We stumbled across this little place, which is on the main tourist drag (Broadway), by happenstance, as the wife popped into the adjacent novelty/souvenir shop. I poked my head into this place and saw they served soft-serve ice cream. It was listed as only $4, which is great deal especially in Alaska! We were not hungry for a meal, but some soft-serve sounded good; so when the wife was done we entered and were greeted by the pleasant owner. You order at the counter and receive said order there as well.
I wish we were actually hungry, because they had giant pretzels with several of them being flavored such as with Jalapeno. They also had a few sandwiches stuffed into pretzel bread / wrapping! On top of that they also had some pepperoni pizza by the slice, nachos and a couple breakfast type offerings. Those food items all looked so good; and I asked someone who was indulging in one of those sandwiches and they gave two thumbs up.
The pricing on the above noted items were all quite excellent, again - especially for Alaska! I don't recall seeing anything on the menu board costing more than $8.
Upon leaving I recommended to the owner they should consider putting up some nice signage, like the one on their interior menu board, advertising what they offer; but more importantly their great pricing. If it had not been for my wife going into the adjoining business we would have just walked right by, not knowing what they served. Sadly it appeared many were doing just that, as the business from the outside was so non-descriptive. The owner kind of indicated they may run into trouble with the local city government in doing so, but would look into it. I wish them luck! read more
