If you want to take pictures of them you'll need to be ready and alert because they are camera shy - as we crept along the improved roads in stealth mode (our Maverick is a hybrid and when driving slow it's very quiet in electric mode) we saw so much beautiful wildlife but was only able to snap a photo of one lone rabbit. We probably saw a dozen rabbits grazing the wet green grass, a few deer, lots of native birds and a 8 - 10 foot alligator that was crossing the road directly in front of us only to scurry into the swamp like he was being chased by a Cajun Chef looking to prepare a stew. We walked a few trails cautiously after seeing the gator, but the deer flies were active so we abandoned that idea pretty quickly, There is so much to do here and the State has done so many things for visitors to do no matter your age. Being avid RVers we also drove through the camp ground, the sites look level and are gorgeous, most if not have full hookups, it's appears most are gravel but there are a few concrete pads in the mix, of course lots of shade and most are very private. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent here, being this park is very very remote come with everything you need and take out everything you don't need and help keep this park pristine for the wildlife and others to enjoy...

We stayed here three nights and it could have easily turned into three weeks or even three months. The amenities here are enough, the site was level, the utilities all worked great and the people were amazing and Betty is a wonderful host that goes above and beyond that of any RV Park owner could. This park is in the heart of cajun country and there is so much to see and if you're staying here you couldn't ask for a better tour guide to point you in the right direction for anything the area has to offer. The 4:30 PM daily happy hour is a must do - it's a time to enjoy a cocktail with your RV neighbors that's hosted by Betty and filled with laughter and conversation of everyone's adventures with a little cajun music playing in the background I swear a cold beer never tasted so good. Located on the edge of Abbeville it's close to a lot of historic places and great local restaurants and they still do music on the downtown square on Thursday evenings. It's so refreshing to find that this culture still exist and you'll never meet more hospitable people anywhere. We hope to return again and again...

There was also an unloading spot that you could drive your car down to and she also let us borrow a wagon to haul our stuff from the car for the campsite. The campsites are close by each other so it can get loud when it's really full, but I didn't mind that - I almost felt like we had neighbors lol but if you are wanting something more private, please keep that in mind. There was a flushable toilet with a running sink and a small mirror. There's also a pavilion with some picnic tables and lights at night if you wanna play cards there. There was a porter potty near the campsites so that was another option for the bathroom aside from the flushable toilet that was just a little bit of a walk closer to the parking lot. Multiple water/dishwashing stations with big sinks (huge plus!) Firewood was five dollars a bundle and we ran through four in one night! (Bundles are kinda small.) We did have an electric campsite, which was just one outlet (it did have an extension cord attached to it, so if I would've known this, I would've brought some lights to hang up.) The fire pit is pretty big and it comes with a cooking grate. There is also lots of trees to hang up hammocks on. The tent pad was pretty big but I did ask for a campsite that could fit 3 tents - I saw some that were a lot smaller so you will just have to let her know what you want. We had site #8 - I would stay there again. We paid $98 for an electrical campsite for two nights with four people and four bundles of firewood. Not too bad. We didn't have too much of a problem with bugs, but I would definitely bring some bug spray next time. We did have some fire ants next to the fire, but they didn't get in our food. We also saw a good bit of spiders but you're in the woods so what do you expect lol. You're also only 15-20 minutes away from some great hiking trails! We went to Clarke Creek in Mississippi. There's another closer to the campsite I believe. Anyways, i'd come back here!
