The restaurant was just a ten minute walk from the hotel and on the way we passed a multitude of restaurants. We walked into a very friendly and busy environment. You could tell all the people sitting around us were having a good time and eating what looked like some really good food. We went to a side room that was just a bit quieter and without missing a beat... ordered a beer. Hard to make a choice with their comprehensive menu, but keeping with our tradition of eating lighter in the evening while traveling we went with: - Tomato and Mozzarella salad - A large piece of toasted bread - Veal Schnitzel with potatoes - Apple Strudel Without going through each item in detail I will say that everything was fantastic! Tomatoes and cheese were so fresh and tasty and the schnitzel was wonderful... Not enough good things to say about the amazing strudel..... Nothing like having apple strudel in Germany. Paulaner is the beer of Munich. So is their beer halls. This one has some unique different plates…read morethan the other traditional ones and why my colleagues and I always stop here. It was renovated from a previous hall and the decor is very nice, not to mention the Christmas decor. They even added a nice sitting area for groups of 5-8 where you have your own self serve beer tap at the table. What more do you need? They also have multiple private rooms. It is one of my top favs in downtown Munich. Will be back with larger group to try that table tap.

A friend of mine told me about this place opening a few months ago. It used to be called the Rice…read moreBar and it was shut down end of last year. It reopened in February as a micro brewery and craft beer bar. It's located a stones throw from where we live and located in the basement of a residential building. There is a small bar with seating and some tables with seating for about 15-20 people. There is also a few tables outside for the warm months. It's been done up nicely and reminds me of small town pubs in Ireland. The menu has a lot of craft beer, some ciders, gins and so on. There is no food here and I suppose it may come at a later date. They have about 5-6 craft beers on tap. I had a Giesenger Kellerbier and it was really nice. I hope this place survives as there is not much foot traffic in the area. Also places with drinks only tend to be late night places in Munich and the fact that this place is an apartment building could prove challenging. It's a nice place and I will be back again.
