A hidden gem is correct. You might assume, not that great, as it caters to Holland America Tours, but you'd be wrong. This is an independent Restaurant with a warm inviting atmosphere. The food was creative, delicious and well presented. My girlfriend had the crusted halibut and it was perfect. I had the special, risotto, with king crab leg. Portions were generous, and it was rich, buttery and good. The wait staff made it even better. David, Darcie and Lilly were super nice. The chefs are top notch and take pride in their craft. We had just arrived in Skagway from the ferry. We drove straight for the border but didn't realize it wasn't open for us to pass yet. We were dying for some real food after being stuck on the ferry for so long. With it being so early in the morning on the 4th of July, there were limited options and we didn't have high hopes for the Chilkoot Dining room. But boy were we wrong! It's located inside this incredibly cute and impressively decorated hotel. As soon as I saw the words "Breakfast Buffet", I knew we struck gold. The food was incredible! Everything was laid out nicely, smelled great, and was hot! The servers were so kind and prompt too. This was the greatest meal we have had in a long time! Best kept secret in Skagway. This restaurant was in the Holland America Skagway Inn, and we didn't think to eat here until we heard how popular it was with the locals. This was definitely the best meal we had in Skagway (we spent 3 nights here). The food was fantastic, and we really enjoyed our server. The king salmon special I had with a miso glaze was wonderful, but all 8 of us really enjoyed our dinner. The cauliflower side was to die for (served with buffalo sauce, blue cheese, bacon, and garlic)- I could have made a meal of - and the broccolini side with hollandaise was terrific. We tried all of the desserts, and liked them all, but the coconut flan with mango puree was the winner. Highly recommend this place for dinner! read more

We stopped in for breakfast trying to beat the cruise ship crowd. The barista was very accommodating and definitely took care of us. The chicken willie is awesome for a hearty breakfast and the only recommendation I have is to have a couple more items on the food menu. The choices were a 25$+ buffet, a sausage breakfast burrito, or the chicken Willie. I'm glad I chose the chicken. Fried chicken tender, THICK cuts of bacon, a biscuit and smothered in home made sausage gravy. Probably not the healthiest thing to eat regularly, but they say in moderation..... We had dinner twice in this hotel restaurant. Overall service and food were good. FYI smoked salmon salad was tasty, but it wasn't smoked salmon-cold cooked salmon with a light smoky taste. Disappointed in that. Seafood chowder and iceberg salad were good; the vegetarian tortellini was very good per my husband. read more

Lovely dining room in Westmark Inn, off of Broadway. We all had pasta tonight, Bolognese, Spinach and mushroom vegitarian, and Seafood. All pastas handmade and incredible. Garden tomatoes and herbs, fresh shrimp and crab, fantastic Bolognese ... wow! Don't know why not written up before, but was delicious! Ate so fast, too late for pictures except for seafood pasta which was already mixed and stirred so seafood was kind of hidden. Incredible flavor! read more
