Treating an elder person with such disrespect is dispicible. 2003: My neighbor and I both got roofing work done by Knox Roofing. I requested a complete roof replacement, and paid $7,255. My neighbor only wanted a partial job, and paid $3,090. It was later revealed the work orders were switched: I received the partial job, but paid for the full one. Now, more than 20 years later, my roof is deteriorating. Knox Roofing (owner: Warren Knox) acknowledged the mistake, but was only willing to offer a partial repair (300 sq ft), not a full replacement (969 sq ft). He admitted the mistake -- and said I paid for your neighbor's full roof. He also is not willing to do the work that should have been done 20 years ago. My request is reasonable: either a full replacement or refund of the difference: $7,255 paid - $3,090 service received = $4,165 owed to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I would give 0 STARS IF I COULD!!!!!! This company using their company car was aggressively tailgating me and my baby in the back seat then illegally passing us on a one way road!!!!! Asked them to give a bid on roof repair and on roof replacement. Company representative came out to our place, said they don't do roof repairs. When calculating the roof replacement bid, the guy didn't even go on the roof, walked around the house for 15 minutes max. Said he'd email soon. Two weeks later, got the bid for three times (300%) the price quoted by another local company for the roof replacement. Won't ever hire Knox Roofing. Adding response to owner comment: The owner is literally suggesting that his company did not come to our house, that I could not read the words "Knox Roofing" when I found their number, made the appointment, and received the bid. Warren Knox is a bully and hot head. I still have an unresolved issue after many follow up requests. Finally paid someone else after paying thousands of dollars. Warren is unprofessional. He thinks because he is in commercials, he is some sort of a celebrity and does not need to act in a professional manner. His crew was great, but does not make up for his lack of good business. His gutter person bent a gutter with a ladder. Warren told me it was my fault since I insisted on an inspection per my permit requirements. I put a stop payment on my final check until the gutter was fixed. Finally after Warren called me many names, the gutter was fixed. Also, there was a bait and switch attempt for work done around my chimney. After all of these type of issues, I would never recommend Knox Roofing. He lost two jobs in my neighborhood due to his lack of professionalism. Beware! read more

Knox Roofing did a great job on our roof replacement and helped us save our homeowners insurance policy. Our long time insurance company sent us a 90 day non renewal notice because our roof had some discoloration. By the time we were ready to decide on a roofer, we realized no one could do it in time. Knox stepped up and finished the job on the 90th day. The office coordinated with and sent completion paperwork to our insurance company. It was accepted and our policy was renewed. I hired Knox to do a roof inspection on my house before purchasing. The report stated the roof was in "good condition." I bought the house. 3 years later, a skylight leak has uncovered my entire roof was installed incorrectly and needs replacement asap (a unanimous opinion of 3 other roofing companies). I went up there with all 3 roofers / estimators and I mean, it took each of them under 2 minutes to say, "this entire roof was put on incorrectly." So, from where I stand, do not hire this company. They are either extremely negligent or extremely incompetent. read more

Quick update: It's now been 20 years and the roof, skylights, and sun tunnel are still beautiful & leak free. We did have a small issue where water channeled onto the side of the house from the drain on the garage roof, requiring us to fix some rotting siding and reroute the drain. I'm honestly not sure positioning the drains correctly when re-roofing was their job, but it seems like they are connected. We're still pleased with the work overall, and would use them again, just making sure to mention the importance of drain placement. read more

Experienced a significant roof leak during the recent heavy storms in Santa Cruz. Knox had previously installed a sealed vinyl roof on the flat section at the back of my house which had performed very well and this was a new leak in a different location and of significant size.....I mean gallons of water. Knox workers Darby and Juan came out and spent several hours in an effort to locate the issue, finding a cavity high up on the second story behind a gutter. A professional job was made to seal everything thoroughly and all is OK now. I continue to be satisfied with the service from Knox roofing. read more

This is the WORST company ever... save yourself some trouble and STAY AWAY FROM THEM. My roof was installed 1 year ago.. a few weeks later (on the first rain) we woke up to not 1 or 2... but about 5 leaks on the roof. I had to call several times throughout the rain season (they had to come several times) they "solved" the issues after the last time time they came, ONLY because we had no rain after that time. Now, a year later for the first heavy rain we have leaks again. (They also try to blame the skylights.). that prior to the new roof didn't leak so whatever they did IF it is the skylights it is STILL their fault. Now, the WORST part comes... I just got yelled at by their bookkeeper because according to her I SHOULD NOT be upset that I have to waste my time calling them over and over and we STILL have leaks. Also, because I should not be upset that every time I call I have to give the same info over and over and over again. Lastly, she talked about professionalism.. WOW after the work they preformed on the roof and the NOT 1 time not 2 times BUT the 4th time she hung up on me right before I had to write this review. I think she knows cero about the definition of the word. So, here I am STILL wondering how they will they FIX the problem. All she could say was.. "you will hear from us Monday!" And they just clicked the phone. WWOOOOOOOOOW!! She also learned over the phone that ( I am the worst mother in the world) Sooooooo IF you DO NOT want to deal with a leaky roof, a bookkeeper that yells at you and then hangs up several times and can also insult you as a parent... The roof they put on in 2016 has leaked every single year causing so much damage inside my house. They used to come patch it but this year I haven't been able to get them to. Jan and Feb and March of 2024 the roof is leaking again of course and they won't come out to fix it. Someone has come out 4 different times to place plastic up on my roof but they haven't come to fix it. I contacted Warren and they now won't return my emails anymore. I'm going to have to replace a 30 year roof after 7 years. We spent good money on this roof and expected it to last at least the 10 years it's warranty is for. read more

Last Thursday, Dane, the roofing consultant came out to my home to look at some drip edge damage and flashing sticking up. He took pictures, told me he would have the work done either this past Monday or Tuesday, before the holiday weekend. I called and left several messages, no one calls back. I talk to Dane who gives me some excuse about his manager being out of town, this is a holiday weekend and no one is available; blames me for such short notice saying they had other jobs before mine even though he's the one saying this repair is a simple 1/2 hour job to fix. The company and staff is very abrupt, sarcastic and gives the customers the pushoff. Extremely disappointed. Would never use them again. Consumer beware. read more

So happy to have this company in my town, can walk in their office any time..and what a pleasant women are in their office! They treat you like a family member. They came right away when I had a leak over the garage door, completed the fix so efficiently! They sent 4 roofers, because it was an emergency (rainy week) and they inspected the whole roof, cleaned concrete tiles and gutters - all was done in 2 visits. Hired them to repair damage from a tree limb that fell on the roof. Since they installed the roof 18 years ago and I've been very happy with it, I didn't even consider anybody else. His roofers are working across the street and although there were plenty of places to park they parked in front of my house. It's a public street so they have every right. Except the driver of the truck asked me if I'd like him to move it and I said "sure, my girlfriend will be here soon and likes to park there." He then walked across the street to the jobsite and began a conversation with his co-worker, loudly. Apparently he didn't think I understood Spanish and was saying things like "tell him to ____ my ____. So no surprise 4 hrs later he's still there. Knox, why do you let people work for you that are so disrespectful and rude? This is a Senior Park so if they talk to/about one of us this way, imagine how they must behave around others... Top-Notch! As we bought our house about a decade ago, we knew the roof would need replacing in the not too distant future. When we felt the time had come, we found ourselves the first of our HOA and surrounding neighborhood to brave the effort, so didn't have a recommendation, and were a bit apprehensive - it's no small undertaking. We had remembered when Knox had come out to check something at inspection when we first bought the house - they didn't waste any time, and were quick and efficient to give us the answer we needed... so we checked back with Knox and found they have long been an award-winning business. Warren Knox came out within days to evaluate the job, gave us an estimate, and a date to get started. With the same efficiency and an award-winning product to offer, Knox fully replaced our roof within a week. It was a loud process, as expected, since it is basically construction after all, but when all was said an done, they checked behind themselves(!) for any nicks or scrapes, and quickly resolved a very few small issues. Read the small print! I have had Knox do 2 roofing jobs for me. When my "40 year" roof leaked they came out and explained that they no longer use the nails that had been used on mine 10 years ago and replace a few spots with a new type. They sent two guys who put up a few shingles but the leak continued. They sent another team who finally discovered that one of the vents had gotten bent when they initially put it in. By then the leak had ruined the wall and door casing in the room below the attic space. When I asked about repairing the damage it turns out that while my shingles have a 40 year guarantee the other materials and workmanship really only had a 5. It took 3 phone calls and as many days to find this out. Because we've had limited rain it had taken that many years for the leak to show. The finally sent out Jose to repair the damaged wall and door casing. He started the job and said he'd have to come back to finish when the drywall/taping dried. I called 2 more times and each time he was "sick". They have NEVER completed the job. Not great customer service and I certainly won't be using them in the future. read more

The original estimate was low - lower than expected, but after they started working and discovered all of the issues with the roof, a change order both covered all the issues and ended up with a beautiful new roof within budget. The fact that they used a lot of workers meant that disruptions were kept to a minimum. I was very satisfied with the end result. read more

Several of my friends have used Knox Roofing, and have been satisfied with the quality and professionalism of the work, so I included them in the 4 bids I received. I am a widow, of a certain age, and my learning curve was steep. This is the summer of 2022, with material costs increasing as shipping becomes a great issue, and any petroleum product (asphalt shingles) costs increasing. Knox was able to give me their estimate bid and could start the job within 2 weeks. The other companies gave me their (slightly) lower bids, but couldn't schedule me for 2-3 months, and also stated their estimates were simply estimates, as costs are increasing and I would be responsible for the actual cost of materials at the time of the job. In other words, " here's our bid, but it could be 35% higher when we get around to it." What would you do? I chose Knox, with a good reputation, a straight-shooter rep, satisfied friends, and an honest up-front estimate. The crews were amazing! Everyone was courteous and professional. I watched them work, and was amazed with the quality craftsmanship. In the heat! They cleaned up the area at the end of everyday. Thumbs up to Knox Roofing! This new roof with gutters and downspouts will last well beyond my lifetime. And increase the value of my home. Truly it increases the curb appeal and is a beautiful job. Due to lack of knowledge, untrained workers, and sheer negligence, Knox Roofing destroyed almost $1000 worth of my property with water damage while in the process of fixing my roof. I photographed and cataloged each ruined item, taking up much of my time, only to be given the runaround anytime I called to check progress, being told repeatedly that my claim was "on Warren's desk". Well, Warren's desk must be a completely and totally covered in these types of claims because I have yet to hear a word from that scam artist, even with my persistent calling. Knox called and let us know that they would be available in a few days. they came out and the first crew took off the old roof within a few hours that crew was great. Hired to refresh waterproofing on balconies. Proper pre-tests such as a pull test. My job was done between other jobs At their convenience. The job strung out over 1.5 years and when all was done, the result was a decking full of bubbled up product. I had the factory rep and another roofing company out both of which confirmed the issues was an application problem. In response to the problem, Knox roofing suggested a different solution with an additional charge to me exceeding $10,000.00. While they were at it they inspected my roof and gave it a thumbs up. Nice to know :) Then I had Knox back to install gutter guards. First they cleaned all the gutters top to bottom. You can't imagine all the junk that builds up in your gutters! Then they installed the gutter guards and now I don't have to worry about leaves and needles blocking up my gutters - FOREVER! We had an unusual issue. Dead vines stuck in the rain gutter and underneath roof shingles, hanging down from a steep 20' roof that I couldn't get up to and looking very ugly.
