My next door neighbor was having her leaves taken care of by Knight Property Services today, mainly by means of leaf-blowers. I glanced out my back door and saw that one of the crew members was on my lawn blowing the leaves that were caught in the chainlink fence, back into her lawn. I wouldn't have a problem with this in the least bit, but this guy was stepping directly on our newly planted fall plants, and also snapped a stake in half that we have holding our sump pump hose in place. I headed out there and let the guy know that we just planted those plants that he is walking on, and that he snapped a stake holding our sump pump hose. He was very nice and very apologetic and said he didn't realize that he was doing that. I kindly asked him if he could please just be careful. He said he would and continued leaf blowing. When he headed over to the other side of the fence, the 'person in charge' (wearing a bandana over his mouth and nose) must have seen the interaction or was told about the interaction. I then saw this 'person in charge,' from what truly appeared to be, purposefully blowing leaves back into my freshly raked yard. I went out again and attempted to get the attention of this 'person in charge' by yelling over the leaf blower. This guy, looked at me, and then turned his back to me, and continued blowing. After a few more attempts to get his attention, he turned to me and said, stop yelling over my shoulder. I told him that clearly he could hear my five attempts to get his attention, and then I proceeded to tell him that I would really appreciate him having some respect for people's property and not blowing the leaves into my yard that was clearly JUST raked. He said, "I fucking have respect for people's property, and I'll come around and get to those leaves afterwards."
With that response, and his actions, it is clear that he does not have respect for people, for property, and / or for himself, his crew, and / or his business. There is a lot of competition out there in the landscaping business to behave this way. I would steer clear, for sure.... read more
