend before the Memorial Day weekend which somewhat surprised me, but after interacting with the friendly staff here and seeing all the amenities it should have been no surprise at all this place is really nice. This is a wonderful campground and I'd return here without hesitation - we also picked up the KOA value card and saved 10% on this stay. I did like that the sites aren't right on top of each other and that all the pads seem to be fairly level and the pull-through site allow me to leave the tow connected to make for a easy exit in the morning. I know there are lots of options but I doubt many in the area matches this level of service and accommodations...

We made the mistake of taking a site near the playground which is so close to the freeway you have to yell to speak to each other outside. The roads around the camp ground are narrow and tore up. At 8 am my children and I were accosted by a man who took to hiding behind trees and then hopped the wooden fence into the residential area when my husband went after him. Stay on the other side of the lake or don't stay here.

Our site with covered patio and lake .

Great KOA Rv park. Clean and sites are roomy. Easy to get to off I 10. We had a site facing lake with covered patio. Going to try to catch a few fish.

We absolutely love this place. The staff here are so awesome..so very friendly! Campground has lots of shady sites ....very well-kept. Lots of amenities. The new addition is simply amazing...beautiful rv sites right on the lake. Cottages on the lake features covered patio area with bbq pits , a porch swing and table n chairs. Loving Lafayette KOA!!

Although right off IH-10, this is a really nice spot. We had a site right on the little lake- great sunsets. But most importantly, the people here are the best! As helpful and friendly as it is possible to be. Smiles all around.

Fenced in kids playground plus kiddie pool in addition to the regular pool.

Ask the Community - Lafayette KOA

In the photos posted it looks as if there are cabins. Can we rent cabins or do we have to have a tent/rv?

They do have cabins and also have a tent area. They do not rent out rv's.

Lovely property! Gravel parking lot to park in, and Brenda will offer to help carry you/your stuff…read moredown to the campsites. There was also an unloading spot that you could drive your car down to and she also let us borrow a wagon to haul our stuff from the car for the campsite. The campsites are close by each other so it can get loud when it's really full, but I didn't mind that - I almost felt like we had neighbors lol but if you are wanting something more private, please keep that in mind. There was a flushable toilet with a running sink and a small mirror. There's also a pavilion with some picnic tables and lights at night if you wanna play cards there. There was a porter potty near the campsites so that was another option for the bathroom aside from the flushable toilet that was just a little bit of a walk closer to the parking lot. Multiple water/dishwashing stations with big sinks (huge plus!) Firewood was five dollars a bundle and we ran through four in one night! (Bundles are kinda small.) We did have an electric campsite, which was just one outlet (it did have an extension cord attached to it, so if I would've known this, I would've brought some lights to hang up.) The fire pit is pretty big and it comes with a cooking grate. There is also lots of trees to hang up hammocks on. The tent pad was pretty big but I did ask for a campsite that could fit 3 tents - I saw some that were a lot smaller so you will just have to let her know what you want. We had site #8 - I would stay there again. We paid $98 for an electrical campsite for two nights with four people and four bundles of firewood. Not too bad. We didn't have too much of a problem with bugs, but I would definitely bring some bug spray next time. We did have some fire ants next to the fire, but they didn't get in our food. We also saw a good bit of spiders but you're in the woods so what do you expect lol. You're also only 15-20 minutes away from some great hiking trails! We went to Clarke Creek in Mississippi. There's another closer to the campsite I believe. Anyways, i'd come back here!

I love this place. Always nice to take a long walk to clear your mind, be around nature, or…read moreexercise.

We jug fished for our breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were very successful. We caught 2 alligator gars (one being 6' long 100#s) 1 Needle gars, 12+ catfish, 24+ crabs. It was opening weekend of squirrel season, so our guide provided some for dinner. We frogged for hours and caught 20+ by hand. It was epic. As it turns out, we were in for a wonderful experience! Our hosts, Stafford and his wife Belinda, were excellent. We felt so welcome and had a great time experiencing the swamp. We stayed in one apartment-like houseboat, with two bedrooms with bunk beds (queen on bottom, full in the middle, twin on top), one bathroom, and a spacious combined living/dining area. Our hosts stayed in a separate "apartment." The two were connected by a screened in porch, where we spent most of our time when we weren't out on the swamp. I don't think I even sat down once on the couch in our apartment. We drank coffee outside in the morning, meals were cooked out there, and we all enjoyed drinks out there in the evening. The highlights of our stay were the times we spent out on the swamp. We went out looking for frogs, checking crawfish traps, and just cruising around. The water was high when we were there, so there was a lot to see! We saw many alligators, lots of frogs, bald eagles, nutria rats, and more. If you're into wildlife or birds, this is a great place to be. The swamp was a social place when we were there, so friends and family stopped by, and everyone we met was friendly and interesting. We had a lot of questions and everyone patiently answered them! It was fascinating to learn about how people live on and near the swamp. Our hosts had coffee ready every morning when we woke up, provided bottled water and ice, and cooked breakfast and dinner for us. We had eggs, bacon and beignets (donuts) for breakfast, catfish boil, wild boar and rice, fried crawfish, catfish, frog legs and gar balls, "pasta-laya" (aka jambalaya pasta), and cajun white beans. Everything was great and we ate way, way, too much, but had no regrets! As a bonus, they let us take the leftovers with us. :) I imagine if you're considering staying here, you're feeling adventurous, so I recommend taking advantage of all that's offered - see the swamp, enjoy the delicious cajun meals, and get to know the hosts. It's totally worth it! Our only regret is we didn't plan to spend more of our vacation with Cajun Experiences.
