Prompt service. I just drop in and finished in 20 minutes. Everything goes smoothly. I even got some nice suggestions on how to keep rats out. Will come back. read more

Chad was very knowledgable and super friendly. Failed my first test due to disconnecting my battery recently and guided me on what to do for the next test. It was a great change of pace compared to the previous places I've been in San Diego. Also the price is great with a discount if you're a triple A member! Gladly would recommend to my friends. read more

Talk about quick and easy! I was in and out in 15 minutes. Staff is friendly and parking is plentiful. Highly recommend in terms of convenience and value. read more

These folks are consistently great. Very pleasant, keep you informed, and just an overall good experience.

Great service. From our telephone call to book an appointment, we received friendly and welcoming service. The technician Chad is professional - takes great care of the vehicle and runs a five star operation. "Miss Debbie" was there to greet us on arrival and was friendly and efficient. We checked out other smog shops before finding this one. Highly recommend this business. They are the best!! read more

Super fast, friendly service, and clean waiting area. I came here after trying to get my "new" car title registered in my name at AAA - their service bay happened to be open and empty. How opportune!! I was in and out in 15 minutes, and they gave me a $10 AAA discount I wasn't even aware of! 5 stars for sure! read more

Km Test Only - Waiting area. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Del Mar, California

I went here because my old standby didn't make it through COVID :(. I was pleasantly surprised that the service was wonderful and I was in and out for my smog check in record time. Great service. read more

Highly recommended. Located right next door to 7-11 on the corner of Del Mar Heights and Mango Drive. I was in and out in 15 minutes! Walked in. No line! Use the coupon for 10 bucks off. Not much else to say with this one. :) read more

The fastest, easiest smog check I've ever had done. Download their coupon, or show your AAA card for $10 off. Easy, breezy!

I procrastinated my smog check lol so I was hoping to find one that was quick and open after 5pm. I found this place and it was done really quickly and went well. Also, the person who helped me was very nice and professional. Overall, I am very happy with this place and would recommend for smog checks. read more

Quick , professional and easy. Reasonably priced too! Only place I would go to get a SMOG check done

Needed a quick smog and they were the perfect solution. In n out with a certificate for a reasonable fee. Plus they were nice! Thanks.

After reading the great reviews decided to stop in for my smog check. I arrived at about 6:35pm and was driving out at 6:45pm. Rod was awesome, especially so close to closing. Best of all, with their online coupon the overall price was $49! Down the street at the Highlands they quoted me $63 & a 45 minute wait. read more

So easy to come in and get tested, no trouble getting all the info uploaded to DMV, will be visiting again

Two stars only because of the price. Every other aspect of the experience is negative. The guy running the place is a moron. I think the exhaust fumes have killed too many brain cells. Check your paperwork when you pay. He billed me for someone else's car. Check for left over tools in the engine bay. I now have a new set of clamps and screwdriver. And make sure to get a receipt confirming that the DMV in Sacramento received a passing smog check. After trying to renew my registration online, I found that the test results were not transmitted. Big fail all around. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I called beforehand to find out the cost and if I needed to make an appointment. A nice gentleman named Rod answered the phone and I immediately could tell this was the place for me! He reminded me of my Dad. :) He was professional and kind on the phone. When I arrived, he was just as professional in person and got me in and out quickly even with a quickly forming line of customers. He also played good music in his garage, so that's an added bonus while you wait. I think the word is out that this is the place to go because as it neared the lunch hour it got pretty busy. I also got a AAA $10 off discount as well which is an extra bonus. As a woman, it's always nice to find a place that does work on your car that you can trust and you don't feel like they will take advantage of you. Rod is the best and I will recommend to all my friends that this is the place to go for a smog check! read more

To eb clearer, I came here to get my car smogged. You know, when you get your registration in the mail and all of a sudden you realize they want a smog cert also? Great place to go! read more

I love this place. Very nice person that smogs your car. Fast, professional service every time.

I was referred to KM via phone by a nice lady at Sorrento Valley Automotive, who said that they didn't do smog checks even though their Yelp page has them listed as so. I was skeptical when I first called KM because the man who answered the phone was a bit gruff. He told me there were not appointments and checks were done on a "first come, first served" basis and that the cost was $59. He seemed a little annoyed when I asked if that was the base cost or total including DMV filing and such, but assured me that it was the total. It sounded a bit high but it was conveniently located near my work and it was nearing my lunch hour. I found a $10 off coupon online and decided to go for it. When I arrived at the shop, which was on the NE corner of Del Mar Heights & Mango, I was helped immediately. Although Jim grumbled at me for not having my DMV renewal form (whoops), he looked up my info on his computer and went right to work. While he was performing the check, I noticed a large doggie bed and blanket, chew toys, a medium link chain, and a fan. I assumed the dog was a medium or large breed with long or thick hair. After Jim was done and doing my paperwork 15 minutes later, he was much more personable and told me a funny story about another customer with a Miata. I asked where the dog was and found out "big grumpy Jim" had a little chihuahua named Chico LOL! I was out the door within 20 minutes with a smile on my face :) read more

Now I know where to go for smog tests. I'm always expecting and prepared to deal with toughguy know-it-all mechanics, but when I met the guy today, I was actually greeted...pleasantly! And they didn't charge me extra because my vehicle is a diesel, or because it's a high-top Sprinter van, or because it's a converted RV. The only surprises were positive - both in terms of service and a very reasonable $59 charge. I will bring all of my cars to get smogged and only go here from now on. read more

Just got my smog test done here. No appointment needed, very fast and efficient. It literally took the time I walked to Starbucks and back. The guy really knows his stuff and gave me some great free advice - my "homework assignment " apparently! He'd immediately spotted that rats had entered my engine because of marks on my wheels! Seriously! He explained how to get rid of them (Bounce sheets!) and exactly what I needed to do. So although I left freaked out (by the rats) I'm really glad I came. Definitely recommend. read more

Fast and efficient smog and star testing. Each car takes around 10-15 minutes. I was in and out in a jiffy with both of my cars. What more can you ask for? I believe KM is testing only - no repair services if your car fails inspection. I'll come back in 2 years when I up for re-testing. read more

Needed a smog and stopped in. I was helped right away. Gentleman with the beard was friendly and fast. Easy to find and cool waiting area. Will come back for my smog needs. Thanks 5 stars!! read more

So glad to find this star certified smog check station. Technician Rod was very professional and helpful. The fees were also reasonable. Both are reasons why I will be returning to this business. The smog check station we used to go to for the past several years is just 1 exit away from interstate 5 highway, but latest new owner has completely replaced the crew (old crew was professional and helpful like Rod at KM ) and hiked up the prices almost 2x (!) and charge for every smog check regardless of pass or fail. read more

Jim is awesome. He did my smog very quickly and even alerted me that rats were nesting under my hood. He told me how to get rid of them and deter them so they won't come back. He even cleaned the oxidation off my headlights! I can't recommend him enough. read more

The beauty of this place is they do one thing, and they do it effectively, efficiently, and economically. No appointment needed. Done in 15 minutes. Check and check! read more

I needed a quick smog check. It was busy at 3:00 pm but he got the task done in 15 minutes. The only thing holding this place back are the couches that smell like a carnival. I went next door to the 7-eleven and got a slurpeee. My car was ready quicker than I could give myself brain freeze. It's $59 But get the coupon for $10 off :) http://m.smogtips.com/business_detail.cfm?urlname=kmtestonly read more

Did a Yelp search for a certified star smog center. It's next to the gas station at 7-eleven. I came around 11am and was out of there in 15 minutes! I was pleasantly surprised and completely happy about my experience here. I don't usually write reviews, but if you're in the Del Mar or Carmel valley area, this is a must-go to place. The kind man who did my smog test (I don't remember his name) even cleaned up my lights because they were foggy from the many years I drove my car. read more

Jim is fast and funny, and if you've got time, say hi to Chico his singing Chihuahua! Just bring Jim your smog test DMV paper (with a bar code he scans) and he gets to work. Grab a snack and a drink at the adjoining 7-11 and when you're done, chances are he will be too! If you have a question about whether or not your car will pass (for example, if you have a check engine light on) ask first. He'll let you know what's up, and save you the $$ running a smog test that you'll fail anyway. Oh! And you can find $10 off coupons online, with the coupon it's $49. (Coupon: http://www.smogtips.com/business_detail.cfm?VendorID=3708) Also, if you need to do DMV services, save time and do it through AAA. If you have AAA they'll save you a lot of time and hassle at the DMV office and do it for you. There is a AAA office right next to Jim's smog test center, that's how I found him! read more

One room, one man garage, dedicated solely to $49 (print the $10 off coupon from company website) SMOG checks. Location: adjacent to the gas station on Del Mar Heights Rd and Mango, next to 7-11. The best way to get there is to head West on Del Mar Heights Rd from the 5, hang a right on Mango Dr (light), right in the second drive way. Jim is the epitome of the average working Joe - straight shooter, tell it like it is, and a master of his trade. Walk up to the garage, fill out a sheet of paper, BRING YOUR DMV REGISTRATION RENEWAL NOTICE, hand over the keys and the check is done in under 20 minutes. It would be done sooner if the DMV would process the paper work as fast as it takes Jim to administer the test; but that's out of our hands. A quick, no nonsense SMOG check and $10 off coupon aren't even the best part of this place. There's seating!! And not just any seats... 2 couches that look like they were salvaged from the front of someone's lawn. You know, the several shades of brown, with flower print, and dark wood lining. They sit on either side of the garage. Awesome touch... seriously. If lounging in re-purposed furniture isn't your thing, fear not! There is a 7-11 next door... go get yourself that cherry Slurpee you earned for doing your California duty and getting your car SMOG checked before the renewal is late. read more

I came in the day before my registration was due. There was one car in front of us. he told me 15-20 minutes and that was accurate. We were out of there within half an hour and got a $10 discount for Auto Club members. Auto Club is in the adjacent shopping center so we went directly there and went home with the registration tags, the entire process took less than an hour. If you're not an auto club member, you can print a coupon here: http://smogtips.com/business_detail.cfm?VendorID=3708 read more

Quick, easy, and efficient. Very friendly staff and they offer a AAA discount as well. I'll be returning in the future!

Great experience. I walked in, filled out my paperwork, set it on desk and asked if it was ok if I came back in 30. Technician said no problem. Walked down the hill to taco shop for a little breakfast burrito. By the time I walked back up, my car was being pulled in garage. 12 minutes later, we were done. $49 total w AAA. AAA is also located next to the taco shop, so you can complete your registration all at once. read more

Quick and easy. At the time, they were only able to do "newer" cars (2000 and newer), so no problem here. The guy was cool and friendly, and everything was submitted to the DMV electronically right on the spot. Also, the guy who helped me alerted me to smogtips.com. At time of writing, there is a $10 coupon for K M at http://www.smogtips.com/del-mar.cfm. I just had to bring it up on my smartphone. Done. read more

Been coming here for years. Went today without appointment - was in and out within 15 minutes. Now I remember why I come here. Friendly guy, busy lot makes parking tough, and old school waiting area. It's all charming, but the service is awesome. Thanks read more

I was actually in a very good mood when I came here to get my smog check. There was one car in front of me so I parked in front of the building thinking I'll move my car later and wait in the car while he is working on the other car. I walked in, saw the paperwork on a clip board, and proceeded to fill it out. The one tech came up to me and said, you need to move your car and I said, sure that's fine. I said when you're done, I'll be in my car can you come get me? He said that is unacceptable, I don't do business like that. The client that was in the lobby gave me the look like I can't believe he just said that. I gave her the same look back. Wow! What is unacceptable sir? You could've told me in a nice way, what you preferred. I could've waited in the lobby on your 40 year old couch (I have nothing against the couch). I would've been happy to! A simple greeting when you saw me or maybe even a smile would've been nice. It pays to be nice to people! Don't be such a Scrooge especially if you are running a business. If life is that bad, maybe it's time for you to retire because obviously you are not happy and you don't need to infect people with that bad aura and attitude. Take a class on being nice to people you grumpy old man! read more

Pulled up to the gate to get a smog test, and was greeted with "YOU CANT PARK THERE!!" I simply replied "I don't want to park here, I came to get a smog check." And quickly was told to go park somewhere else because "it was too busy and too much bullsh*t going on around the gas station" for him to open the chain at that moment... After filling out the paper work as requested I was bombarded with extremely rude remarks and horrible customer service. In the end I was told that "we are done here" as he pulls my information that I had just finished filling out and he ripped it up as he walked to the back and hid. My girlfriend and I looked at each other in disbelief as we walked out. Will NEVER give this station business again. Straight A**hole. My girlfriend won't even buy gas there anymore even though they're not associated. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Found this place courtesy of a AAA referral. It was the most efficient and easy smog process I have ever been through. Dropped car off, walked to get food that I had ordered, came back, car was finished. To the guy working today, thanks again! read more

Disappointing. Went here a few months back. Based on yelp reviews I chose this place but my experience was less than 5 stars. Went in on my lunch hour and was told they could not see me. Even though there was only one car in front of me. They wanted me to come back 3 hours later or another day. I cant understand a business not providing their services advertised during normal business hours. My time is very valuable and any business that doesn't respect that loses me as a customer. read more

Passed. Thanks to fellow Yelper David P. I got a $10 off coupon. Original quote is $59 out the door with certificate and everything. So I left paying $49 for my 2004 Honda Pilot over 200k. Jim finished the check in less than 15 mins. He was very friendly and definitely the most real person I've met thus far. He even let me keep my sleeping baby in the car while he did the check. Needless to say, this is the place to go if you're in the area. read more
