Second time picking this food up to bring home. My first time here I was told to try the teriyaki chicken. It was pretty solid, but not what I expected. The chicken is cut into small bites instead of whole cuts, but that doesn't change the flavor (which I thought was good). This second time around, the chicken was a lot tougher/chewier than the first time, complete with some pieces charred over on the side. The fried rice is what you'd expect, complete with corn and chopped carrots. The slices of carrot they give you are tender and deliciously sweet. The broccoli is typically great but this time, most of my pieces were a bit overcooked and charred as well. I didn't want to only get the chicken teriyaki this time, so I went for some of the sushi rolls they offer. I got the Sylva Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was decent, but there was an excessively fishy taste to it, more than what you'd expect from the ingredients it's made of. The Sylva Roll was pretty darn good though and incredibly filling. Both of them were drowned in sauces so it's a bit hard to taste the individual ingredients, but I'd give the Sylva a 7.5/10 and the Volcano a 6/10 still. My wasabi and ginger was packed into the same box, so unfortunately those were both covered in sauce--if I order for pick up again, I'll try asking for those to be put in a small plastic container. Overall, this was decent/passable and I'm looking forward to dining in soon because everyone knows that food is better when it's not sitting in a car for 10 minutes. read more

Sushi in Western North Carolina? Yup. This restaurant tucked away on the side of an old shopping mall seems to go unnoticed. However, you will be surprised at their food. They have a full menu of other dishes as well, but we have only eaten sushi there. Paradise Roll and their Silva Roll are our two favorites. Couple that with the Nigiri sushi (tuna, yellowtail) and you've made a great choice. Although their fish is limited, no Snapper (personal favorite) or Super White Tuna, what they serve is good, fresh and healthy. With limited competition in the area (I guess you could go to the bait store if you wanted), their prices are very reasonable. It's a good consistent restaurant for sushi in the area. read more

Like it more savory? Go hibachi. Whatever you select, expect generous side servings of perfectly cooked and seasoned friend rice and sweet carrots. Nice appetizers, including a delightful veggie tempura. The ginger soy dipping sauce is addictive. Also addictive: The White Sauce (of course, I want you to leave the bottle; can you also provide a really big straw?). Great food; great value. Only downside: Word is out and there's a bit of a wait at peak times. Guess what? It's worth it. PS I am not at all an experienced Sushi eater. I was skeptical of a sushi restaurant in a strip mall surrounded by BBQ joints in the middle of North Carolina. It just didn't seem like the place you'd find quality sushi, but I was craving and went for it anyway. Wow, was I surprised. This sushi is better than any to-go ready spots I've found back home in FL. Everything was fresh and delicious, the portions are generous and the prices are fair. The paradise roll is excellent, as was all the other rolls my friends tried. I get a large side of fried rice (an entire three-pocket styrofoam takeout carton's worth) with two rolls and always end up with leftovers. The staff is friendly, though I have only dealt with the cashiers for take-out so far. I plan to get some sushi here every time I come out to NC from now on. read more

Last night I ordered out and I am a regular customer and I find the food quite decent most of the time. Sometimes the chicken is a little bit dry but I guess it just depends on the cook that works there that day. I would defiantly recommend this to someone who is visiting or lives in the area and wants to eat really good food for cheap. (This coming from a student on a budget). I find the price of extra sauce a little bit expensive when ordering out. It might be different when you eat in, I can't really remember.
