Holly Beach - Water Tower

Some people know Holly Beach, also known as the "Cajun Riviera", is a coastal community in Cameron…read moreParish, Louisiana, United States. Visitors can rent a beach house, RV spot, or camp on the beach in an RV or tent. I have been visiting this beach for years. The main thing to remember is you bring your own food and fun. Each season you can visit this beach to view our Louisiana beauty. This free beach has lost many amenities and facilities because many hurricanes have wiped out businesses. Here people can drive on the beach, and it is animal friendly. *** If you have children or dogs DON'T forget to make them wear a life jacket. The whole time on the beach or in the water. It only takes a few seconds for a person disappear or drown in the Gulf of Mexico. There are not any lifeguards on this beach. I drive a 2022 F150 with 4-wheel drive and trailer load up with off road toys and 3 ice chests (kid drinks, adult drinks, and one empty for any fish we catch). Some people park at the entrance because if you get stuck you are on your own buddy. It is hot so don't forget to bring fresh water for your animals. I bought a canopy from Sam's Club for shade and the children. Also, if anything breaks the pit crew can work in the shade. After I unpacked my chairs, gas container, sunscreen, towels, blanket, bug screen (horse flies), dog freshwater bowl, blowup floats, boogie boards, cast nets, fishing equipment, BBQ pit, charcoal, life jackets, and trash bag. There is not a trash area on this beach. You pack it in you pack it out situation. The trailer is empty and makes for a great dry table, shade for the dog, and more. My favorite part of the beach is our kites and flags. The kites remind our party where our spot is on the beach. It is easy to get lost on busy days. I relax best on a beach. I love the sand on my toes and the salt in my hair. The kids enjoy walking up and down the beach looking for seashells for jewelry and craft time. I generally stop at the Browns store for anything I forgot at home. The fried chicken strips, mash-potatoes, and mac in cheese hold up well on the dash of the truck. It stays heated just enough for lunchtime. The best snack for this beach is PB&J, chips, goldfish, pretzels, pre-popped popcorn, and gummy bears. Something always happens when you are having fun. It is a great idea to bring a full sanitary emergency box (burn spray for jellyfish or cuts). After we are finished, I dry the little ones off completely. Then dust them with baby powder over whole body. This is a trick to help not irritate their skin. Next it is time to get the toxic chemical from their ear. All you need is 90% rubbing alcohol soaked in the ear for 10- 20 seconds. The local police cruise the town in squad cars and the beach with four wheelers employees strict about the rules and laws in their community. The ticket hand is strong! Please don't drink & drive, just bring a DD or call an uber. TIPS: Don't be a litter bug. It is kind to pick up trash on the beach. PEACE-LOVE-EARTH. I encourage you to look at my photos.

Just came back from another lovely weekend of camping at Tunica Hills. Brenda and John do a…read morewonderful job of making everyone feel welcome. The campground is beautiful and each pad has a woodsy feel. Everything you need for a rustic camping experience is available, from a utility sink to wash dishes, to a shower shack, to being able to purchase firewood right onsite. There is a street type light right next to one of the porta potties which makes using it after dark so much easier. Our first trip was adults only, we liked it so much we came back and brought our kids. They had a blast. The campground is great for a large group get together, which is what we did. We all stayed at our own sites but hung out around one if the larger fire pit areas This campground is very close to clark creek hiking, which we've done twice. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely property! Gravel parking lot to park in, and Brenda will offer to help carry you/your stuff…read moredown to the campsites. There was also an unloading spot that you could drive your car down to and she also let us borrow a wagon to haul our stuff from the car for the campsite. The campsites are close by each other so it can get loud when it's really full, but I didn't mind that - I almost felt like we had neighbors lol but if you are wanting something more private, please keep that in mind. There was a flushable toilet with a running sink and a small mirror. There's also a pavilion with some picnic tables and lights at night if you wanna play cards there. There was a porter potty near the campsites so that was another option for the bathroom aside from the flushable toilet that was just a little bit of a walk closer to the parking lot. Multiple water/dishwashing stations with big sinks (huge plus!) Firewood was five dollars a bundle and we ran through four in one night! (Bundles are kinda small.) We did have an electric campsite, which was just one outlet (it did have an extension cord attached to it, so if I would've known this, I would've brought some lights to hang up.) The fire pit is pretty big and it comes with a cooking grate. There is also lots of trees to hang up hammocks on. The tent pad was pretty big but I did ask for a campsite that could fit 3 tents - I saw some that were a lot smaller so you will just have to let her know what you want. We had site #8 - I would stay there again. We paid $98 for an electrical campsite for two nights with four people and four bundles of firewood. Not too bad. We didn't have too much of a problem with bugs, but I would definitely bring some bug spray next time. We did have some fire ants next to the fire, but they didn't get in our food. We also saw a good bit of spiders but you're in the woods so what do you expect lol. You're also only 15-20 minutes away from some great hiking trails! We went to Clarke Creek in Mississippi. There's another closer to the campsite I believe. Anyways, i'd come back here!

I want start by saying this is a beautiful and well maintained State Park - "Louisiana's newest…read morestate park is very interactive with 6 cabins, 95 campsites, 4 picnic pavilion and numerous picnic sites, a visitor center, boat launch, splash park, nature trails, lakes, canoe area" and lot of wildlife roaming around. If you want to take pictures of them you'll need to be ready and alert because they are camera shy - as we crept along the improved roads in stealth mode (our Maverick is a hybrid and when driving slow it's very quiet in electric mode) we saw so much beautiful wildlife but was only able to snap a photo of one lone rabbit. We probably saw a dozen rabbits grazing the wet green grass, a few deer, lots of native birds and a 8 - 10 foot alligator that was crossing the road directly in front of us only to scurry into the swamp like he was being chased by a Cajun Chef looking to prepare a stew. We walked a few trails cautiously after seeing the gator, but the deer flies were active so we abandoned that idea pretty quickly, There is so much to do here and the State has done so many things for visitors to do no matter your age. Being avid RVers we also drove through the camp ground, the sites look level and are gorgeous, most if not have full hookups, it's appears most are gravel but there are a few concrete pads in the mix, of course lots of shade and most are very private. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent here, being this park is very very remote come with everything you need and take out everything you don't need and help keep this park pristine for the wildlife and others to enjoy...
