He fixed it in under five minutes and refused to charge or even submit it for a warrantee payment from Martin. The next time I brought it in was to lower the action. When I returned to pick up the guitar, I brought the quoted amount in cash. At that point, I was told I needed to pay an additional $20 for tax, which was added on top of the original quote. While I understand that sales tax is standard, it would have been helpful to know upfront that the quoted price did not include tax--especially since the majority of the cost was labor. The quality of the work itself was good, and I have no complaints about the actual repair. However, the unexpected additional charge left a negative impression. Clear, all-inclusive estimates go a long way toward building trust and keeping customers returning.
