There was no damaged furniture to remove and he was in and out in a few hours. He left some fans and came back to pick them up a few days later. At that time, I asked him what the bill would be. I was trying to determine how much of my insurance payment would be left for renovations after his fee. He couldnt give me an exact number, but was confident that it would be under $2k. He again noted how little work he needed to do. An entire month passes, and my insurance company still hasnt received the bill from ServPro. And wont pay me until they get the invoice. We call Leon multiple times in 2 weeks and never get a response. Our insurance adjuster suggests that she call ServPro to get a resolution. Within a few hours someone calls me from ServPro. They have NO clue about my job. Dont know my name, my address or the work done for me. But they will look into it. A few days later I get a bill for $3,800. Double the price Leon gave me. And basically tell us to pay it and that Leon doesnt do the billing. Stay clear of these guys - classic scam.

EVERY SINGLE CONTRACTOR in the area is either not answering the phone or is too busy. You WISH you had a sister and/or brother in the Mitigation / Remediation Business - who not only cared about you - but owed you as if you donated your kidneys to them. THIS IS WHO AGNES AND TOM ARE. They treat you like family - in the worst of circumstances they come to the rescue with the right knowledge, the right equipment, the right advice, and more. If there was another way to make it any more clear how amazing these 2 in terms of thorough and professional and immaculate work not to mention being lovely people -- I would write that too. Allan Industries was recommended by my insurance company and I was nervous at first due to the 1 star review. Well, I had to write a review because of that. The job they did cleaning my house was EXCELLENT. I am a clean freak and I check all nooks, corners, under and over everything. They cleaned the soot from my home better than I would have thought any company could have done. Everyone who was part of the project was respectful, nice and mostly did not speak English bar the manager, Martin, who was an angel to work with. I would definitely recommend this company. I have had disasters in the past and Allan Industries is definitely the best I've worked with.

I've been out of my home for 2+ years as a result of a tree crashing through my roof during…read moreHurricane Sandy - I have vaulted ceilings, so when the tree came through (I was in the house at the time) I literally had an unplanned skylight. I went to work right away on lining up a contractor, but for different reasons none of those contacts panned out. In spring 2013, I turned to my insurance company to recommend a contractor in my area, and that's where Allan Industries comes into play. The contact assigned to me at Allan was nice enough, but I waited almost a year as the company "finalized" work estimates and kept me waiting for signed paperwork from them that I needed to submit to the mortgage company related to the intended repairs. Despite these issues, I stuck with Allan thinking my best option and I could use my insurance company (NJ Manufacturers) to push them along the way when things weren't moving - which is something I had to do a few times. In between all this, my insurance company issued me a pay out based on Allan Industries' initial estimate. Fast forward to late April/early May of 2014, I received an email from my contact at Allan that they rescind their contract and are no longer interested in the job - no explanation was offered - short and sweet and to the point. My insurance company was also not helpful - three phone calls to them before I was offered an explanation that the job was too big for Allan Industries and they couldn't work with the code issues my house requires; this explanation was given to me with a laugh in the insurance company reps voice. I was given a few other contractors names and wished good luck. I will compliment Allen on one item - early on in this issue, a harsh storm was headed for NJ and I was worried about the tarp over my roof - Allen got a team up there to put a new tarp over the hole a day or so before Thanksgiving easing my worries. At the time I had asked to know the cost to do this and was told not to worry as the tarp would just be "rolled into the cost of the overall repair"; a month before the email I received from Allan walking away from this job, I received a bill from them for the tarp work - with a note that interest would be added to the bill if not paid within 30 days. $400.00 - aren't they just absolute peaches? This is my experience with this company - the one star issued here is being EXTREMELY generous. I do not recommend this company at all.

What was presented as full mold removal turned out to be limited "dry-out" mitigation, an important distinction never made clear at contract signing. A job estimated at 3-4 days stretched to nearly three weeks, with unfulfilled appointments, late arrivals after I took time off work, and understaffed crews. Communication was poor. Technicians repeatedly cited insurance "approvals" as an obstacle, despite my carrier stating this was solely my responsibility and after I had already authorized full remediation. I was told the work was complete, only to discover visible black mold still present inside the wall cavity of my toddler's bedroom (see photo), requiring double the amount of demolition. They also charged for work that was not performed, such as detaching appliances that had already been moved to discover the leak. Third-party post-work air testing showed elevated & unsafe mold levels, and Restoration 1 never provided a clearance report, invoice, or written confirmation that the home was safe for habitation, despite multiple requests. It later became cleark they were working only to the initial insurance estimate rather than fully remediating the mold. Project management was disorganized, the project manager never identified themselves as such nor inspected the site in person, and coordination with the referring plumber did not occur - leaving time sensitive logistics up to me. Nearly a month later, I had not been contacted about reconstruction and I now have to hire another company to complete both remediation and reconstruction, so I cannot recommend Restoration 1.
