The whole process was speedy and painless, and the proprietor was cheerful and helpful.

These guys are awesome!…read more They can help you in your time of need and NOT charge you an arm or a leg for the data recovery if they don't have to. They were very honest and up front as to what to expect when what my damaged HD would require and what you might expect if you took it to one of the competitors who might be offering a "cowboy" job. If your data is precious and your backup strategy inadequate, these are the guys to take your non-responsive hard drive to when you have to re-claim your data. The clean-room is a bit sketchy (no double door, no gasket around the door, etc.) but they have the tools to diagnose your problem and determine the best course of action and they know their limits when they have to broker the job to a uber-high-end facility. Sadly, since my backup strategy now includes mirrored RAIDs and offsite backups, I'll no longer need a place like this, unless my computer dies AND my RAID dies AND my offsite backup gets eaten, or stolen or abducted by aliens. ****** Edit 2010-11-25 I decided to bite the bullet and give them my drive to send to the uber facility for recovery. Ballpark quote was verbally given as "flat $2000-2500 + tax". Once it gets recovered, I'll post another edit.

Little did I know that it only caused more damage than good. Gordon was able to retrieve 95% (100% in my opinion because I take multiple photos of 1 subject) of my data. He gave me a detailed report on what happened to my hard drive, how he will retrieve it, where he will get the parts, how long it will take, and the estimate of how much it will cost me. Although the quote is still high for me (because I am starting out in my career and this is not something that I normally deal with), the final quote is still lower compared to other data recovery shops. He gave me updates on the status of my data recovery and there were no hidden fees that got added on my final price. Overall, Gordon is professional and great at what he does. All the best in your business, Gordon! Sincerely, Regine

My laptop couldn't have picked a worse time to conk out on me…read more Tabs wouldn't open and then after cleaning up my browsing history, etc. and running a couple of updates it just froze on me. Called Platinum after checking out local reviews and went to see Sam. He was able to fix everything plus in a few hours. No "two weeks it will be ready" story. All work done on premises and very reasonable. So good that I brought my new phone in the next day. Factory reset nightmare. Sat and chatted with Sam while he cleaned it up and even set it up to good to go mode. He didn't have to do that but he did. Honorable man and and an absolutely lovely guy as well. A bit of a novel, I know but I'm hoping I will save a few people from the "Where do i go?" phase. Just go see Sam

Johnny at Direct Cell was amazing!!! I don't write reviews normally but he definitely deserves one…read more I dropped my iPhone XR in water the night before and my SIM card was not working. So the next day I rushed in 1 hr before he closed. He had 2 other phone to work on and we gave him my wife's old iPhone 6+ to replace the battery for $60. He told me my phone will be $25 for a cleaning and if that doesn't work $70 to replace the SIM card port. I foolishly told him I would bring it back in 2 days. We then went to wait in the mall while my wife's battery was being replace. I check a repair shop there and they carelessly ripped open my phone and told me $225 to fix my phone and then went to another stupid used iPhone sales and repair shop in the mall and they told me my phone was destroyed and it would cost $519 to replace it. Obviously I didn't choose any of those options. Johnny called us back 30 min later letting us know my wife's phone was finished. We went there and I told him I wanted him to fix my XR after all. He opened it up very very carefully and showed me exactly what the problems were. He showed me where the water inside can be seen. He stayed after store hours with me and fixed it in 15 minutes. He ended up charging me only $25 for the cleaning and my phone works as good as new. I offered a $5 tip but he refused and simply asked for a good review. I gladly agreed!! Johnny at Direct cell is kind, honest, knowledgeable, definitely in my opinion skilled and reliable. Don't hesitate to take you phone for repair here. Thanks again Johnny, you saved me $200-$400!!

He told me last night, at the store, that my reconnection could not be done from the store, so he walked me through the process, quickly, on the phone, tonight. He suggested that I wait a wee while before trying things - the system may have to reboot itself... usually within a few hours / overnight. Before haning up, Aidan told me to call him if I have any other issues. Great customer service!
