The rooms are somewhat small so check out the capacity for the amount of kids you're catering for. I'm not sure if they have bigger rooms as two I saw were the same size but on the smaller end. Also the pipes weren't working and the sinks smelled really bad. The highlight of the experience was after when they came and got the kids and started the experiments. For this part the kids did about four different experiments and they had so much fun learning and experimenting. It can get a little chaotic and I wished they had separate rooms to do the experiments as there were two other sets of experiments going on and it was just loud and the guy had to be shouting a lot. Overall the kids loved it and they even got to play with other random stuff that was not apart of the experiments that are in the area. They were also given lab coats and eyewear and they looked like real scientists which they loved. The experiments were very kid friendly and they got to bring home some of their work, like slime and fake snow. Without the party kids can come in and enjoy the room and do different experiments which I was told there are different packages of what you'd want your kids to do. The bathrooms were messy and toilet paper was all around on the wet floor. So that for me is a let down as we have young kids and would want to ensure they have somewhere clean to use. Imagine trying to hold the attention of over a dozen children and then safely guiding them through the experiments. Great job! I'm pretty sure the adults had a lot of fun as well assisting with making slime, creating a volcano, and a mini bottle rocket. A separate room was also provided for the pizza party (bring your own) and cake. Parents can also rent by the hour open lab time. He had the most amazing time! You walk in and everyone is very friendly and they explain to you how everything works. They give you safety glasses and a really cute white coat, you also get a binder and there are different workstations to do the experiments named after scientists. The binder is filled with all of the experiments that you can do and where they are located, super simple, super easy to understand. They tell you which experiments are the favorites so that you don't have to search. We were there for an hour I did not have enough time, next time we'll go back for longer! Hard, hard work: 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, 10k run. Every SINGLE DAY. When I became tired, I relied on the plentiful recreational equipment: table tennis tables, pool tables, basketball courts (indoors and outdoors), racquetball courts, and swimming pools. Inspired by Antonio Banderas, I also enrolled in LPAP dance classes and unleashed my sexy side. But I never stopped working out. NEVER. When my legs got tired, the Rec had hot showers and gym mats for stretching. Water fountains, vending machines, and even kombucha are readily available for recovery. In the summer months, the pools are a great reprieve. And as always, the equipment, towels, and facilities are squeaky clean. If you come to the Rec every day for four years, I guarantee you will see results. You may go bald. You may become a superhero. You might get your Nod bod. And you will certainly feel infinitely healthier than all the people couch potato-ing in their dorms.

While it is not the biggest gym I've ever seen (especially when compared to those gyms at UT Austin), it does have really nice facilities and really cool people! If you are a student at Rice, your membership here is included in your tuition. If you are a community member, it will be really difficult to get a full membership here,but you can always ask someone to guest pass you in! The equipment here are pretty new and complete. Whether you are a pro/bro weight lifter or a newbie who just wanna gain a bit more muscle, you will feel right at home. With 2 basketball courts and a lot of racquetball/squash courts, you can also get your fair share of "balling" action here. The only problem with the rec is its "rush hour" aka 5-6PM every weekday. I guess everyone on campus all have the exact same idea to work out right before dinner (... this problem is especially bad after new years or at the beginning of the semester, since people seem to set "resolutions" and whatnot), and the rec can get really packed. So my tip is definitely avoid that hour and come at night or early afternoon! Overall, rec is a fun place and I love working here. Woohoo.
