June 2026 I retired in December 2025 and decided to try golf. My wife and I never played before so we wanted to develop good habits before we made an attempt at golf. Coach Kelly was highly recommended by many of my friends. Consistently, they described him as chill, laid back and a great teacher. My wife and I booked a private session with him. We met at his house and he has an indoor golf simulator. On session one, we worked on grip, hip rotation and hinge. On session two (3 weeks later), Coach Kelly worked with our rotation, power shift in the hips and our follow through on the swing. From this point on, we will take individual lessons with him. We've incorporated everything he taught us and are making micro improvements as we continue our golf journey. Scheduling was simple. Prices very reasonable. And that man is Hawaiian! This review is long overdue! Coach Kelly is an amazing coach and all around one of the nicest people I've ever met. My daughter was a complete beginner that wanted to make it on her girls high school golf team. When she first came to him the summer leading up to her junior year, she didn't even know how to properly hold a golf club. By the end of her senior year she was captain, made it to BVAL as a solo player and fell in love with the sport. Coach Kelly was so patient with her, encouraged her and because of his knowledge and teaching style allowed her to grow so much in such a short time. Kelly is a great coach and my golf game has improved significantly after only 4 or 5 lessons with him. I have taken lessons from others in the past, including with $150/hour coaches at fancy golf clubs, but I never really noticed any real changes in my game after those lessons. Kelly offers great tips and pointers without asking you to think about too many different things at one time. After each lesson, he emails over drills so I can go to the range and practice what we worked on during the lesson. I also love his golf studio--you won't find the technology he has at most golf clubs. It's a lot of fun to take what I've learned in the first part of the lesson and apply it while playing Pebble Beach or Olympic Club on his simulator during the second half of the lesson. All I can say is wow! I was looking for a local golf instructor to help me with my game as I recently started getting into it and was completely inconsistent with my hitting abilities. After meeting with Kelly and seeing his golf studio I new he could help me. And he sure did. He immediately pointed out a few simple things to improve my swing and it helped immensely. I began seeing Kelly regularly and I have improved every time I see him. I even aced a hole on a 125 yd par 3 just after a couple lessons. What can I say, he is a true professional. I've found Coach Kelly to be positive, enthusiastic, supporting, trusting, focused, goal-oriented and extremely knowledgable of the game. Forget being a great guy, which he is, but I am much more interested in what a great teacher he is. As an "old dog" it is hard to teach me swing improvements with brooms and buckets so Kelly tailors his approach for me with his cool video equipment, personal demonstrations and great/concise golf language skills that help me see what I am doing wrong, and what I need to do to improve my swing. After the Ist lesson I had an immediate positive improvement, and am looking forward to my next live on-course test of my second lesson. read more

During this pandemic I decided to pick up golf. I knew that I didn't want to just buy clubs, and go out there to hit balls not knowing what to do. I did my research and found the gem that Coach Kelly is. He had the patience to work with someone brand new to the sport. Kelly is the man. I met Kelly probably 20+ years ago when he was an instructor at ST. Although I never took lessons from him there, he still knew my name and would always say hi. So when I was looking for a local instructor this year and saw his name pop up, I had to give him a call. Kelly had been great working with me in all facets of my game. His studio is clean, organized, and just plain awesome. He can measure all the necessary parts of the swing: spin rate, launch angle, swing speed, etc. He even has software to hit into a screen which simulates all the famous holes in golf. Best local instruction I have found in the Bay Area! Coach Kelly has guided me through a few months of lessons so far and without question he has identified areas in my game that I didn't immediately recognize as being a problem. From my first lesson, he saw grip, stance, and balance issues. He has helped me improve my ability to get over to my left side and fully release the club. I have taken many, many, lessons from a number of other instructors and have never received such detailed instruction as I have with Coach Kelly. I have been taking lessons from Coach Kelly for about 3 years now. He is both friendly and a great instructor. His lessons are helpful and his swing tips are easy to put into practice.
