In LA for a business trip and came across Klaudette's. This food is AMAZING. Get the ox tail with everything it's incredible. The portions are absolutely massive, plenty for two people.

Hours are 1130-10 Thurs/fr/sat and every other Sunday. Sooooo good! And Claudette is the sweetest lady ever She is across from the regal theater and you can park for a couple minutes in the lot behind her.

Jerk Chicken

I came here on Sunday with my girl to try the jerk chicken and the reviews looked good but I was very disappointed when I got my food. The cabbage was greasy and unflavored, the jerk chicken was lukewarm, really dry barely had any sauce, it was three small pieces whilst the majority of space on my plate was taken by rice. The jerk chicken was smoky but it was tough lacked flavor, it was more like regular bbq it was sweet to which was unexpected. Plantains were also hard. Also preferred some Mac and cheese it was good but was sour. Maybe I came on a bad day or something because overall the food was lacking flavor unsatisfied especially after paying so much. Klaudette wasn't there but some guy served us he was very nice even charged us less bc mf gf didn't want cabbage. I'm not a very picky eater either, I ate most of it but It wasn't enjoyable :/

Ms Klaudette of Klaudette's Kitchen! Big plates and big flavor.

Stopped by the incredible Gem and had an incredible meal. The Oxtail melted in my mouth with a depth of true authentic Jamaican flavor. Both the Curry and Jerk Chicken we're also outstanding. Klaudette walked me through the menu and graciously let sample a few items. My plate was heavy, and now my belley is full. I'll be back in a couple days!!

Food is amazing always fresh and I would definitely recommend this to anybody. That's in downtown LA area near the convention center and her customer service and hospitality is top-tier.

Had this as my last meal in LA before traveling back home. The meal did not disappoint!!! I highly recommend the jerk chicken meal. Best part Klaudette put oxtail gravy over my rice. Support black owned businesses.

Destroyed that plate lol, only bones left

$35 for the smallest plate of mediocre food. Tiny portions from a rude and snappy old lady.

The oxtail was very flavorful and rich and went well with rice and vegetables. It kind of reminded us of mole sauce. The jerk chicken had a strong spice and vinegar flavor so it was different from what I am used to but the meat was moist and very filling. I tried the sorrel drink for the first time and it was delicious. It kind of tastes like pomegranate juice. I explained exactly how I wanted it prepared, including all my little requests, and he delivered exactly what I asked for. The fish was seasoned just right, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. You can tell when a chef actually listens to the customer and this one did! The ackee and saltfish was another favorite. Well-seasoned, packed with flavor, and cooked just the way it should be. Add some rice and those sweet fried plantains, and that plate was definitely giving authentic Caribbean comfort food. If I'm not mistaken, I've tried almost everything on their menu, and I've never been disappointed not even once. I also loved the atmosphere. There's something about the music, the décor, the warmth, and the overall Caribbean feel of the place that makes you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal. It has that laid-back island energy that you don't have to force it's just there. If you're looking for good Caribbean food, generous flavor, and a vibe that feels warm and familiar, Taste of the Caribbean is definitely worth checking out.

Last time I was at BMH, I didn't get a chance to try Caribbean Gourmet (CG). Yesterday was the day. Parking was easy behind the building. Comfortable shared community seating available inside and outside. Restrooms are near the front entrance of the BMH. CG offers comforting soul foods with bold flavors of authentic Caribbean and Guyanese cuisines. Their simple menu includes chicken plates, patties (empanadas like), pastries, and drinks. Oxtail stew, jerk chicken, chicken and vegan curries, and freshly made roti are some of their signature dishes. Since it was my first time trying them, I got the Jerk Chicken. Wow, it was one heavy plate! One deliciously tender chicken drumstick + thigh over aromatically flavored coconut rice and peas. Spice level was perfect! Veggies and roasted plantains were fantastic. Absolutely a plate of tasty goodness! Highly recommend for first time and returning customers. I would get it again for sure. Prices were reasonable for the great portions. Staff was super friendly and nice. Thank you Miss! CG is one of the best food options at BMH. I'm planning my return to try their other signature dishes soon. If you haven't tried them, don't wait any longer. It's the real deal Caribbean and Guyanese!

Genuinely one of the most incredible bites I've ever had, I am so glad I stumbled in here. I'll be honest, I was not expecting many vegan options but I was pleasantly impressed by how much was available. I ordered the seasonal vegetable patty and the vegan channa roti. Walking in you are greeted with golden brown baked patties, immediately putting the goodness on display. I've had Caribbean patties before, most of them fried because I grew up in the south, but a friend's mom from childhood would fresh bake them for us and I had missed that for so long. These patties reminded me of that and I had a Ratatouille flashback moment with it. I don't exactly remember what was in the patty, but it was the fall medley, and it was warm, cozy, and so pleasant. The lady at the front of house asked me what I thought and I could tell she really cared about the fact that I enjoyed it. About 10 minutes later the roti came out (and I think waiting for it made the experience even better), and my goodness every single bite was just fantastic. I spent around $30 in total (including tip) and I think that was a complete steal for the experience I had. I'm definitely coming back so I can try the jerk cucumbers and the channa doubles. This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
