Memorial Park is my best 3 mile walk spot…read more I previously, before COVID I walked and ran 1-2 times a week. After COVID I only came here 1-3 times a year. My plan is to get back to walking weekly and start being able to run again. I really like the newest version of the walking areas.

I LOVE Memorial Park!!! I started running back in 2019 and this quickly became my go-to spot for my…read moreweekly runs. The running trail is roughly 3 miles and it's a LOOP! Plus, it doesn't cut through any roads (so no stopping at traffic lights or fear of getting hit by a car) AND bikes are not allowed!! This makes it the perfect place for runners to get lost in their thoughts while getting 3 miles in - at least, that's what I like to do. Haha! Recently, they did a bunch of restoration work and have opened up a cute little pond area along with more trails to explore. These are great for walking and getting to enjoy nature without having to leave the city. Additionally, they've added a LOT more parking which is nice, however it's not free. Even the old lot that I always used to park at (the parking lot located in front of the outdoor pool) now requires you to pay. To avoid this, you can park at the lot next to the baseball fields (what I usually do), but it's almost always full. You can also park at the church behind the fields, just as long as they're not having a service at that time. The tennis courts also have some parking, but that's also usually full. If you're brave enough, you can try to parallel park on some of the streets that go through the park.... But I find that to be pretty risky with all the constant movement occurring everywhere. If you're looking to enjoy some nature without having to drive super far, definitely consider coming out here! Bring some friends, a picnic or go for a walk/run. There's something for everyone here!

Hard, hard work: 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, 10k run. Every SINGLE DAY. When I became tired, I relied on the plentiful recreational equipment: table tennis tables, pool tables, basketball courts (indoors and outdoors), racquetball courts, and swimming pools. Inspired by Antonio Banderas, I also enrolled in LPAP dance classes and unleashed my sexy side. But I never stopped working out. NEVER. When my legs got tired, the Rec had hot showers and gym mats for stretching. Water fountains, vending machines, and even kombucha are readily available for recovery. In the summer months, the pools are a great reprieve. And as always, the equipment, towels, and facilities are squeaky clean. If you come to the Rec every day for four years, I guarantee you will see results. You may go bald. You may become a superhero. You might get your Nod bod. And you will certainly feel infinitely healthier than all the people couch potato-ing in their dorms.

I can attest that there are many heavy objects available for lifting in the weight room (but actually, really nice machines/barbells/dumbbells/two squat racks). Note- it's definitely the most busy here before mealtimes, and especially immediately before and after dinner. Try to come in the morning, early afternoon, or during mealtimes if you're like me and don't like people :)

And the fact that it's less than ten minutes from home makes it even better. This is truly a perfect spot for young children--everything is set up to spark curiosity while still being age-appropriate and safe. After our very first visit, my daughter completely fell in love and absolutely was not ready to leave. That alone told me everything I needed to know. We decided to become members shortly after, and honestly, it was a great choice. The value, the experience, and the joy it brings her make it 100% worth it. Highly recommend for parents looking for something fun and educational. We'll definitely be back--again and again.

My husband and I are both in STEM careers - so any chance we get, we're trying to introduce our daughters to STEM activities and this place did not disappoint. The staff were very kind and welcoming. They had the girls put on their lab coats and safety glasses, explained the science lab rules and helped clean up our messes as we moved through the stations. We got to do so many activities and experiments and you also got to take your slime/product home after. I will say the time goes very fast so you do have to be quick if you want to try out more of the experiments. This place can also host birthday parties & field trips which I thought was so neat!

The binder is filled with all of the experiments that you can do and where they are located, super simple, super easy to understand. They tell you which experiments are the favorites so that you don't have to search. We were there for an hour I did not have enough time, next time we'll go back for longer! My grandson was so excited doing these experiments, he had so much fun. It's a really great introduction to science as well. I highly, highly recommend this place, it's so great!
