Honestly 5 stars doesn't feel like enough! My fiancé came here after making two visits to Suit Supply with an associate who wasn't upfront about delivery times. By the time he realized it, we were up against the wall. Thank God he found Knot Standard (and Mario!). This time I went to the appt to make sure I was asking all the right questions, but as soon as I met Mario, my stress melted away. He clearly knows what he's doing, and made amazing suggestions. He was never pushy, and you can tell he really cares about the quality of what they're producing. I also attended the fittings and imagine my surprise when the custom suit AND tuxedo fit like a glove... the FIRST TIME. It was clear immediately how different a custom suit is from what you get off the rack. Shopping at Knot Standard was a unique experience from the start, thanks to their tech-driven experience matched up with one of their consultants, Hassan. Hassan welcomed me outside their location, led me to their showroom upstairs, and took care of everything I needed. Hassan spent a good amount of time understanding my wife's wedding vision and color schemes and took into account my tuxedo budget to recommend a number of options that would fit what I was looking for. He thoroughly explained all of the swatches, fabrics, linings, and other customizations available to me. Before allowing me to place my order, Hassan was transparent with me about some of the supply chain issues he was facing and warned me that the delivery timeline would cut it close to the wedding date, but that he would try his best to make it work. I embarked on my journey to get a few suits that weren't from Zara right after I turned 30. After deciding I wanted to try this 'bespoke suit' thing everyone claims is a whole different ballgame, I looked around Yelp at half a dozen spots that had a very luxury rep, but clearly were reasonable in terms of price. My frontrunner was Astor and Black, but it turned out they were now out of business. A few people recommended some places down in Soho, but like most suiting places, the reviews were totally polarized, either 'worst anything ever' or 'my $800k suits don't hold a candle to this place (or whatever).' So totally baffled, I asked my best dressed 'suits all the time even at brunch' friend I know from Soho House where he got all of his daper suits. He told me he was friends with the people who ran a place called Knot Standard, that he got all his fancy stuff there, and got me in touch with Marisa. Being a man very interested in the path of least resistance, Marisa sent me a Google calendar invite and my big day was set. One thing I read on the Art of Manliness was that a quality suit is 'fully canvassed', so I was happy to find out that theirs are too. It seemed like MySuit and some of the other mid range bespoke houses I checked out only partially canvass. Now I'm not an overly fussy person, I know when things go together and generally what is stylish, but I'm definitely glad I brought my lady for assistance. Between my girl and Marisa, we landed on two suits, in a Zenga fabric, one a deep blue and one a medium grey. I enjoyed being able to pick out all the details (liner fabric/monogram thread/lapel button stitching from hundreds of samples).In about 45 minutes, I had been measured, picked out all the stuff, was told the process and was given a very fair price that included the two suits and a few shirts. I was excited, but somewhat concerned that I wouldn't be blown away when they came in. I simply refused to believe this would be better than any other suit I've worn. I had a wedding to attend a few months after the fitting so I wanted to make sure I would have my suits by then. I was assured it wouldn't be a problem. The way it works is that while the suits are being made, they make you a very nice white shirt (that you get to keep) so they can make sure it is what you want before ordering your other shirts for you. Two weeks later I was told the shirt was in, so I came back down to check it out. Here's the thing about tailored clothing that they gloss over when they are busy gushing about how amazing it is. Similar to skydiving, or other totally unique experiences, when I put this shirt on in the dressing room, not thinking much of it, all of a sudden I realized it fit PERFECTLY. Its a weird sensation, one I hope you have enjoyed or will shortly. Its so utterly bizarre since typically in a store fitting room there are always things that aren't exactly right or its close enough that you don't even care. Not this time. In addition, my name was monogrammed on the inside of the collar. I suddenly realized I have always wanted my name monogrammed in all my clothing. A few weeks later (I think it was about a month in total from initial fitting to suits arriving), Marisa hit me up and I came back down to their location after work. They are very accommodating about making sure you can come in after 9-5 hours. It truly feels like they are on your schedule, making you tailored clothes somewhere just for you. In addition, Marisa was a excellent salesperson and gave me the sort of attention I really didn't expect when buying something like a suit. Both of my suits also fit PERFECTLY. All my decisions came together in such a cool way that was an expression of me, and had all kinds of details I wasn't even told about like a thin rubber strip inside the waist that keeps your shirt tucked in! I was hoping this would happen, but I was skeptical throughout the whole process that this would truly be as life changing as everyone claims. Well I'm a convert now. I decided I wanted the pants taken in slightly so I could wear them without a belt, and they altered them for me for free and I had them back in a week. I liked the shirt so much that I decided to order two more (they have my size already right?) while hanging out there. They are the same price as a Steven Alan shirt and since most dress shirts look terrible on me, having a few extras that make me look great are near priceless. I started writing this review when we were in the middle of ordering a suit from them. After working with them for months we asked for a refund 3 weeks before the wedding and went to buy an off-the-rack suit because it was too late for anything else. They said yes to the refund... but took weeks to deliver it, which was par for the course by then. I would NOT suggest using this company if you need a suit by a certain deadline... even if that deadline is 5 months away. The details I wrote out in October are below. I feel like it is worth noting that we were not using a groupon or uber deal. ------------------- the early details ------- We are in the process of getting a suit from Knot Standard.... and I am wishing we had gone a different way. I'll update when we have the finished suit... presuming that happens. My partner Chris and I are getting married in Jan 2014, I read about Knot Standard online and rather then rent a tux we decided to have a suit made for him. The initial meeting in the Manhattan office on 8/30/13 went well, fabric and design were picked, we asked for the vest to be made longer then standard and we ordered a shirt as well. I was concerned when the person we met with only measured one bicep and not the other, and when I suggested he do both seemed surprised that they were different sizes, even though we had stated Chris was a camera man and worked with heavy gear. That lack of thought about measuring concerned me, but I waived off that doubt. I sent an extra email after the meeting to remind them we wanted the vest and inch or two longer then standard, then confirmed it would be. They told us the suit would be ready in 3-4 weeks. On 10/23/13 (8 weeks later) they said the suit was ready. Chris went in to pick it up/try it on. It did not fit. The shirt would not button at the neck, the lapels of the jacket would not lay flat on his chest, the vest was too tight, and NOT the longer length we requested. They said they would re-make the shirt, and have the tailor fix the jacket and vest and that it would be ready in a week. The changes were ready for Chris to try on 10/8/13 (2 weeks later). I went with him to the appointment. The changing room was in the utility closet, whatever... but the suit didn't fit. read more

I would give this place 5 stars, but the first 20 min i spent at the store were miserable. The woman who initially greeted me was, to say the least, very unpleasant to work with. This was my first time getting a custom suit, so I didnt know how these places worked. I made an appointment online and went in to get a feel for it, and when she answered some of my questions i still felt hesitant - so i told her i'm not sure if i'm gonna buy something right now... her answer "well then what are you doing here?" At that point I shouldve just got up and left, but I didnt for some reason. I got measured and everything and left. Called back a few days later expressing my disappointment in working with her, where Ryan stepped up to the plate to get me everything I needed. He fixed her mistakes on the tuxedo, like the spelling of my name, wrong measurements, etc. and had a new jacked made for me quickly. I went back to get it perfect and Ryan was willing to help me everytime, no matter how minor the adjustments are. He threw in a couple of free shirts and suspenders to make up for my first impression, and really turned my experience into something I was enjoying.. I mean after all, its my wedding tux! Based on my recent experiences, this company is the Subway sandwiches of bespoke. Extremely disheartening. Read all for the inadequate service and unimpressive work. I ordered 2 suits here- one for me and one as a birthday present for a friend. Our stylist Marisa failed to inform me for over 2 weeks that my suit was ready for a fitting (I only found out because I heard from my friend who I had gifted the suit that he has received a text from her). We scheduled a time to come in together for a fitting and were rushed through the process and out the door with out any detailed review of the features of the suit. My pants needed further alteration and she said: "we'll just try an inch all around" which was the most specific discussion we had in the entire fitting. When I returned home I inspected my garment and found stitching which was not to my taste nor specifications. It was wide Freddy Krueger jabs of thread that reminded me of the temporary baste my grandmother would do before the final stitch on my clothes when she made dresses for me as a girl. I sent a friend of mine who exclusively wears custom clothing and shoes a picture of the stitch and he said "your jacket needs more love and work." I contacted Marisa who snippily informed me this was the final stitch, emailed me a Wikipedia article about stitches so I could "have more knowledge about it" (?!!?!), and told me there was "no way of undoing the stitching." This has been an absolutely lovely (sarcasm) counterpoint to Knot Standard's rhetoric about attention to detail and responsiveness to client needs, requests and alterations. I committed to bespoke with expectations about service and corrections that have not been met. Finally Marisa offered to contact me on Monday with a set of times the head of production would be available to set up a phone call with me. I did not receive an email until Tuesday (today) --I will update this review with the final information as to whether the company continues to fail my basic needs as a client or if they will eventually correct their mistake. In either respect, I recommend learning from my mistake, and looking more closely at a clothier before committing to work with them. read more

This review is for an online purchase on knotstandard.com. I recently got married and decided to go with suits in lieu of tuxedos for the wedding. One of my groomsmen suggested Knotstandard, and we ended up ordering four suits from them. Here in Los Angeles, we unfortunately do not have a KS private showroom, so we followed the online videos to measure and sent in our orders online. Before doing so, I started working with Alexandra Kramer, who called me on a Saturday and walked me through the different custom options, fabrics, colors, full vs half canvas, etc. She followed up with me throughout the process and was super easy to work with. All of the suits arrived between 3-4 weeks after ordering. One required no alterations, another minor alterations, and the remaining two had some adjustments done to both the jacket and pants. This all stemmed from the fact that our measuring technique could have been better, so I'd recommend going to your tailor or another fashion industry professional for your measurements. Alexandra continued to work with me through the alteration process, and also expedited a remake of a shirt that I had ordered that was too short. All of the alteration costs were reimbursed and they do stand behind their guarantee that they will make sure you are happy with your garments. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a M2M suit, as long as you have a bit of leeway in terms of your turnaround timing (minimum 4 weeks). I would not hesitate to buy from knotstandard again in the future. read more

I tried on many but none had that "Just Right" feel. I was getting overwhelmed by all the choices that either didn't come in my size or was not available in the color I wanted. Then that's when I came across The Knot Standard" there the team took my measurements and showed me on the big screen what my suit would look like . I was able to choose the way the pockets were angled and they even let me add my name engraved to the shirt and suit. The fabrics and and details that are available for customers is truly outstanding. After the short wait the suit was completed and truly is a work of art. The amount of care that I was given through my entire order was amazing. The team answered all my questions and provided me updates on the process. Having a custom suit that has been fitted properly truly is exceptional and has no comparison. I am glad that for an award me price I was able to get such an amazing suit. After over two years of disappointing service, I now realize that Knot Standard is not the company I thought it was when I first entered its showroom. KS provides smiles, pretty fabrics, and promises. It also provides consistently inexperienced and inadequate customer service. It was all a terrible waste of time for me. If you are looking for sophisticated, personal attention and go-above-and-beyond dependability, this is not the place for you. If you want twentysomethings who have found the sartorial equivalent of a new Ferrari and have no idea how to drive it, this is the business model for you. Right away she was not only excited about outfitting my wedding party but trying to go above and beyond to make it as special and great as it could be. No one offered to do nearly what Knot Standard proposed, and most were offering less at a greater cost. Our fitting is next month and absolutely can't wait! Looking forward to receiving our suits, getting to experience the Know Standard custom experience but most of all feeling my best with my best men on what I know will be the best day! I was nervous to buy because it looks like the company has had some hiccups. I tried a shirt after Wade (I think he's an agent?) told me I could return it for a refund since it was my first order. I was told 4 weeks, which I don't think is unreasonable since it's custom, and the shirt arrived in three. I guess they're trying to go for the Zappo's approach to win over customers. The shirt fit well, and I have short arms (which is why I wanted to try custom). The part that impressed me the most wasn't customer service (pretty good), website (pretty standard, I guess), or speed (it's not instant gratification), I really like the fabric - it's thick, but soft. Most of my shirts are practically transparent, and with this one, I don't need to wear an undershirt. I'll definitely get more shirts, and maybe try a jacket (don't really wear suits). read more

I am a frequent purchaser of made-to-measure suits and shirts. Knot Standard sorely disappointed in many ways. In the end, I got an ok suit and some nice shirts. But my experience was poor. I will not return and I would not recommend it. My main gripes were with the service and speed. I found the service to be very condescending. There were a lot of assumptions and projections made about what I might want or not - a specific color here, a specific collar type there - without asking me and including me in the decision. Also, the company and its representatives are not terribly responsive. Many emails and calls went unanswered, causing considerable anxiety. Their turnaround times were not predictable ("a few weeks") and were often quite delayed. They didn't seem to operate with any sense of urgency, which was irritating given that I had just handed over $1000. They are also extremely expensive compared to other M2M companies and they have this strange online vs. in store model where the online prices are cheaper, but if you are an in store customer (say, if you live in a city where they have a store and you came in for a fitting), the folks in the showroom get totally weird about discussing any fabrics or promotions that can be found online. It just felt shady and icky. Not a pleasant suiting experience. read more

Knot Standard is pretty freaking lovely. The service is truly unparalleled. Jordan, who was our consultant went above and beyond the call of duty, as well as understood the tone and vibe we were looking for. She always greeted us with a smile and drink and a laugh. The only critique I would give, which was out of her control, was that one of the suits was missing the buttons in the pants for the suspenders, and because the suit was delivered (personally by Jordan to my workplace, because she is awesome) close to the very last minute, we didn't have time to check it and make alterations before leaving for the wedding location. Again, the service was amazing. The suits looked impeccable. Jordan was amazing. I can't recommend her more highly. If you're reading this Knot Standard, she deserves a raise. read more

I've ordered from KS two times now. I have 4 shirts, a blazer, and a suit, which consisted of two separate orders over the past 6 months (first half of 2013). I shop online all the time but have never done custom clothing (online or in person). I honestly don't understand the horrible reviews because I've had a fine experience even though there have been some bumps along the way. I will say that they are not really fast at responding but I'll typically get a response within 24-48 hrs. To me, this is not awful for something that will take weeks to make. If you are in that much of a hurry, go elsewhere and hold on to your wallet (or get something that fits worse). My only problem now is that I don't have more money to keep replacing my wardrobe because all my other suits and shirts seems ill fitting and boring now. So, I'll hit the important points overall then discuss my experience. 1. Style. Top notch. The fabric is high quality. My grey blazer has a stunning purple liner that often gets comments. My shirts all have excellent detail work around the button holes and cuffs. The suit is my new favorite. 2. Fit. Excellent. I actually had one shirt that I thought the fit wasn't great and they did offer the $75 alteration credit. Mind you, the shirt cost me $85. But when I brought it to the tailor, they reassured me that the fit was right and I probably wasn't used to having a custom fit shirt since most men's shirts fit like tents. Now that I've gotten used to it, all my other (non-custom) shirts seem huge and fit poorly. 3. Cost. Very good. Other online bespoke places have been mentioned but all of them cost a good 10-20% more. I can't really compare because I've not used any of the others but at the price point, I don't see how you can beat KS. My experiences: 1. Shirt out of stock. At one point, I had ordered a shirt that went out of stock. They contacted me about the issue and asked if there was another I would like instead. There was, and the switch was made. Now, this did happen late in the cycle (i.e. after maybe two weeks) so I didn't get my shirt until maybe 5-6 weeks after my original order. Perhaps this is infuriating to some people but I see it as business. To be clear: you are getting a custom shirt delivered to your door. I don't see why this is a huge deal. 2. Shirt didn't fit. I noted this above. Turns out I was just wrong and not used to how custom clothes are supposed to fit. I took it to a tailor and he laughed at me :) Now I love it. They responded with the $75 offer pretty quickly. 3. Order delay. My first order I placed right before Christmas. Honestly, I think they were swamped. I forget how long it took to get it but it was maybe 6-8 weeks. They offered me a $25 credit for my next order. So, perhaps I'm just really relaxed about stuff and these same things irritate others a lot. But to me, I'm just going about my life and custom clothing arrives at my door. I check on it every now and then, but I'm not counting down the days waiting for my order; I'm a busy guy. With KS, what you see online is what you get. Find a suit you like, your measurements are there, click 'buy' and in a while you get a new suit. It is way harder for me to go to the mall, try on a bunch of suits, get them altered, etc. and I've not found custom suits for this price anywhere else. read more

After my final fitting, the alterations to my suit were turned around in just two days and hand delivered to my home. The final product is an absolutely wonderful looking and feeling suit. My wife was even more impressed with the fit than I was, which is a good thing. I am blown away by the effort made on the part of Knot Standard since I came into touch with Alex. Obviously nothing can erase the initial interactions, and while I'm not sure I would revisit the showroom again, I have been assured that the final measurements used to create my suit, including alterations, will be stored to the online shop. I am more than pleased with the latest experience and actually look forward to the online shopping options that are now available. What began as a rough, to say the least, experience, was definitely turned around by some TLC. If all the employees treated all the customers the way I've been treated over the last month or so, I have no doubt that Knot Standard would be head and shoulders above their peers in the M2M market. I hope that message trickles down to their showrooms. When working in retail or services, every customer counts, and I was definitely made to feel like a VIP with my recent experience. UPDATE (JANUARY 16, 2017): Stylist Dayne W. restored my confidence in Knot Standard DC, so I'm raising my rating up to five stars. THE SUIT. I'm finally getting the sort of custom suit that I had wanted to get when I first walked into Knot Standard DC in May 2015. (See earlier reviews for full history.) I just had a fitting for my three-piece navy VBC 3/2-roll suit with peaked lapels and Neopolitan-influenced shirring (spalla camicia). It includes little details like an extended tab closure in the trouser's front (h/t Fine Young Gentleman's Justin Jeffers) and a button-fly trouser closure rather than zipper-fly (a la old school European tailoring). While I've had various bespoke and custom MTM garments made, the custom suit that Dayne measured for me is inarguably the best-fitting one in my wardrobe. One thing that KS and Dayne got absolutely right compared to DC-area competitors was the suit's higher armpit holes ("scye"). THE SERVICE. I find Dayne to be very professional and very attentive in sharp contrast to my two previous KS stylists. He listens to the customer, and really tries to find out how to implement the customer's vision. He's also refreshingly analytical -- for example, he's clearly spent time thinking about how to get the best results for Knot Standard's MTM measuring system, and had come up with some clever methods to get the best results. BOTTOM LINE. I love my new suit, and I'm ordering more. If you try Knot Standard DC, I recommend you demand to work with Dayne. read more

I've gotten custom before, and I must say there's custom and then there's KNOT custom! What a difference. True, I've always known custom is where it's at, but KNOT until I had KNOT STANDARD did I Understand the difference. I've gotten a suit, a couple of shirts and the detail was amazing. What made the difference for me was that Miriam took the time to call me about possible details she thought would make that extra difference. Then, she went further to customize my suit and shirt with appropriate pocket squares and ties that would make the look different EVERYTIME. The amount of times people thought I was wearing a different suit when the difference was the accents- Miriam you are a godsend! Writing a review for the Chicago location (since they don't have their own yelp page yet) Came across Knot Standard through a friend's recommendation. This was my first custom suit, and learned a lot from my style advisor, Katie Fazio. I came in for the initial consultation not sure whether I would make a purchase that day. Katie was amazing and provided a wonderful experience taking me through all the fabrics, colors, giving me advice on what styles were popular now, and what would fit my wants ultimately. the additional fittings to get the suit the right way, was exactly what i needed. I got a suit, custom shirt, and an overcoat. I am looking forward to being able to wear it. I will definitely look to go to her for future purchases, as the experience was great. For perspective, this review represents about 2.5 years of experience with the NYC Knot Standard (KS) organization. I was introduced to the company through a mutual friend of the company CEO, so despite my negative experience this likely represents "special treatment" One star for a cool setting to be fit for a suit, drinks, food, etc. The rest was unacceptable. I used KS to provide myself and my 7 groomsmen with suits. After the fitting experience, the rest was quite the disaster. While we ended up with good fitting suits, sizing, delivery, and alteration were huge headaches. To save the details, it resulted in (or contributed to) the "style consultant" (Zach) being terminated. I was given $1,000 toward a new suit as compensation for the headache and trouble surrounding my wedding. This was a good move by KS in my opinion. When I went to use this $1,000 I was (let myself be) talked into putting some more money towards a high-end garment - a 2-piece suit made from Loro Piana 170s wool/silk which at KS sells for $2,200. This was my next mistake. Suit came way too tight (common theme with this company). I allowed them to let it out a bit (rather than re-make it). In addition to stretching the limits of the fabric (i.e. it could no longer be let out when I put on a few pounds a year later), the fabric started pilling about 1 year after delivery (image attached). I do not wear suits frequently so this represented about 8 wears, and I babied this thing with hanging and storage. KS response...? Can't do anything about it but will give 50% off another suit. Totally unacceptable for a $2,200 suit that was worn 8 times. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...". I'm done with them. They are totally not unique and there are countless companies that are out there that provide superior product, superior service, and at a lower cost. High end fabric that is poorly constructed into a suit that doesn't fit properly isn't worth the hanger on which it is hung. My issues with KS can be summed up as follows: - "Style consultants" are not tailors. They don't measure or cut fabric, and are only an intermediary between the customer and the tailor - The KS team seems to not understand the difference between "well-fitting" and "tight". Their suits come too tight, are let out to fit, and then have no reserve fabric to be let out any further once needed in the future. - Their routine response to a problem is to convince you to buy more by giving a discount on a future purchase, rather than fix the problem they created or stand by the construction of their product(s). In my case they then upsell to a nicer fabric and get you to put in more money. - There exist NUMEROUS companies in this space that provide superior product, superior service, and at a lower cost. For that price, can go to Martin Greenfield for the full experience. The tailors who travel into NYC from Hong Kong or Saville Row are also great options. read more

Knot Standard - Pilled fabric - after only 8 wears of a $2,200 Loro Piana wool/silk suit. Crazy! - Bespoke Clothing Near Me - New York, New York

Ordered my first suit from them in August 2013 and recently received my order. I went for the Madison Navy suit. I chose to order them based on quality of suit materials (100 per cent wool versus blend) and what they described as their attention to detail, such as heel guard (extra material at heel of pants to fight against wear and tear). I went to my local tailor for measuring and paid about $12 for it. When I told my Knot Standard rep about the cost, he quickly offered to reimburse me for it! Wow, talk about service. About five weeks after my order was placed, it arrived to my home in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The suit wasn't perfect upon arrival - the sleeves were slightly long and the pants were tight. However, after a quick trip back to the tailor it now fits like a glove! I'm very happy with my first suit purchase from Knot Standard, and will likely order from again. (I have my eyes on their custom dress shirts line.) Grade more like 7/8 Private Amenity - What you need to know Generally, a fair comparison would be a bespoke company with another. However, my bespoke suit jacket and pant at super 120 and 280 weight, fits right in with my rotation of Brioni, Dior and Zegna. Go to the storefront, get pinned, and explore the options in design and material. The clothier will cover many of the options - but there's no way to anticipate it all. Keep your cool, my clothes did not fit like I wanted, at first . Fortunately, they aced the re-fit, which at the time I thought they'd miss again. The price for the private amenity was worth it, at the end. At this price point, I have not found a better off the rack or bespoke. Trust in the clothier, voice what you want, and be patient. Since posting my review, I was contacted this week by KS's associate manager of customer experience. If nothing else, the customer service response was prompt and, quite honestly, spot on and appreciated and may be summed-up by KS's latest email, which stated, in part, "I just want to make this right for you." While I wish the front-end experience had gone better overall, the level of attention and response to my summary below has certainly exceeded expectations. I have been very impressed with Knot Standard. I ordered two suits and 4 shirts and I am impressed by the quality of the materials and how well each item fits. Most importantly, I have been impressed with the Knot Standard team and their emphasis on customer satisfaction. I used the webcam to take body measurements, and I didn't realize that it underestimated my chest circumference, so my first suit jacket was too tight. I emailed the sales associate that I was working with and she immediately ordered a replacement jacket, which fits perfectly now. Great suits and awesome customer service! read more

They were attentive and understood exactly what I was looking for and then helped me improve upon it. I was blown away by how quickly I was able to get my suit. It only took 3 weeks! I never imagined I'd have reason to reverse my old review of The Knot Standard. But a note came my way touting a new eCommerce director and a host of procedural overhauls the company made, and along with a score of apologies, the question: would I give them another chance? If I didn't live through it, going (back) in with zero expectation and total skepticism, I would hardly believe the transformation this company underwent. Perhaps there were some growing pains as their concept proved successful, maybe they grew too fast--or perhaps it was just totally mismanaged in the beginning. But, I am thrilled that I gave them another try, not only to right a wrong, but to prove that they do mean business after all--that the high hopes I initially had for this business and its service are a reality. You can have fantastic clothes made to fit you like a glove with all the personal touches of a long-time family tailor right from your computer with a few clicks of a button. I give many kudos to the eCommerce director and his personal handling of my orders. From start to finish, he made sure the job was done correctly, on time, and to 100% satisfaction. It was clear to me that should any imperfection arise, it would be dealt with swiftly, probably without my ever knowing. The attention to detail and customer service are truly unmatched. Bottom line: what I know is that I'll keep going back to these guys any and every time I need new menswear. If you haven't tried them, give it a shot. BE WARE, this business is absolutely atrocious. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. I can vouch for all the other one-star reviews for them, they are truly that awful. My BF bought a Gilt City deal to them for a custom made suit and shirt. Their website boasted a 100% money back guarantee, which at the time sounded great, but in retrospect is the biggest joke ever. We sent them the measurements for the suit and shirt and quickly got a confirmation. They claimed a 3-4 WEEK turnaround. 3 MONTHS later, NOTHING. No suit, no email, no call, NOTHING. We contact THEM, finally get a response, saying oh there was some screw-up in the pipeline, they assured they were RUSHING a re-make of the suit/shirt and it would be PROMPTLY delivered. ANOTHER MONTH goes by and NOTHING. My BF emailed them, called them, did everything to contact them to see what was going on. We hear NOTHING back, not even a bullsh*t email back with another bullsh*t excuse. I can't believe how incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL this company is. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!!! My BF contacted Gilt with the issue and Gilt tried to contact the company and COULD NOT GET A HOLD OF THEM/GET A RESPONSE FROM THEM!! Gilt refunded my BF his money and were amazing in the process. However, I have no clue if Gilt was able to get the money back from this horrible company. I'm not convinced this is an actual company or if they actually have ANYthing to do with making suits/shirts. From my experience I can only assume they are a fake company. Reading all the other one-star reviews further supports my assumption, it just seems like they make up excuses about running out of fabric, a mis-shipment, or some other oops-this-never-happens we're so sorry it's on RUSH order now crap and then make sure they never return your email/phone call. About a year and a half ago, I had a negative first experience with Knot Standard (see details far below). However, about a month ago their Director of Ecommerce reached out and offered to make it right. Since then, I've had a superb experience with Knot Standard and am upgrading my review to 3-stars (an average of my original 1-star and my new 5-star rating). They offered to make me another suit for free if I would consider giving them another chance. So I went through their entire process from start to finish. First I retook my measurements, then placed the order, and waited for it to arrive. During my ordering process, I even emailed and then chatted with their support team to ask a few questions about sizing / fit, and was pleased with their help. When the suit arrived, it was very well crafted, personalized, and fit pretty well. But it needed some tailoring. So I brought it to a local tailor and Knot Standard paid for nearly $80 worth of tailoring, no questions asked. Now the suit fits really well and it's definitely one of the best in my closet. Their Director of Ecommerce said they were under new management, and I could tell the difference from top to bottom. The website, the shipping time, the clothing quality, and their support team were far better than my original order. Based on my experience, I'll definitely put Knot Standard up there in my rotation with Black Lapel and Indochino. ------- Original Review Written: 12/22/2012 I had an absolutely awful experience with Knot Standard and would strongly discourage anyone from buying their products. I regularly use several other online custom clothiers who all offer great products and experiences, but I found Knot Standard to be unprofessional and dishonest, and I would avoid them at all costs. My story: I ordered a custom shirt and a pair of pants, and expected it to be delivered in 3-4 weeks (as advertised on their website). After nearly 4 weeks, it hadn't arrived so I emailed customer service who assured me it would be there within the next 2-3 days (just within the 4 week timeframe). Two weeks later, my order still hadn't arrived and despite sending several more emails and leaving voicemails (there's no way to get an actual person on the phone), I was ready to give up, assuming I had been ripped off, when I happened to be on their website and a little popup chat box appeared. A salesperson person asked if I had any questions about their products, and I explained my order was late. He looked into it, and said they had run out of fabrics and it was coming soon. I explained that I had been unable to get anyone to respond to my calls/emails, and he apologized and said someone would reach out personally with a "gift" to make up for my bad experience. I never heard from anyone at Knot Standard again. Finally, two weeks later (6 weeks total) my clothes arrived, and while the quality appeared quite good, they didn't fit right. I've spent the last 3 weeks trying every method possible to get in touch with someone to arrange a remake/return and no one will return my emails or voicemails. Despite their satisfaction guarantee, Knot Standard has completely ignored me. Finally I gave up and just shipped the clothes back to their NYC headquarters and contacted my credit card company to cancel payment. Perhaps this is the best summary: When I clicked on their "Our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee" link to learn more, it redirected me to a blank white page that in the top left corner simply says: "Something went wrong". Very fitting. If you are like me, completely new to full-custom fittings for Tuxedos and Suits, then I can tell you my first experience was amazing and I highly recommend the Knot Standard. I worked with Kendall Michaelis from beginning to end. Not only is she super personable and knowledgeable of all facets of your Tux/Suit down to the fabric and fitting, but she was very accommodating. Let me clarify, so during my first appointment, I was looking for a blue Tuxedo for my upcoming wedding. We started going over all the details from fabric to inside jacket design all the way down to the buttons. She is amazingly experienced and helped me find a lightweight Tux so I won't melt away in the hot, Florida sun. Once we added up all the bells and whistles, I was a little overwhelmed from with the price; which (at first) threw me off and was worried I would have to go else where. We all know, when it comes to a wedding, the Bride takes precedence, so the groom's tux budget is not nearly in the same ballpark - price wise. I explained my situation and budget with Kendall who was able to find me a quality tuxedo that still feels and looks just as good as the one from origination. I also want to give high compliments to Sarah who works in their NYC-Bloomingdale's location. Sarah helped me with my 2nd fitting and was extraordinary with her sense of detail. Which (I want to point out) I noticed some complaints from other customers about receiving their tux/suit not fitting properly or long lead times. From someone who never has been fitted on such a professional level before, I couldn't disagree more with those upset customers. This is why there are multiple fittings, everyone's body type is different and can't expect a perfect fit with one fitting. And yes it could take time to receive your garments in finished form, but keep in mind, this is completely customized. All good things take time and given my budget and time frame to the fine people at the Knot Standard, not only did they deliver on time, work with my around my budget, but produced an awesome Tuxedo. Save yourself the headache.... if I could use negative stars to rate my experience at Knot Standard I would. I placed my first order with Knot Standard in October of 2014. Five remakes, two trips to their office in New York and one year of my time, I still don't have a finish product that fits well and is made the way I ordered it. I will say everyone at Knot Standard has been very nice, professional and responsive but when it comes to delivering a well fitting suit; your better off shopping off the rack. I would recommend spending a little extra money and working with a real tailor, it will save you from the stress of dealing with this nightmare company. My Experience: I ordered four suits from Knot Standard online 12 months ago (October 2014) I wanted to get one made first and then once the measurements were perfect then get the other three. In January, the first suit came and it was way too big. Knowing that this is more of an art than a science, I called and scheduled a meeting to meet with one of their "professionals" after looking at the suit on me he told me they would make a few changes to the suit with their local tailor and have the suit back to me in a week. A week later the suit came and it was still too big. At this point in late January, I decided to send the suit back and send in a suit from a different company that I liked the fit of to have the measurements copied and basically recreate that suit with the customizations, seemed simple enough and I was assured by the company that it would be a perfect match. In the middle of March, five months after my original order and payment, I received an email from Knot Standard asking me how my suit fit, which I had not received. After explaining that to them they rush delivered it for the following week. The next week, I received my third remake and the jacket was so small that I couldn't even get it on. Again I called knot standard and was convinced to schedule a meeting to go in and this time meet with their "master tailor." He took measurements of the suit that was sent to me, my body and the suit that I was wearing and told me that I would have my suits rushed and they would arrive in three weeks. When I received the 4th rendition of my suit once again to my disappointment they did not fit. They were too tight in the arms and back causing them to be uncomfortable and wrinkle all the way up he arm. I took the suits to a highly recommended tailor and they said it would cost $125 per jacket to make the necessary changes for the jacket before I could really get a feel for the fit. I had the tailor make the changes to the jacket and once we were able to actually get the jacket on we realized that the sleeves were different lengths. I called my contact at Knot Standard and explained the situation. I was informed that the "master tailor" was fired from the company and they were being replaced. I was asked to send it the altered jacket and the pants and they would recreate the suit and fix the sleeve lengths and once again rush my order. Five weeks after mailing my suit in I received an email from my contact informing me that they "forgot to place my order" and it would be an additional 4 weeks. At this point I switched people I was dealing with at Knot Standard and started the process over. I sent in a complete suit to have recreated and six weeks later I received one of the suits. Overall the fit was good, however some of the customizations were wrong and I needed some changes made to the pants. I took the pants to my tailor, he made a few adjustments and we were all set. I sent the adjustments to my contact and asked him to begin making my three other suits. This week 2 of the 3 suits arrived and once again there were errors. The measurements in the crotch of the pants were different from suit to suit and were both different from the original pants I submitted. The color and quality of the wool on the navy suit was completely different from the original order and the embroidery on the jackets was wrong. read more

I was approached by a sales rep from Astor & Black to try out one of Knot Standards packages, because she was moving over to KS. I had been happy with her, and extremely satisfied with Astor & Black. The A&B suits were great, and I have never received compliments like I have when wearing an A&B suit. Unfortunately, A&B is now defunct, having gone into bankruptcy. I was assured by the sales rep that the quality and service provided by KS was identical, if not superior, to A&B, and that because she already had my measurements, that all I needed to do was to pick out fabrics, linings, and etc. She came in with the books, and I selected my usual: a package of 3 suits and 4 shirts. Well, when the suits arrived, I was shocked. The fabrics felt cheap, the pants were about 5 sizes too big in the waist, and none of the "personalized touches" (e.g., name stiched into the lining) were present. The shirts looked as if they were bought from a Syms bankruptcy sale, and were not even wearable. (and again, no personalization). In short, completely unusable. I sent everything back, and have been searching for a suitable replacement to A&B ever since. read more
