You'll be shocked to hear we were here because we were on an Alaskan cruise. After we did the train…read moreexcursion and walked around town a bit we were ready for lunch and this place looked great. It turned out to be one of those perfect meals you'll always remember. This was in early September and the weather was perfect: in the 60s and sunny. We sat outside and both got the regular fish and chips (greenling) and it was really really good. Service was fast and friendly. They even had Simply lemonade and Pure Leaf iced tea, which is very uncommon. Skagway was my favorite port on the cruise and Salty was one of the reasons why. Would definitely go again if we're ever up there.

I am so glad I stopped at Salty Siren at the end of the port day! Sitting on that patio, having some beers and excellent food with that view, made me appreciate my life - no matter the ups and downs, I made it to Alaska to this very spot. :) Staff was friendly and it seems like this is a local spot, as I heard my server, Clark, greet some locals too. Clark was super helpful - I let him know what I was thinking (I wanted the 10 oz of king crab but not the side that came with, and also wanted an appetizer) and he suggested a swap from fries (I think) to a cup of chowder ($3 charge for substitution). He also suggested the peppered prawns. All of the food tasted SO GOOD. The peppered prawns had a punchy flavor that was tempered by the bread provided - and I used the leftover sauce to dip my crab into whenever I wanted to switch up from the provided butter. The crab was so much tastier than the one I had in Juneau with more meat! Felt like I got a good deal on it. Chowder was my favorite of the trip. Beer selection was good - I had stopped at Skagway Brewing earlier and really enjoyed their Spruce Tip Blonde, which was also available here. Skagway Brewing had run out of the Salty Siren lager (I have to assume it was related to this restaurant!) but this restaurant had it so I got to try it. Overall, I would come back to Salty Siren the next time I come to Skagway. It was definitely a highlight for my visit there!

Amazing Amazing Amazing. This is a MUST stop! The fish and chips here are the best I've ever HAD…read morehands down. Their crab cakes are delicious as well but these fish and chips were out of this world fresh, flavorful and the batter was perfection not too thick and just right, served with coleslaw and tarter sauce and delicious fries. We sat by the bar and Molly the bartender was very attentive and bubbly and knew her selections of beer and what to go for and all. The service is the same and quick. We came at lunch time and was a bit full so there was room at the bar and was first come first served. The ambiance here is great, you can people watch thru the window and see all the cruise ships and have a quick bite to eat and enjoy the fun music and ambiance is great. Will def be back when we come back to Alaska this is the place to grab a bite to eat.. thanks for a wonderful experience.

We were promptly seated. Several customers were there so place appeared busy. We were on a time crunch so ordered the crab cakes and king crab legs. Both items came out in reasonable time. The $21 crab cakes were not great and had significant breading (2/5 stars). The $119 two piece king crab served with clarified butter was excellent and tasty (5/5 stars). They give you the appropriate utensils and pickers to cut the claws open. Overall good experience but wish I could've tried more items in the menu. Would return when I'm in the area!

OMG, where to begin. My family and I visited Skagway today and discovered the greatest restaurant…read morepossibly in the entire state! We weren't there for a typical meal, we did a culinary and Alaskan gardening class. These two things happen to be my all time favorite pass times. I learned so much from nearly every staff member I came into contact with. Their pastry chef taught us so much about bread making and the science behind it and was incredibly knowledgeable. The in house gardener (yes they have one of those!) grows ingredients on site to help supplement food costs and she taught us so much about how climate impacts the plants she grows. (Their rhubarb was gigantic) everything we ate was off the charts amazing! If I had to give a negative comment it would be that the manager seemed inconvenienced by the guests and made sure to tell us that we were keeping him from his busy day, but to be fair he said he isn't usually the one who gives guest presentations so I have to give him props for doing it even when he clearly had other things to do. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE if you find yourself in Skagway, but get there early because space is limited. 11/10 Great job!!!

We were walking around the town and saw their sign for a Reindeer Ruben that caught our interest. There was only a small line to order which was good because we were not sure if the hotdog was going to be a meal or a snack. The portion size was average so we decided to share one as a snack. They also had the option to have it as a Chili Dog instead. The service was very friendly and our food was prepared pretty quickly. The Reindeer Hotdog was served in a french bread roll that was a little bigger than the dog but it held all the ingredients in it just fine. I liked the crunch of the hot dog skin and the cabbage slaw on top was fresh. I didn't notice the cheese at first and it was a very thin slice. The sauce on top was a ketchup mayo mix like on a regular Ruben sandwich. The flavors were good and the hotdog was hot. Next time I will have to try their main sit down restaurant.
