I was paired with Tex, who hadn't had a rider in about 6 years. He lifted his head often, which made me feel a bit anxious as a beginner. I felt like I was going to fall off. * The parking situation is confusing--there are two driveways, and we accidentally pulled into the one that leads to the owner's home. She was not happy about it and let us know. We moved the car, but just a heads up to look for signs or ask where to park. Overall, it was a good experience--my daughter had a blast, and it's something we'll remember. Just be sure to communicate your comfort level and experience before saddling up. I'd still recommend it for families looking for a unique and fun outing!

The horses did not seem very healthy either. I came across Tally Ho on Facebook. I was impressed by the owner's generous spirit and kindness to others. Marti does so much for Veterans and others. I figured that care would transfer to her horses and to her guests...and I was right. I was immediately struck by how warm and welcoming Marti was when she greeted us. Then when I saw the horses and facilities I knew I hit the jackpot. Very clean, very organized and gorgeous horses that are very well taken care of. Marti is all about teaching. This isn't " plop on a horse and get led around." You LEARN. And in a very fun way! By the end of our session my 6 year old granddaughter was off the lead and really riding! She was ecstatic. She also learned how to care for a horse (as did I) which is important. She LOVED it and can't stop talking about it. I rode too and I've never had anyone take the time to teach me. It was thrilling to be able to actually understand how a horse thinks and what I need to do to ride. It was a huge confidence boost and I am actually getting teary eyed writing this thinking of Marti and of course, my girl Maddie. Tally Ho is now my go to place. And it's not just for kids. My 8 year old son attended his first 2 week camp session at River Way Ranch Camp this summer. This…read morewas his first sleep away experience and we/he were blown away by every aspect of this camp. My son said he had "the best summer of his entire life, better than any vacation he's ever taken, better than anything he's ever done." He was initially so nervous about attending for 2 weeks, but next summer wants to go for 4! He absolutely loved his counselors and his cabin-mates. His favorite activities were tubing, knee boarding, zip lining, ATVs, the "Atlantis" lake inflatable obstacle course, and horse back riding. He loved "casino night" and performing for "mock rock" in front of the entire camp. He loved the food and it was so easy and convenient taking the bus home with a stop in Woodland Hills. He came home beaming, honestly hasn't stopped talking about his experience and is constantly singing camp songs. He's so excited to return next summer and bring some friends along. River Way Ranch Camp far exceeded our expectations. Can't wait for my son to experience many more of these unforgettable summers!
