On Friday, January 16, 2026, around 9:00 a.m., I visited the KMS Tools store in west Edmonton(New Opening). While purchasing several tools, I asked at checkout about a product I had bought from this store about two months ago that has an issue. I wanted to know whether an exchange or a paid upgrade would be possible. The staff member responded by saying, "Unfortunately, the person who handles customer service is not here today." That was the only explanation I was given. I work in the trades and regularly purchase tools from KMS Tools. This was actually the first time I have ever asked about a defective product, so this response was quite surprising. There are two reasons this experience was disappointing. First, the customer service system itself. It appears that whether a customer can receive service depends entirely on whether a specific person happens to be working that day. If that person is not present, customer service simply is not available. Since I have only ever made purchases here before, I was not aware of this type of system, but after experiencing it, I felt it was worth sharing. Second, the way the situation was handled at checkout. I was only told that the customer service person was not available "today." No additional information was offered--such as when I could return, what time would be appropriate, or which day I could speak with the right person. Being told only that it could not be done, without any guidance, was disappointing from a customer service standpoint. Overall, I am sharing this experience to highlight that customer service at KMS Tools unfortunately appears to depend on luck--if the right person is available, you receive support; if not, customer service is simply unavailable. read more

staff were not educated in products. Asked about specs for tools and was told "I'll let you look that up yourself partner". When checking out chip in card was showing error cashier was extremely rude when we asked to try again. Asked if we could use another machine rolled her eyes told us to come back with another card. Overall service terrible. read more

I bought a Milwaukee M18 PackOut light, & t battery is extremely hard to take out. I called them and they said it was ok I return it a few days after t 14 day return it, when I did they wouldn't return it! Also, Over 2 weeks to ship! read more

KMS Tools carries a large selection of tools that a lot of the big box stores often do not have and they are reasonably priced. I chose to shop here to support Canadian business and I have purchased a large number of tools from them. Recently I purchased a Bosch Router from them along with a number of other woodworking tools. I did not have the opportunity to use it right away due to being away for work and when I was able to I found that it wouldn't turn on. I don't live close to where the store is and with COVID being an issue I did not get back to the store until after a month. The clerk at the store was happy to get a replacement tool for me and was processing my return when she was told by another member of the staff as well as the manager that items not returned within 30 days would not be accepted. I explained my situation and said that the router didn't work right out of the box. The staff told me it didn't matter, store policy did not accept returns after 30 days and that I had to take the router to a tool repair business and gave me a piece of paper with their address. Due to a backlog of work it will be another 6 weeks before I will either get my router repaired or replaced. Due to the poor customer service at KMS Tools I will no longer shop there, I will either shop at the box stores or I will shop online rather than waste my time dealing with a store that doesn't value it's customers. read more

They had the best prices I could find anywhere. It wss a little out of my way but well worth the drive. Everyone I spoke to were very friendly and helpful. I will be going back there for all of my tool needs. read more

I love KMS. I've bought a few things there over the years. What's great is that they carry a wide variety of items and even hard-to find things, and yet the prices are very good. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Excellent selection of woodworking and pneumatic tools. Wide range of welding stuff -- from low budget to high-end. The new location in the west end is a little less convenient, but it's bigger. I think once they get all settled-in and organized it will be great. read more
